Bombay & Cedar Lifestyle Spring 2021 Review

The box arrived without a booklet of information that lists out the products and highlights some of the brands, but I was able to get a copy via email from their Customer Service team. Let's dig into the products!

Rivsalt Himalayan Sea Salt Kit - Retail Value $29.00

When I first looked at the box for this kit I thought it was some sort of salt lamp, and then I saw the grater and was like what on earth is this lamp going to look like? Hahaha! This kit is actually a really creative and visually appealing new way to add sea salt to your food. This kit includes a Japanese-style grater, a Himalaya salt rock, and a desk stand made from untreated natural oak. This is a stunning set and will be a talking piece at your table for any gathering. My husband loves adding a touch of salt to his food so I decided to surprise him with this set at dinner and he was so excited! I can't wait to use this at family gatherings this summer.

Cougar Beauty Rooibos Tea Facial Serum, 1.04 fl 0z. - Retail Value $28.26

Rooibos is a rare plant from South Africa that is enriched with an antioxidant known as superoxide dismutase, known for its anti-aging properties. It also has high levels of flavonoid which helps to combat eczema, acne, and various bacterial infections in the skin. This serum is meant to energize your skin, reducing inflammation, smoothes, firms, and nourish to offer a more youthful glow. I haven't noticed a huge difference in my skin after using this for a few days. It leaves my skin feeling a little sticky so I've been using it in the evening. One other aspect that I am not loving is the bottle, it is a squeeze bottle instead of being a dropper which is way easier for skincare products. They recommend using 2 to 3 drops for application, but if I squeeze even slightly too hard I get a huge blob of the product out. I am going to keep giving this product a try, but I can't say that it is blowing me away after factoring in the bottle, scent, and overall look and feel of it on my skin.

Rind Snacks Skin On Dried Fruit Straw-Peary Blend, 1.5 oz. - Listed Value $4.29 (buy a pack of 3, 3 oz. bags here for $18.99)

This bag didn't last long in my house. My husband ate most of it, my son hated it, and my daughter who is the pickiest eater I've ever met gobbled these down. This bag is filled with whole fruit that is gently dried, it's honestly the freshest dried fruit I have ever seen. The flavor is so sweet with a lightly chewy texture. The bag I received is filled with dried California strawberries bursting with jammy flavor, bosc pears, and sweet Honeycrisp and Fuji apples. I just might need to buy more of these!

PLUKT Nordic Leaf Tea in Peppermint - Retail Value $4.74

I am not a big tea drinker, but this bag smelled so fresh I had to try it! I received the rich peppermint blend that is bold and cool while having a calming impact on your mind and body. This tea is hand-picked and naturally dried in the sun in wild Nordic meadows and forests. They recommend enjoying this with a bit of honey to add some extra sweetness to cut through the bold peppermint flavors. While this isn't something that I would drink every day, I really enjoyed giving such a natural brand a try!

Cheree Berry Write-On Cards - Listed Value $17.99

This beautiful card box includes a paint pen, stickers, 12 cards, and 13 envelopes. These cards are so much fun and colorful, perfect to surprise someone special. I am going to use these for my son's teachers with their end-of-the-year gifts and let my son decorate with the stickers. I always appreciate receiving card sets like this because they are so nice to have on hand in a pinch, plus they are so cute.

Botanica Incense in Ylang Ylang, Sea Salt, & White Orchid - Retail Value $16.00

I love incense, but I haven't used any in years since having my kids (they always felt like a bit of a danger zone item to have around little grabby hands). I was actually really excited to see these and thought maybe I would just burn them at night when the kids go to bed, but I was bummed to see that this didn't come with a stand. So I didn't really have anything cute or safe to hold these when burning, but I am going to buy something because these smell so incredible. What I love about incense is that they are great for clearing a space of stagnant energy to provide clear and calm energy. These are made of high-quality fragrance blends and essential oils that allow the scent to last longer and fill your space. This blend is made with ylang ylang, sea salt, and white orchid. I am in love with the bold scent that these give off that is both earthy and feminine.

Lazu Skincare Candle + Skin Balm Duo - Retail Value $25.00

This has to be the prettiest candle set that I have ever received! These candles seem small, but they come with a candle on one side and a moisturizing skin balm on the other. The candle scents are Flourish and Blossom. The box set also comes with an application wand that you can use to dip into the warm balm to apply to your hands. The balm is filled with enriched vitamins and anti-aging ingredients including vitamin C, coenzyme 10, vitamin E, and 7 different plant oils. I almost thought that this set was too pretty to use, but I was so glad that I did! Not only do the candles smell amazing, but the balm is such a relaxing and warming experience that left my hands feeling silky smooth. I received this duo set, but you could have received a shower diffuser, an umbrella, a garden kit, table runner, or a doorstop.

