BoxyCharm April 2021 Review

Let's see what I received!

Natasha Denona 'Jubilee' Palette - Listed Value $48.00 (you can find other assorted palettes in a smaller size here!)

Yes! I was so hoping for this particular palette. Something about the mix of nude, pink, yellow, and the teals was calling to me. In typical fashion, these ND formulas are fantastic. I was really happy to discover that what looked like a black shadow was actually the most fantastic moody teal shade! You can get a ton of looks from this palette. Keep it natural with the nude and a light-handed application of yellow or pink. Or go super bold with loads of pink and teal.

Top to bottom: Vintage Taupe, Intense, Limoncello, Enigma, Mint Frost.

Here is a more natural look..

And here is something a little more fun.

Here is a size comparison between this palette and the "mini" size you see at Sephora. Lots more product here!

Earth Harbor Naturals AURORA Superfood Luminance Ampoule, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $32.00

I really enjoyed this green ampoule. It has lots of wonderful things inside like jojoba, avocado oil, seaweed extract, and sea buckthorn oil. It also smells pretty wonderful because it has some blue tansy and lavender too. It's a medium weight that absorbs nicely on my drier skin, but if you are oilier it might feel a bit heavy, so I recommend sleeping in it. I applied some underneath a sheet mask then kicked back for 30 minutes before removing it. Pure bliss!

Dragun Beauty DragunFire Color Corrector in 'Lavender', 4 mL - Retail Value $25.00

As someone who really isn't wearing anything heavier than a BB cream right now, correcting products aren't really top of mind for me. But I have never tried a lavender one before! It is designed to cancel out yellow tones and though I don't have a ton of those (I am more of a redness-prone gal) I decided to give this a shot and applied it to the areas where I would normally apply concealer. Even though I am not prone to yellowness, you can totally tell that the left side of my face below has had all warmth removed, so I am guessing this would be wonderful for someone who has concerns about yellowness on their face. For me, I plan on keeping this around and trying it on days where I am feeling especially dull, because the cool lavender totally has a brightening effect too.

Here is a half-face shot! I applied the lavender corrector to the warmer spots on the left side of my face and left the right side alone.

Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick in 'Battery Park Bronze' - Retail Value $21.00

I am not sure how I feel about this shade because it is very golden and that can be tough for me to pull off. Luckily it also has a rich coppery undertone which helps! There is a little noticeable grit to this metallic shade, but it isn't bothersome. I was actually impressed with the color payoff. The shape of the bullet is also great because it has a distinct point which is perfect for shaping your lips as you apply it.

Super shiny.

Terre de Mars Move 008 Reddition Body Cleanser, 150 mL - Retail Value $31.00

Eh, this was a no-go for me because I am a weirdo who can't stand the scent of lemongrass. It reminds me of mosquito candles. If you happen to like that scent though, you are in luck!

Verdict: This BoxyCharm assortment was pretty awesome! Aside from the body wash, I liked everything here. And, I am fully aware that most normal people enjoy lemongrass, so I bet this will be enjoyed by a lot of subscribers! The Natasha Denona palette was absolutely beautiful and I love getting items from that brand in any of my boxes. I also thought the Dragun Beauty lavender corrector was a really fun item to try, and something I never would have sought out on my own. I can totally see using it in the future, if only for an eyeshadow primer that can minimize discoloration on my darker lids. The lipstick is more of a fall shade IMO, but I liked the effect, and the Earth Harbor ampoule was soothing and wonderful to use. All in all, this was a really great box! My BoxyCharm box has an overall value of $157.00 which is great for a $25 box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box will be the May box!

Value Breakdown: At $25.00 for this box, the average cost of each of the 5 items is $5.00.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Hi, the reason they won’t send you replacement boxes is because they only guarantee no repeats under one single account. Also, I’ve found that resubscribers / new subscribers often get the same boxes.

Hello, I would like to thank you for reviewing the BoxyCharm but this post has some misleading information regarding the subscription. Following along this post , it was posted on 27th and on the Wrap upnsection it says any subscription on BoxyCharm gets May box .I subscribed for the May box on 29th and they said that my box wpupd be april but not May . They are not willing to cancel my april box or give me the Maybox in substitute Please review these before posting. This has led. to some issues with Boxycharm and me.

