Charlie Holiday Coco Cover Up

FYI: This item was an XXL. It measures 22 inches across the chest laying flat. The front was 35 inches long while the back was a little longer, measuring about 37 inches.

This box always does a great job of selecting apparel that feels very “beach” but isn’t too loud or tropical. As an East Coast kind of gal, I appreciate this! I love being in the sun, but the nostalgic coast in my memory is dotted with lighthouses instead of palm trees. This coverup features a very cute palm pattern in blue, on a white background. It also has a stylish white rope lace-up front. It is the sort of coverup you could actually wear as a dress if you wanted to, though it might feel a little sheer! It is made of 55% cotton and 45% rayon. Also worth noting is that the tag suggests hand-washing or dry cleaning which might be a bummer for those of us who like to toss everything into the washing machine (like me).

My bestie Julie helped out with this model shot because I, ironically, am horrifically sunburnt right now. I have blisters on my shoulders which means new clothing has to stay far away for now or risk, well, if you have ever burnt to blistering, you get it. Also, as an SPF soapbox kind of gal, I am mortified. Don’t forget to reapply!

Julie is significantly smaller than I am but she prefers coverups oversized, which might be worth keeping in mind when you select the size you want. She suggested it might fit like she would expect a large to fit her. Right now I wear an XL top and my bust is right at 44 inches, which would have meant a much more snug fit for me for sure and likely a little less of that breezy comfort we think of when we think of beach coverups.

WLFP Beach Blanket

I liked this blanket immediately. It has a blue pattern that coordinates with the coverup beautifully and the white reverse is an absorbent towel sort of material. The cute white tassel trim makes it feel very Hamptons to me though you could just as easily enjoy this by the pool or in the park. It is a viscose/cotton blend and is machine washable.

The top fabric is thinner and does wrinkle a little, but it is cushy and I don’t mind.

Vera Bradley Rainforest Canopy Cooler, W 16″ x H 11″ x D 10″

I am not normally a Vera Bradly kind of gal, but this pattern is just too fun. Among the florals and fronds, there are cute little monkeys and fancy tropical birds hidden. This cooler is also a very generous size and feels sturdy. I was happy to see little plastic feet on the bottom because this is one you don’t want sitting in the dirt. There are also a couple of side zipper pockets as well as a front slot for smaller items.

Here is a shot of my bestie Julie beside it for scale. Again, she was kind enough to stand in for a model shot since I am pretty icky right now. Her cute pup’s name is Falkor. He is a very, very good boy.

Logan Tay Shell Yeah Bracelet

I have always loved cowrie shells. My grandmother gave me some as a kid and told me they were lucky! This bracelet looked a little more dainty in pictures but I actually love the size. It’s big enough to grab attention but lightweight and very easy to wear. The gold chain has a slider feature making it easy to customize to your wrist size and exactly the way you like to wear your bracelets.

As far as shell jewelry goes, I love this!

Sun Bum SPF 30 Lotion, 3 fl oz – Retail Value $9.99

This SPF was a rather ironic addition since I didn’t wear it out in the sun before this burn. I was relying on my facial SPF to be enough which is the trap I think a lot of sunburn victims fall into, especially when it’s warm and tanktops are calling, and you won’t be outside that long, right? WRONG. Wear the SPF. Do it for me!

I like Sun Bum. I think it is a cute brand and it checks all of the boxes most people are concerned about when it comes to SPF:

Broad Spectrum UVA / UVB Protection, Hypoallergenic, Reef Friendly / Oxybenzone Free & Octinoxate Free, Cruelty Free, Vegan, Oil Free, Paraben Free, Gluten Free, PABA Free, Sun Bum Original Scent, Water Resistant (80 Minutes)

It has a summery scent that 100% smells like sunscreen (coconutty and sweet!), but I think is pleasant. This is a chemical sunscreen (Sun Bum makes both but their mineral formulas have a white cap!) and I really liked the way it felt on my skin and how easily it absorbed without a white cast. It is going to live in my purse for now so I don’t make more bad decisions this summer.

Patchology Resting Beach Face Mask Kit – Retail Value $20.00

Our final item is a set of two lip masks and two face sheet masks from Patchology. I like this brand because their masks are formulated to work quickly, so if you only have 5 minutes, you can still mask! From personal experience, both are really soothing after sun exposure. The sheet mask has lots of wonderful things like aloe, panthenol, and hyaluronic acid that are great for comforting and hydrating skin. The lip mask was one of those magical ones that actually stays on my lips even when I am upright and the combination of shea, peptides, and green tea extracts left my lips feeling soft and smooth.

Verdict: This Beachly review might have felt like an earnest plea for you to wear SPF (and, it kind of was) but the assortment was really fun and totally put me in a great summer mood. Again, I always appreciate how this Beachly box could really work for really any beach: tropical, colder- coast, wherever. The Beachly team does a good job of curating the colors and patterns that make it inside and they always feel chic but still fun. Though Julie fell in love with the coverup (and I sent it home with her!) it was a design I would have totally worn myself, even if only to shield from the sun in the garden. The sizing felt a little small, but it happens and I am glad it went to someone who was in love with it. The blanket I kept for myself because it actually coordinates really well with the cute blow-up pool I just bought. Well, if I ever go out into the sun again. The cooler was beyond adorable with the different plants and animals and the generous size makes it perfect for a summer get-together with pals. The SPF and sheet masks are excellent companions before and after sun exposure and the shell bracelet was comfortable to wear and had just enough gold. All in all, this was a super fun box, even with a raging sunburn.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  Yes, but these sell out quickly!

