PinkSeoul Plus Box January/February 2021 Review

Prior to purchasing a subscription, PinkSeoul will ask you several customization questions. Some products are more appropriate/recommended for a particular skin type, so be sure to figure out your skin type. This month, we also received this extra handy dandy info sheet breaking down the Korean skincare routine basics.

Here is the info sheet detailing the products included in this box.

Secret Key Sweet Glam Two-Tone Glow Lipstick in Lollipop Pink - Retail Value $10.00

I think it is pretty obvious where this brand drew inspiration for their packaging, but this doesn’t have the same weight to it that the Dior Lip Glow does. The packaging feels very light in my hands, and it houses a two-tone lip color that I would classify as a tinted lip balm rather than a lipstick. This only added a slight hint of color to my lips, but I liked the way it looked and that it felt nourishing on my lips as well.

Soon Watermelon Hydrating Lip Mask - Estimated Value $3.20 (buy a set of five for $16.00)

I really love Soon masks, but I find their prices to be a bit high. High-five for getting this in a subscription box! This lip mask is infused with watermelon and also features Aloe Vera, niacinamide, and allantoin. After wearing it for 15 minutes my lips felt softer and more hydrated, and I was a happy camper.

Tony Moly Wonder Ceramide Mochi Cleanser, 100 ml - Retail Value $6.00

I was excited to see this in this box-- the last Pink Seoul Plus box I received came with the toner and moisturizer from this line, and now I have the matching cleanser to complete the set. Like the other products, this features ceramides (a great skincare ingredient because they are naturally occurring in our own skin and help to keep our moisture barriers healthy), and it also has hyaluronic acid and fruit extracts. The texture of the cleanser was creamy, and it gently removed the sunscreen and grime of the day without stripping moisture from my skin.

Secret Key Starting Treatment Rose Essence, 150 ml - Retail Value $26.10

I was super impressed we received this full-size starting treatment essence in the box. The packaging on the box is Christmas-themed, but the bottle inside has the normal bottle design. I like the way this looks on my vanity and this also just has a great reputation in K-beauty skincare circles. This features awesome ingredients like galactomyces ferment filtrate, niacinamide, and rosewater. I use it on damp skin after cleansing and applying a hydrating toner but before applying thicker serums, and it really helps my dry skin to hold onto moisture. An essence isn’t a must-have step in your skincare routine, but if you have the time for it this certainly is one I like.

The Plant Base White Truffle Crystal Clear Serum, 30 ml - Retail Value $27.00

I’ve tried this serum before! It's made with 84% ginseng extract and 5%  niacinamide, and for the price, I am really happy with the ingredients list. It is designed to improve dull and lackluster skin with hyperpigmentation, and though some vitamin C products (which are also designed to target the same skin concerns) can irritate my skin, I had no such issues with this serum. This serum is free of drying alcohols, parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrance, and I think it would work for a wide variety of skin types. I never really saw a difference in my skin’s appearance when I used it, but I don’t have too many hyperpigmentation concerns.

Aronyx D-Panthenol Cica Repair Cream, 50 ml - Retail Value $12.90

Off the bat, I will admit I was disappointed this moisturizer is in a bright green tube, but only because I was hoping for duo chrome packaging like the box it came in! This is a heavier moisturizer that utilizes panthenol, niacinamide, Centella Asiatica, and beeswax, and I liked applying it at night to seal in my evening skincare routine. Both pantheon and Centella are great ingredients for soothing skin, and since my face is on the sensitive side this was a great inclusion for the box for me (subscribers received one of three moisturizers from Aronyx based on their skincare profile).

Graymelin Sun Block SPF 50+ PA+++, 50 ml - Retail Value $14.71

I am always happy to see sunscreen in subscription boxes because it is the one product I try to use every single day. This has a thicker texture that actually absorbed into my skin with no white cast (though I don’t know if those with a deeper complexion would have the same experience). It felt a little heavy for my personal tastes, but any sunscreen I don’t love for my face I will use on my arms and chest to keep that skin protected too.

Neogen Hyal Glow Rose Essence Pad, 1 ct - Estimated Value $0.40 (buy a jar of 70 for $28.00)

This is a single-use essence pad formulated with three types of Damask Rose (rose extract, oil, and water) along with eight types of hyaluronic acid. The one use I got out of this I enjoyed, but I would love to see the full-size included next time.

Some By Mi Yuja Niacin Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3.90

This sheet mask features Yuja extract (Yuja is a citrus fruit also known as yuzu) along with niacinamide and arbutin to brighten your complexion. This also has a lot of botanical extracts and hyaluronic acid, so while your skin won’t get much brightening effect from a sheet mask you wear for 15 minutes, it definitely will get a boost of hydration. The one thing I didn’t love about this mask is that it left my skin slightly sticky once I was done wearing it.

The Verdict: Pink Seoul sent us everything we needed for a full skincare routine (cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen!), and this is a box I really look forward to every two months. My favorites this month were the Secret Key essence and Aronyx moisturizer, and overall I felt like this box was well-curated to my skincare needs. Value-wise everything adds up to $104.21.