I signed up for boxy on Apr 29 but my order says April Box, I’m only trying to get the May box. I was even able to make a choice for the May box. I am confused as to which box I’ll be getting. How do i contact Boxy?

Steph

You’ll receive a box for the month you signed up in. Even if you sign up on the last day of the month you’ll still receive that months box.

The Wrap up section said the box would be May. Dang it . I fell for it. Now I don’t know what to do with my april box.

Slightly off topic but I do not know where talk about this.
I enjoy the sales like two items at great low cost. I bought 2QmS lipline corrector serums.
Obviously by 2 means your not going to use both immediately…and wouldn’t bother with one while using the other. I ran out of first bottle and opened or tried the 2nd…the item wouldn’t pump anything out. I removed item from outer casing AND WAS SHOCKED TO SEE A NEVER BEEN FILLED BOTTLE…CLEAN AS A WHISTLE. It didn’t appear tampered …JUST EMPTY…wow

Totally love that lavender product on your face. Looks amazing.

That lipstick is wild! Love the way it looks….the actual color, though I could never pull off. It looks great on you, Megan (as do the vast majority of lipsticks you try on.)

It’s funny when I first looked at the lavender color correct picture, I would have guessed the opposite sides. The right side looks less warm?!

I do like that eyeshadow palette. The colors are fun and I appreciate the picture showing the size difference between the regular palette and mini.

Another fantastic review! Sorry about the dreaded lemongrass 😖

I think she meant she applied it to the side of her face that is left in the PHOTO — the side that she is holding the product to (in reality the right side of her face). I was confused at first too.

Ha! That makes more sense. I kept double checking thinking I’ve got to know my left from my right by now 😆

I signed up for Boxycharm about 10 days ago and I understand it takes about 2 weeks from the date of purchase to get the box sent out. But I have been reading so many comments that many people have not received their box yet or even a tracking number. Fingers crossed I don’t have that issue. This is the variation I hope I receive though. Great review, Megan.

I still haven’t received my box, or even a tracking number. So unsatisfied by customer service. A week ago they said “you’ll see a tracking number soon.” BS. They CLEARLY ran into some major issues this month as so many people haven’t received their box. Rather than be transparent about what’s going on, they keep kicking the can down the road. They are going to take my money again on May 1st and I’m sure I won’t have April’s box by then.

I have product overload, so I guess this is my sign that I really need to cancel. I’m giving them one more day to do something.

😂 I forgot how much you hate lemongrass, Megan! You actually got my dream box! I would’ve liked to try all of those items. I did get the Earth Harbor Aurora & the Natasha Denona Jubilee palette, which makes the box worth it to me.

I also got the Crème Shop contour palette (don’t own a cream contour, so this is at least interesting to me), Tarte mascara (don’t need mascara, but can’t complain about getting Tarte as a filler item), & a Be a Bombshell lip gloss (discard pile).

You are not a weirdo, I can’t handle the smell of lemongrass either, like, at all.

The corrector looks great. Everything else not so much.

I received the same items except I received the horrible Illuminati gloss in place of the lipstick. I’m one who usually doesn’t like the scent of lemongrass either but it’s not bad in the body wash when you use it. At least it wasn’t strong for me. However, I’m not sure if it’s the body wash, the new lotion I’m using, or a combination of the two that’s drying my skin out really bad.

I feel like I’m the only person who has a love/hate relationship with ND shadows. The fallout is horrible, but the formula is fantastic. I used this pallete last night and decided to do my under eyes last hoping it would help with the fallout. It didn’t. It was everywhere with 5 minutes of walking out the door. Even had glittery flecks on my nostrils.

I don’t support the Dragun Beauty brand, but the lavender corrector works okay to brighten up my under eye area and to help hide my dark circles. I do find it to be drying under my Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, so I’ll probably not reach for it as often and continue using my Becca brighter.

All in all it was an okay box this month. I just wasn’t excited about any of the items. It says a lot when I would’ve been happier if I’d received the tweezers.

Prettypony

I actually really enjoyed the lip gloss. lol

If it makes you feel any better, I got the the tweezers and they aren’t that good. They aren’t even as good as some of the drugstore tweezers I’ve bought for 2 bucks.
