Medusa's Make-Up April 2021 "Spring Fling" Review

Along with my beauty items, I received an info card that details what items are in the box. I also received a 15% off almost everything coupon on Medusa's Makeup site.

Medusa's Makeup Blueberry Repair Calming Facial Mask, 25 ML – Retail Value $4.99

Let's get to it! I'd first like to apologize for the lateness with my review for this month. April is my birthday month (hey fellow Aries!) and I was finally on a fully vaccinated vacay! Thanks for hanging in here with me 🙂 This month's bonus product is a blueberry facial sheet mask. With blueberry extracts full of antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, this mask promises to lock in moisture and smooth irritated skin. My face has been in breakout city from all of the eating out I've been doing lately while away. I tried this yummy smelling mask and my skin felt a lot calmer and looked a lot less irritated. My only complaint is that I only received one! This is definitely on my list to buy again.

Medusa's Makeup Disco Queen Extreme Sparkle Lip Gloss, 6 ml – Retail Value $14.00

This sparkle lip gloss is in the color Boogie Nights and is a shimmery bronze. I love a lippie that has a nice scent and the smell of this gloss is delish with hints of coco and vanilla.

This gloss is supposed to be "extreme sparkle", but as you can see from the above pics, there isn't a lot of sparkling going on. I don't mind that the gloss isn't full of sparkle, because I actually prefer that. I do wish though that the color that's shown on the arm swatch was the color that showed up on my lips. When applied on lips, the color looks clear. I appreciated that the consistency of this lip product isn't sticky like most glosses are.

Medusa's Makeup Witch Lash (mini), 12 ml –  Retail Value $10.00

This mini mascara is so cute! It's in the color Bebe Gato Negro (the black cat) and is in the most adorable hot pink packaging. The item is in a travel size, so throw it in your purse for refreshes throughout the day. Black mascara is my usual go-to color of choice. I have very faint lashes, so I'm always looking for a product that makes them look thick and bold! This mascara really elongated and thickened my lashes and stayed on the majority of the day. I highly recommend!

Seraphine Botanicals Carrot & Rose Hydrating Cream, 30 ml– Retail Value $19.00

The featured brand this month is Seraphine Botanicals, a company that offers vegan, cruelty-free, botanically-infused skincare and cosmetics. I am so entranced by the smell of this item – light notes of floral had me constantly smelling my hands after applying. This product contains carrot and rose extracts. I wasn't quite sure what carrot extract was good for but learned it aids in fighting off skin-damaging free radicals. The lotion left my hands feeling very soft.

Medusa's Makeup Tropical Matte Eyeshadow, 2 g – Retail Value $12.00

We've come to our last item in this month's box and it screams spring fling! This shadow is in the color Montego Bay and has me dreaming of lying beachside with a tropical drink in hand. I love the bold, bright, purple color!

Because this is a matte shadow, it didn't apply as smoothly. I had to use a lot of product for the color to show. In the future, I may use an eyeshadow sealer for an easier application. I love the purple against my skin tone, and am feeling all ready for warmer months!

Verdict: YES to this month's Spring Fling-themed box! Every single product was lovely. The mascara was a fave for sure. It's so hard for me to find a mascara that thickens and elongates. Pair that with it being in a mini travel size, and we got ourselves a winner! I received $59.99 worth of items which, once again, is an amazing price compared to the $18.95 you are paying.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you'll likely receive next month's box. Orders are generally processed within 1-3 business days.

Value Breakdown: At $18.95 for this box, here's what you're paying for each item:

  • Matte shadow- $3.79
  • Lipgloss- $4.42
  • Mascara- $3.16
  • Lotion - $6.00
  • Face mask - $1.58

I get tempted by this one periodically. With Allure having gone through the roof, and Ipsy having problems, I’m thinking about something different.

And yes, I’ve tried Boxy. Didn’t get enough color cosmetics I could use to make it worthwhile. Their totally random variations and not going by the customer’s stated preference was a huge turnoff.

I have that face mask, but I got it in a Pinch Me sample box and never used it.

I don’t understand the hype around this brand. It’s all made in China….

Made in China doesn’t automatically equal bad product. Unfortunately, the white labeling especially pervasive in sub boxes has given products made in China a bad rep. I believe that these brands do have proprietary formulas that are there own, and only contract out for manufacture of the product.

I get that not all manufacturers in China are bad but the reason they manufacture in China is because it’s cheap, and then they mark it up to sell. I don’t get why someone would accept cheap products you put on your face, like buy made in US for the same price.
