  1. I was lucky enough to purchase this kit when still listed at $40, but I just received it and the Elta MD sunscreen is only 0.5 oz (not full-sized at 1.7 oz).
I’m waiting on the line to see what Dermstore is going to do about this, but I would NOT recommend this kit at $50.

    • I’m waiting for mine. On the pic posted on their website the elta MD is 1.7 oz. It’s also listed as a “full size”, but I came to the realization that full size can be almost any size not marketed as a sample size.
I hope they made a mistake and will send you the 1.7oz bottle.

      • I second Joan. Not worth at all- also it’s not online anymore.
The elta md is 0.5oz.. Dermstore is not taking responsibility of the false advertising, blaming on elta md for printing it wrong (?!). They will not replace the item with what it is promised, only take a return. Which is a lot of hassle for a mistake on their behalf. Very disappointed in dermstore, I will reconsider buying from them in the future.

    • The elta md is 0.5oz. Also I posted another comment but it’s being vetted/held to review. I would not buy this kit.

    • Did Dermstore ship you a full size? I bought the kit based on the full size elta md product as well.

      • @anna not OP, but I just received an email from Dermstore saying “oops the shipped kit had the wrong size of elta md, we will ship you the right one”. It looks like it’s for all those who purchased the kit and got the sample size. Hope it helps!

      • They initially offered me a 20% credit on what the full size bottle of Elta MD would cost, which came to $8.60, which is a completely inadequate compensation. To make it worse, the kit was still available on the website with the wrong information and they’d known about it for at least 1 day. But like Izzie stated, I also later received an email stating they were going to send me a full-size bottle for the mistake. I’m happy that they’ve taken the kit down from the site and are making it right for the consumers who bought it based on that description.

  2. I think I have like 8 of those clear dermstore bags now.

  3. There’s also the Birchbox SPF Try It Kit, for $32; and coupons applicable.

  4. My first thought is that this is an inflated price compared to the Sephora Sun Safety kit. Now I’m seeing in the comments that it was indeed $40 for a day or two and is now somehow $50. No thanks

  5. When this kit dropped last Friday, it was $40. I went back the next day and noticed the price went up to $50. It turned me off from getting it.

    • I bought it on Friday for $40 but in the description of the kit featured on dermstore it said already $50 (I thought it was a typo). I now think I got lucky and dermstore messed up and the original price was meant to be $50. One of the cashback website is giving 15% cash back, if it may interest you, bringing the actual cost of the kit closer to $40.