Glass Ladder & Co Hepburn Document Holder - Retail Value $120.00 (on sale here for $96.00)

So this is designed to carry documents, notebooks, or tablets but I am really feeling this as an oversized clutch. Call me crazy but I just loved the look and feel of this as a sort of menswear clutch that I could see myself using for a night out with a black dress. This bag has a gold chain strap, it is 15" wide x 10.5" tall, and it has magnetic closures, pen loops, and card slots. I honestly was surprised by how much I liked this bag, but once I held it and stood with it in the mirror I was really feeling it! Plus, the quality and color really blew me away once I was able to see and hold it in person.

Verdict: This box left me feeling so happy and excited for the warmer days ahead! The sea salt kit is probably my favorite item this month, it was such a surprise and unlike anything, I've ever seen before. I can't wait to use it this summer at family dinners. The document holder is going to be a new clutch for me to use when I can finally go out on dates again with my husband very soon! The candle duo was another beautiful surprise and I love that I can quickly add a nourishing and warm balm to my hands while the candle fills my house. Plus, the set is just so beautiful to look at and unbox. The card set is going to get used a ton for teachers and beyond to spread love and thanks. The estimated retail value is $245.28, which is a wild value for the $74.95 cost including free shipping. I love quarterly boxes because they are always so focused and feature so many great brands and products. I can always count on receiving outstanding items that are unique and exciting. If there is something that might not work for me personally, it all will make a great gift to a friend or family member. This box has me excited for warmer weather and it filled me with so much bright joy, which is really all you can ask for in a box, to give you quality products and a bit of happiness!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, the next box would be Summer.

Nice variety! That salt is pretty cool.

You can put the incense in a little bowl of rice if you don’t have a holder.

That’s a great idea, thank you!

You can also stick the incense down in a candle.

Someone told me that if you don’t have an incense stand that you can put your incense in a potted plant, just make sure the soil is wet enough and stick the incense in it and let it burn. I haven’t tried that but was told by it by a couple of people.

That’s a fun idea!

This looks like an amazing box! I am still waiting for mine with no updates after getting a shipping label at the end of March though which is frustrating to me.

Oh no! Hopefully it arrives soon for you!

I emailed last week to see what the hold-up was on my box too. She said the chili set was still not in house but offered to send the box now and include the “chili” set with my next box. It’s been so long since I made my choices, I don’t remember what I’m getting, just that the good options were sold out right away. One more box in my annual sub and I am finished with this company.

Allison

That’s where. The excuse they gave me was the salt set (shown in the review).

Stephanie

Ok, I’m just going to say it…seems so unhygienic or just ick to me for everyone to be touching the rock salt while they grate it.

Taryn Lowman

I would probably just grate for everyone and would really only have it for a sit down dinner, not for a large group of people.

Reply ButtonReply

Brittany Bolton

I would think the host would be the one doing the grating

Sue

Yuck. Who wants someone else doing it especially right now.

Cindy

Maybe it’s staring right at me, but what is that “document holder” thing made of? For 120.00?? And I’m glad the reviewer likes it but ugh, it looks gigantic on the website model. Maybe I’ve just been subbing to boxes for too long, but nothing here floats my particular boat. The candle/skin care thing is just weird. And that grater with the salt, didn’t we get one a couple of years back from FFF?

I have the Glass Ladder & Co clutch/document holder that was sent by Causebox a while back. They are vegan leather/pleather products. Had a horrible chemical smell right out of the box, but that eventually went away. I would never pay full retail for these, but I like the one I have and use it for taking paperwork to meetings.

It is strange that there aren’t materials listed on the site for the document holder. It feels nice for what its worth! I really do love this holder and have used it as a clutch, oversized of course, but I think it looks so fun.

So, at first, when I got mine I thought hmm, will I ever use it? Then I got materials for a music class I’ll be teaching and it is absolutely perfect, exactly what I need. I really thought I’d be just tossing it I after a few months, but it is perfect for what I needed.

That’s B & C for you. For $75 I think this box is a bit light. I personally don’t like a bunch of things thrown all together with no cohesive theme.

Not sure who is behind the curation, but I would love to see it stepped up a few knotches. It just seems like every box is basically a wild card.
