Believe it or not, buzzy olive oil brand Brightland is getting into skincare.

The maker of olive oils and vinegar has launched a Daily Regenerative Gel Cleanser in partnership with Circumference, a clean beauty brand dedicated to upcycling byproducts and reducing waste.

“What does olive oil have to do with skincare?” you might be asking yourself. Well, the same properties that make olive oil great for your health — it's packed with antioxidants and vitamins — make it a skincare and haircare essential.

If you’re having flashbacks to the time you tried to take off your makeup with olive oil because an influencer told you to, think again. These two brands have taken a different approach.

Circumference’s mission is to create products using materials that would otherwise be thrown away. Its first line was made using byproducts from the wine-making process in partnership with a Long Island-based sustainable vineyard. This Brightland collaboration utilizes perceived “waste” from the olive oil-making process to create this cleanser.

The Daily Regenerative Gel Cleanser ($48) is a light formula best for cleaning and purifying your skin before applying your makeup. Though, if you’ve always wanted to give Brightland a try, the Root To Leaf Set ($65) is your answer. It’s also the answer to the question “What’s the strangest duo to show up in a package at your door?” This bundle includes the full-size cleanser and a 100mL bottle of Brightland olive oil in its signature bottle.

I didn’t like it, might as well be putting straight up olive oil on your face 🤷🏼‍♀️

Personally I would tread with caution with any product with olive oil or olive derivatives. There have been a few studies that show it can damage and break down your skin barrier.

This seems weird to me. Personally, I don’t want skincare from a company that specializes in a food product.

And as Tat mentioned, I don’t think buzzy is the word for Brightland. I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned anywhere but here.