Value Breakdown: At $103.95 ($99.00 + $4.95 shipping) for this box, each of the 6 items has an average cost of $17.33.

Got my box today and everything is just lovely, can’t wait to use.

Sharon in TX

I received mine today and I love it too.

Peggy

My box came today too.. This might be my favorite box they ever sent.. and I think I loved all of them!

Tammy

This box looks amazing, I feel like they should actually give you the option of getting beachy warm weather stuff in all their boxes. I travel all winter long and am not interested in receiving cold weather items. I live in CA I want a Beachly box to be all Beachly stuff.

Terri

I love that beach blanket, but they don’t sell it on their site. I’ll have to look around and see if I can find it elsewhere. They always have a nice selection of items in this sub, but more “stuff” that I don’t really need. I always enjoy your reviews, Megan 🙂

Beachly

Thanks Terri! That beach blanket is exclusive to the summer box

Kelly

Good job on the box curation this time! I’ll use everything in it! The cooler bag is a great size and cute, shell jewelery is awesome and I love Patchology. The blanket and coverup are in prints that I adore so I’m real happy with those items as well. I’m actually in Alaska so I crave anything that will take me away to someplace tropical and this box fits the bill. Now to just see what’s in the bonus box……😁

Snow

I agree Kelly the items are all very lovely! As a cold climate gal myself I definitely like the warm vibes coming from this box. I won’t however give up my four seasons lol.

Sorry to hear about your sunburn Megan! I got it so bad one time I passed out. The sun seems to get us all. I completely agree with your assessment; it’s not over the top with it’s tropical theme but rather classy. Maybe you could review their beauty box as well ☺️

Peggy

My Bonus Box had an underwater camera..which was a big surprise… cute navy blue pineapple socks.. a t-shirt the said Sea La Vie and a pineapple fan.. all very cute and I will use them.

Sara

So this was my first time purchasing from Beachly. I did love the items in the summer box. The towel/blanket is my favorite thing but everything is cute and I am happy with it. However the bonus box I feel like They were items people didn’t want and just thrown in a bag. Their presentation for the summer box was so beautiful and the bonus was not. I opted to take the bonus box over a $30 discount code I had. I will say the items are definitely not worth even $30, and they advertise it like it’s a collection of items totally $100. I actually think something was left out of my bag. One reviewer on here, I believer her name was Peggy, mentioned she received pineapple fan, pineapple socks, a sea la vie (no idea what that is but not in my bonus box) a rough feeling O’Neil touristy looking Tshirt and an underwater camera. I only received an O’Neill T shirt that’s rough feeling and something you would never spend more than $4 on, cute pineapple socks and pineapple fan and a cheap fabric eye mask like you would purchase from dollar tree. I’m going to have to reach out to them about it and see if mine was packaged wrong or missing items. They really should include item list like the summer Beachly box has to ensure consistency and nothing missing.

Kelly

Thanks so much for the info on the bonus box Peggy! 😊

Carrie

Omg I got an awful sunburn on my chest and arms (but not my face) from doing the same thing! I haven’t had a sunburn in 20 years!

amber

Her dog is very appropriately named!

Rose

I’m a beach girl through and through as I live in a small coastal town in FL. I swim most days May- October, either in the pool or the Gulf.

I buy SPF by the jug and this small bottle, while great for a day trip, isn’t enough to last me more than that. My local thrifts are overflowing with cover ups and cute towels and I would prefer to buy used.

I checked out the brand on the bracelet to see if they started anything about how they acquire their shells. I couldn’t find anything. Seashells as jewelry are rarely found naturally and the trade of shells is almost never monitored. Feel free to Google this.

This might be a fun one time box for me to send to a friend who doesn’t already live at the beach and has an upcoming trip. But past that, I don’t see it being worth $99 for me personally.

Vic

Thank you for the info on the seashells. I live by the beach as well and absolutely adore it. I mainly thought most mass produced shell jewelry was fake. I did not realize I could be supporting bad trade by buying these pieces.

Jennifer

While I’m not a huge fan of the coverup (colors are too light for me) this is a great box. I’m tempted to get it just because that cooler is gorgeous, and with all the cooler craze this summer (FFF’s coolergate, Curateur’s Kate Spade coooler gift with purchase I’m surprised MSA hasn’t posted on, the cooler choice in ‘Alltrue’) this is my favorite design. Plus I think it would be so cute with the palm wrap from FFF.

The blanket/oversized towel is cute, though I kind of wish it was a waterproof one. And the sunscreen/sun patches I would totally use and those are practical.

Even the shell bracelet is prettier than I first imagined it would be!

But since I don’t love/need everything the price just seems a tad high (not that it isn’t a great box, if I loved the cover up this would be very solid) – and I found the cooler at thepaperstore for $40, even some Lily Pulitzer coolers and other thingns – so I might just grab a cooler from there once I settle on what I really want.

Molly

This box looks fab!

Tat

Megan…you look very…different…

Amanda

She stated in the review that her bestie was the model in this due to her sunburn

Nat

She said it’s her bestie. Not her
