The Beauty Box by Bombay & Cedar February 2021 Review

The box comes with a booklet of information that lists the products and highlights some of the brands found within.

Facetory Sheet Mask in Everyday Jasmine - Retail Value $2.50

I used to love Facetory masks so I was really excited to see this! This is made with jasmine flower extract to moisturize your skin. It also has anti-aging benefits and smooths any redness or irritation. Facetory masks are also made without any harsh chemicals or artificial fragrances. This was a solid mask for the price. I used it before bed, leaving it on for about 15 minutes, and rubbed the excess serum in after removing it for that extra boost of hydration. I woke up feeling hydrated and smooth!

Almost Famous Magnifying Mirror with Suction Cup - Retail Value $34.99

This has a 15 x magnification which makes it great for tweezing or detailed makeup application. It also has suction cups so you can add it to a mirror or take it with you on the go if needed. I've never owned a magnifying mirror like this before, but it will be good to use when I am tweezing. I am not blown away by this item, but I'm sure I will get some use out of it soon. You could have received this in black, purple, or red.

Évolué Brightening Toner, 5 fl oz. - Retail Value $38.00

This toner is recommended for dry and sensitive skin. They recommend using this toner every other night by applying it with a cotton pad all over your face. The formula works to reduce the appearance of sun damage, age spots, scars, discoloration, protects against hyperpigmentation, and corrects uneven and dull skin. The key ingredients are distilled water, cranberry powder, lemon juice, kojic acid, pearl powder, vitamin C, and potassium sorbate. I have only used this two times so far since they recommend every other night application so I haven't noticed any big changes to my skin, but I love how cool it feels going on. My husband has dark spots on both of his cheeks near his eyes that are really bothering him. We have been waiting for that perfect product to reduce them so maybe this will be the winner in time.

Model Rock Graffiti Collection Eyeliner Squeeze Tube, 0.34 fl oz. - Retail Value $25.00 (found on clearance here for $2.00)

I have never used an eyeliner that comes in a squeeze tube. I was a bit confused, to be honest, and was a little bummed that this didn't come with a brush. After watching a few YouTube videos about similar products, I think a super fine and thin brush would have done the trick. While I have a liner brush, it didn't feel long and thin enough to work well with this. I did really love how smoothly this glided on. It is super black, highly pigmented, water-resistant, and dries in a matte finish. I know that if I had a better brush then I would have loved this product so maybe I will be on the lookout for one.

Laritzy Cosmetics Shade Stix Contour Stick - Retail Value $24.00

I received this contour stick in Aloha which is a cool bronze, but it also comes in Mahola which is a warm bronze. Even though I received the cool bronze, I still feel as though it was a bit too dark for me right now. I can see myself using this a bit more in the summer when I have more of a natural glow and am not using as much foundation. Even though I can't use this right now, I am really excited to because this product works like a dream! It glides onto your skin and feels very silky. It is highly pigmented so it blends easily but is very buildable. I could probably use this very lightly right now in certain areas, but overall I think it might be a tad too much right now.

Verdict: This month's The Beauty Box by Bombay & Cedar fell a bit flat for me personally. Normally I love the curation but this month felt a little thrown together. I wasn't super excited about the mirror, but it might become something that I use often. The eyeliner was fantastic, I just wish that it came with a brush to apply it properly, that would have felt like a complete curated set of items. The full-size toner is the shining star this month and is going to last me a while since the recommended use is every other night. The reviews on it are also really positive so I am excited to see the results over time. The contour stick is another goodie, it just isn't something that I feel works with my skin tone right now, but in the summer I am hoping to use it a lot more! I calculated a retail value of around $124.49 for this box, a great value for $31.95 a month. This box really is a great way to get quality products to test, and the bonus is that so many items are in their full-size. While this month wasn't my favorite, I still look forward to testing new products month after month from it.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your next box will most likely be March.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $31.95 with free shipping and I calculated a total value of $124.49, which means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Mask: $0.64
  • Mirror: $8.98
  • Toner: $9.75
  • Eyeliner: $6.41
  • Contour Stick: $6.15

I subbed to this box for some time. Shipping was really slow and sometimes no packing material was used, so items would arrive broken. Customer service is non-existent. And the “retail value” was often inflated, just as someone else commented – it was listed on the manufacturer website, even without a sale or discount, for less than what B&C claimed the value was. Finally gave up on trying to justify this box and cancelled. Use your judgement on if this type of arrangement is right for you.

Wow this is pretty bleak. Like they’re not even trying, l almost feel sorry for people who are subbed and don’t know they’re getting dollar store items.

The Almost Famous mirror has an MSRP of $15 on the label. I wonder why they say it retails for $34.99.

And you can literally buy these for less than $5 from Walmart

I know, and it is strange since the place where I got the retail price was from the Almost Famous site. Not sure if that was an error with the sticker or not?

I got one box from this company I think it was May 2020. It was well over $50 in Canadian. This box literally sucks. I have yet to see something that was exciting. So many other boxes out there that are so much better.

I remember waiting for this box for such a long time. You’re Canadian, I would steer away from this box. If you want a good Beauty Box, for makeup, check out tribe Beauty Box.
