February 2021 No Make No Life "Valentine, I Choose You" Review

The booklet gives you detailed information on each item, as well as instructions on how to use certain products. This month's theme is 'Valentine, I Choose You.'

Pokémon X Lovisia Heart Point Pack - Retail Value $9.50

Inside this pack is a sheet of 11 smaller heart-shaped patches. Each patch is infused with collagen, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter. You can use this anywhere on your face or body to add a boost of hydration. They recommend applying a patch to clean skin for 15 to 20 minutes. I found removing the individual patches to be really tricky. The sheet has a lot of extra serum on it but I couldn't really easily find where to remove the patches, and then once I did get a patch off it was very flimsy and thin. I can't say that these worked all that well I think because they were so thin, but I did enjoy testing them out on some dry patches that I have on my arms and legs they just didn't feel like a high-quality item that I would want to use again.

Mediheal PiggyMom SoakSoak Nose Pack - Retail Value $4.08 (currently out of stock)

I love these 3 step nose packs! They honestly work so well in my experience. I just used a pretty aggressive peel on my face so I didn't know if my skin would benefit from this pack so I decided to use it on my husband's nose. He has larger pores with some buildup so I thought this would be great for him, he was not overly excited but was a great sport in helping me! The first step is a cotton patch that works to soften sebum and to work out blackheads. The second patch is the adhesive that is going to clear out blackheads. Finally, you will use the bio-cellulose patch with collagen to tighten your skin. As always this pack worked wonders and really removed a ton of blackheads and buildup. My husband's nose looks more clear and his pores more refined.

Patch Holic Costopia Love Heart Eye Mask - Retail Value $3.69 (currently out of stock)

I really enjoy using eye masks, but when they are heart-shaped and sparkly then it is true love! These masks are really cool because they are made from sportswear material to help boost your skin's elasticity while also firming and lifting. They suggest using this mask on clean and moisturized skin for about 20 to 30 minutes. I love using eye masks in the morning if I have enough time because they really do a great job at taking away puffiness, especially on those extra tired mornings. Most days I don't have time for a mask before starting our day, but these work just as well at night! They are a great way to energize those tired eyes at the end of a day before bed. Either way, this mask worked really well at making me look more awake with a healthy glow in the dry eye area.

Collagen Peel-Off Face Pack - Retail Value $3.69 (currently out of stock)

I have tried a few peel-off masks over the years and they are usually hit or miss for me. They can be really tricky to remove at times and they usually leave me feeling very dry and tight. Luckily, this mask was really nice for my skin! I did have some trouble getting the mask off in certain areas but nothing too major. You can add about a coin size of this mask to your hand before applying it all over your face for about 15 to 20 minutes. The key is waiting until the mask is completely dry before peeling it off. The mask works to exfoliate dead skin cells and sebum while still smoothing and moisturizing. I did feel slightly tight after removing this mask, but since I used it at night I was able to apply my hydrating night serums. I woke to really smooth skin that was glowing. Perfect for a smooth makeup application!

Hello Kitty Makeup Bag - Retail Value $7.57 (currently out of stock)

This bag is oh so cute! The bag is a pretty hard plastic so not the best quality, but it is great to have on hand for storage. Plus, it is super easy to clean in case of any spills. My daughter is obsessed with Hello Kitty so she was very excited to see this bag and said, "kitty bag for me?!" So I decided to pass this on to her. We actually have a lot of these makeup bags and have found that they are perfect to use for art supplies! So this is now holding some fresh new markers for a very happy 2-year-old.

Pokémon X Lovisia Marble Lip Balm - Retail Value $7.09 (currently out of stock)

I could not have been more excited to see Jigglypuff! I received the pink and yellow, but you could have received Snorlax, Eevee, or Pikachu. My son is really into Mario games on his new Nintendo Switch so he thought it was so cool that I got something with Jigglypuff on it, he was bummed though that it was makeup and not something he could use. This balm isn't necessarily my style, it is really light pink and glossy with a slight shimmer to it. Not something that I would use every day. It is extremely hydrating though, made with hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil so it is great to use on a day when I am not wearing lipstick or at night when I want some extra moisture.

Pokémon X Lovisia Stick Blush - Retail Value $12.71 (currently out of stock)

Hi Pikachu! I was really excited to see that this little Pikachu pops right off of the blush stick so I was able to pass that along to my son. He was thrilled! This is a milky pink blush stick, but you could have received rose pink, coral pink, or a pearl white highlighter. This went on really well and is super creamy! It was light and blended nicely. It is also super hydrating, made with ultra-fine ground pearl to make a smooth and long-lasting application. I love that it is a stick so it makes application super easy, especially on the go.

Pokémon X Lovisia Heart Pressed Powder Compact - Retail Value $13.29 (currently out of stock)

I received Pikachu which is all pink for combating blemishes. You could have also received a green Eevee for reducing redness or Slowpoke yellow for covering dark circles. This pressed powder is made from fine minerals for a smooth finish to set your makeup in place. As you can see, the colors that I received are super light so they really stood out even used lightly on blemishes over or under my cream foundation. I think this might be better to use on its own maybe in the summer when I am wearing less makeup. Right now I think the coverage was just too heavy and the shade too light along with my foundation to use seamlessly.

Verdict: February's No Make No Life Box had a nice variety of makeup and skincare products. I was loving the Pokemon theme as well! My son was a little bummed that it was stuff he couldn't use, but he couldn't deny that the packaging was so fun! I wasn't in love with the makeup this month, the powder is a shade too light for me and heavy, the balm is a bit too pink and shimmery, but the blush was a real winner with that lovely pink glow. Normally I don't love peel masks, but this month was great for me, adding a nice exfoliation while still leaving me feeling hydrated. The eye mask and nose pack are always winners for me as well. At $35 + $10.95 for DHL shipping, I received 8 beauty items with a retail value of around $61.21. This is always a fun box filled with products that I normally wouldn't purchase for myself. I love testing skincare products, they always give my skin a quick fix. The quality this month didn't feel as high as in past months, but I really did enjoy testing each of the products and the cute Pokemon theme in the beauty products.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you'll receive the March box.

Value Breakdown: At $35 + $10.95 shipping ($45.95) for this box with a retail value of just over $60, you are approximately paying $5.74 for each of the 8 items.

A helpful tip I learned from Hey Honey when I was going to try their peel off mask was to apply a thin layer of a light moisturizer and allow it to absorb for 3-5 minutes. Then apply the mask as normal. Allow to completely dry. Once it’s dried, peel away. It should release your skin easier and not tug on those thinner skin spots. Give it a try. It might change your experience with peel off masks like it did for me. I no longer fear the peel off mask! They are just a fun mask experience again.

Thanks so much for the tip!

But how can the peel off mask do its job to exfoliate if you’ve hydrated the cells with moisturizer? In essence, it slips off and doesn’t grip what it’s supposed to grip.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

It’s mind boggling how this is still around. The cost is too high for the cheap looking items it usually sends.
