Basic Man March 2021 Review

Neptune Crew Tee, Size M – Listed Value $16.00

This month’s shirt is a small venture outside the basic blacks, reds, and blues. We’re in the green spectrum and they call this “Neptune.” I have a Brand New record the same color and they called it “seafoam green.” So that’s good enough for me. I’ll say that this may be my least favorite color so far, but that’s not really saying much because I like them all. It’s just of the shirts I’ve received from this sub, this one feels the least flattering on me. Having said that. I’m wearing it. As always, the fit is perfect.

Heather Charcoal and Mood Indigo Dot Socks – Retail Value $12.00 (Currently on sale for $10.00)

Basic Man sort of did a similar thing with these socks in January, which I didn’t like (My wife loved them). I like these more, but I’m going to stick to my guns. I like the colors, but think they should just pick one. These are heather gray at the top and indigo from above the ankle to the toe. The polka dots are cute though. I’m probably just being picky because no one would see the tops under my pants. It’s a moot point anyway because my wife has already taken these for herself.

Heather Charcoal Boxer Briefs – Listed Value $15.00

If you think I’m running out of things to say about the shirts, wait till you hear about the boxers. Honestly, they’re pretty great. These remind me of my middle school gym shorts. They are incredibly smooth and soft and have some mesh for ventilation. They are made from 95% bamboo viscose and 5% elastane. As I mention in my reviews, these boxers ride up a little in the back for me. Sometimes I wonder if going a size smaller would solve that problem. But at what cost? As I get older, my waist gets less and less forgiving.

Verdict: This was my seventh Basic Man review. So I now have boxers, socks, and a shirt for every day of the week. I’ve been wearing the shirts as undershirts for the winter. Now that the weather is warming up, I’ll be wearing the shirts by themselves. As I get older, I just want plain shirts and these are great. The boxers are great as well. I just wish they were a little more taut in the rear. The socks are typically on point. I just don’t think I’m a fan of this split color style, but I’m certain my wife is. Although it wasn’t my favorite color, I’m picking the shirt as the best item this month. They are just so dang comfy. I felt this month’s items were just a tick above basic, and I like it. Just don’t get too crazy.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? The monthly shipments won’t always be the same items as mine – so you can order anytime.

Value Breakdown: The total value of the items is – and I suspect always will be – $43. That’s a great value for a subscription that costs $24.99. The average cost of each of the 3 items is $6.66. The average value per item is $14.33. I saw on the Basic Man website that they’ll give you a $9 discount if you buy a set together, but even with the discount, it is not less than the $25 for the subscription. Not to mention you have to pay for shipping via the website. So subscribers are getting a good value with this one, in my opinion.
