KitNipBox April 2021 Review

KitNipBox has monthly themes. Around holidays, there are holiday themes, but you can never predict what it’ll be at other times. This month had a gardening theme.

Included in the box is this card, which features a cute illustration and info on the opposite side of what you'll find in the box.

Now, on to the items:

Springtime Showers Wand – Listed Value $7.00

Most months with Kitnipbox, you will get a wand or dangler toy. This is a good one because it has three separate dangling parts and they all are made from felt so they’re great for your kitties to hook their claws into. Also, the stick length and string length match up well (the string is not too long with this one, which can sometimes happen). Sneaky wouldn’t play with this while I was taking pictures but she totally did later (while the camera battery was charging, naturally!). Anyway, Sneaky is my wand cat these days and she did like this one.

Safemade All-Catnip Seed Packet – Listed Value $5.00

This is a small toy that’s tossable and not very heavy. It is stuffed with only catnip and Sneaky was a fan (she was a fan of another all catnip toy last month so I guess this is becoming a thing with her).

All for Paws Crinkle Gardener – Listed Value $5.00

Madison wanted to rub his face all over this one. I’m just happy he came out from under the table to inspect it. This is crinkly so it’s since found a home in my home office so I don’t hear it at night. This one does have some stuffing in it, in addition to the crinkle material and (of course) the catnip.

‘R Squad All-Nip Peas in a Pod – Listed Value $5.00

Here is another all catnip toy but it has a totally different texture than the first one I showed you. This is another one Madison wanted to rub his face on, while Monkey just wanted to cuddle with it. (In fairness, Madison is 14 and Monkey is 15 so they are not necessarily always playful and I’ll take what I can get from them!)

Leap All-Catnip Eggplant Kicker – Listed Value $5.00

Here’s another all-catnip toy. It’s about the same size as the peas. It’s labeled as a kicker and a smaller cat could probably use it that way, but it’s also good for face rubbing and tossing around. This one has a similar outer texture to the peas.

Max Jingling Mushroom - Listed Value $5.00

This one is fuzzy like the peas and the eggplant but it has some plush in it and it rattles. All three cats spent a bit of time inspecting this one but I suspect Monkey will pay the most attention as time goes on, both because of his play style and because it makes noise. (Also I think it is really funny that their mushroom is Amanita muscaria, which you probably do not want to grow in your garden as it is hallucinogenic and also toxic if not very carefully prepared.)

Purebites Freeze-Dried Venison Liver (0.3 oz) - Listed Value $4.00

This brand is pretty common but I think this is a new item (that is, venison liver for cats; the dog kind has been around for a while) and I can’t find this flavor for sale from the usual sources. Sneaky was a huge fan and Madison ate a bit of it too. Monkey pretended to eat it but freeze-dried meat really isn’t his thing and Sneaky took his piece from him. I wish this had been around when I still had Mr. Kitty and Angus, because they could’ve both tried this, even with their IBD. Oh well. Sneaky needs lower-calorie treats as we’re trying to get her to lose weight and this will do nicely.

On to the kitties:

(Sneaky is calico, Monkey is tan and white, and Madison is black.)

Verdict: I wasn’t able to calculate a total value for this month’s KitNipBox because most of the items were not available for purchase online. If you use the information card values, you get a total of about $36, which I think is reasonable. I would say this was a pretty typical month from Kitnipbox. There’s always a theme and the toys always fit the theme (plus they are not toys you can find elsewhere online so there’s no repetition with other cat boxes). The toy types are all a little different, with some that are all-catnip and some that are plush, a wand, some toys that make noise, etc. If you have a couple of cats with different personalities this is a good box to get each month, or at least it’s usually worked well for my cats.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your first KitNipBox will ship right after your payment processes, so you should still be able to get March's box if you sign up now.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 including free shipping, so you are paying approximately $4.28 per item.
