But first, here are the box basics:

This month's Boxycharm theme is “XOXO” and love. Speaking of love, I hope to find products that I will fall in love with in this month's box. With that said, let's jump in and see what this month has to offer.

Our very first product is from the brand Lavido and it's their Age Away Hydrating Cream. This is a moisturizer that is clinically proven to reduce wrinkles, fine lines and improve skin texture. Since I have reached the age of 40, my skin has changed in so many ways. I’m always in the search of something that will help improve my skin texture. As we age our skin goes through many different phases and we tend to lose that youthful glow we once had. This particular product is made up of a high concentration of several plant actives, sea buckthorn, and primrose seed oil. All are super rich in fatty acids and help to restore the skin's firmness and elasticity. What I love most about this product is that it has organic ingredients, which is really hard to find in a good moisturizer these days. After washing my face I used a small dime-sized amount to my slightly damp skin like the instructions recommend.

At first, I noticed it feels a bit greasy but thankfully that faded away pretty quickly.  It does have a slight rose scent but if that doesn't bother you, then this moisturizer is great. It's a very lightweight and hydrating product that feels good to the skin. All in all, this is a cream I can definitely see myself using daily.

Our next product is also a moisturizer. This one is from the brand HANSKIN and it's their Hyaluron Skin Essence. This product is made to help you achieve a natural glow. It has sodium hyaluronate and since I was not sure what that is, I did a little research. I found that it reaches the deep layers of your skin and attracts moisture while reducing inflammation. This is a powerful moisturizer that is said to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. We all know that water is so good at hydrating the skin, so I guess that is what helps create that natural glow. This is very useful if you're like me and don't drink as much water as you should. This product claims to have five major benefits. Moisturising, skin glowing, skin-boosting, skin balancing and skin softening.

Since I desperately need my natural glow back, I cant wait to give this product a shot. I washed my face again so I can see how this product absorbs into the skin. The instructions say to use an appropriate amount in your hand and apply it to the face. Since it's a very lightweight consistency almost like water, I used 2 or 3 drops. It's fragrance-free which I like and feels silky smooth to the touch. The product seems to sink into my skin almost immediately and leaves my skin plump, hydrated, and slightly sticky. Right now most of the five claims are accurate, I'll have to keep using it to see if the other claims are true as well. Regardless, three out of five isn’t bad.

Our next product is an eyeshadow palette from ACE Beaute and I’m already excited. Thanks to Boxycharm I have used their palettes many times before and have yet to be disappointed. Their formulas are always very pigmented, super soft, and easy to blend. This is their Nostalgia Palette. It consists of 15 fun and creative shadows with fun names. When I first saw the amazing colors in this palette, I was overwhelmed in a good way. Between the mattes and shimmers, there are so many color combinations a person could come up with using this palette. I decided to create a fun and playful look using only four shades.

Let's get started!

First I added some eyeshadow primer to my lids. Instead of beginning with a transition shade like usual, this time I jumped headfirst into color. Using a medium flat brush I placed the shade “ Carnival” all over my lids and into the crease as well. It's a gorgeous deep purple shade. I used windshield wiper motions and took my time to blend this shade out.

Here is how that deep purple shade looks

Next using a small flat brush, I took the shade “ Heat” and placed it directly across my front lids. I find this shade works best with a tiny bit of water on the brush. This is a shimmer shade with a pink hue, and I love how it just pops off that deep purple shade. There is a small amount of fallout from that shade, but nothing too bad.

Then using my finger, I applied the shade “ raspberry” to my outer corners. After I placed the shade on using my finger, I grabbed a fluffy brush and blended it out using circular motions.

Here is how that shade looks on the outer corners of my eyes.

Then I filled in my brows and using a tiny angled brush placed the shade “ Fun” under each arch.

Here is my eye look all completed after adding some black eyeliner to the lower and upper lash lines. I also used two coats of black mascara.

Before moving on to our next product, I added primer, BB Cream, and a little setting powder.

Our next product is from the brand Saint Luxe Beauty and it's their limited edition Secret Admirer & Love Letter Gel Lip Liner Duo. I can't say that I have ever used a gel lip liner before so I’m pretty curious as to how this will be different from my regular lip liners.

The two liners come in the shades “Love Letter” and “Secret Admirer”, and each is a dark nude color. I’m not a huge fan of nude shades but I wanted you guys to see how they look when worn together. I decided to fill my lips in with the shade “Love Letter” and lined my lips with “Secret Admirer”. The formula was created to be creamy, long-lasting, and hydrating. The shade “Love Letter” really tugged at my lips and was hard to apply but I had much better luck with “Secret Admirer”. These two shades looked really dark to me, so I was pleasantly surprised at how well they look when worn together. Of course, you can add these liners with the lipstick of your choice and get a better color payoff, which is what I plan to do next time I wear these.

Our final product is from the familiar brand of Wander Beauty. It's their Double Date Lip & Cheek product. This just happens to be a brand new product they recently released, so I’m excited to receive it. They come in two different shades and I received the shade “Rendezvous”.  It's a slight peach shade with hints of pink. This is a lightweight gel duo that has a sheer tint on top and a clear shimmer-free balm on the bottom. Each one can be used alone or layered on your lips, cheeks, and even eyes. I love that there is also a mirror included, which makes it perfect to toss into your purse for on-the-go use.

This 4-in-1 multitasking balm also adds a bit of hydration to your skin and lips. I wanted to see how this product looks alone so I removed the lip liner duo. I choose to use this on my lips since I have such oily skin, this formula would not work well as a blush for me. I used a lip brush and added the peach-tinted balm on my lips and then I added the clear balm on top.

I love how it's not too bright or too light, it's just the perfect amount of color. This product is perfect for those who like to wear a more natural makeup look. You can use the gloss on a daily basis and if you want a pop of color, you have it all in one small compact.

Verdict:

This month's BoxyCharm had plenty of options for makeup and skincare. I love how BoxyCharm mixes it up, helping me to discover new finds and new brands. This month's favorite would have to be the eyeshadow palette hands down. It has so many shades that I can't wait to try. I look forward to hearing what you guys loved most about February's Boxycharm.

I am addicted to subscription boxes for so many reasons. For one I simply love the element of surprise that each month brings, whether its beauty, skin care or anything else. I love the opportunity of trying out new products every month without having to commit to the full purchase. My favorite boxes are Boxycharm, Popsugar, and any Mommy and baby boxes. I am a brand new mother and I love trying out new things for my baby and I love how they always have something special for mommy!

Februarys was my first month and I was sooo happy to recieve that palette. I loved the cuticle oil in combination with the new brushes. That really gave my box Valentine’s vibes.

PS. The queen palette is not very pigmented at all and has lots of fall out. I would recommend using a different promo code. I’m super disappointed in the palette.
