Basic Man January 2021 Review
Mood Indigo Crew Tee, Size M - Listed Value $16.00
Every month I tell you I like these shirts, and this time is no different. The fit is perfect for me, and Basic Man has yet to send a color I don't like. This "Mood Indigo" is the same color as the boxers last month. I don't know why Basic Man doesn't just send the same color everything each month, but who I am to judge? I literally wear these shirts every day. They make great under shirts, sleeping shirts, or, you know, just shirts. Now I just have to stay the same shape so I don't grow out of all these shirts at once.
White Athletic Crew Socks - Retail Value $12.00 (Currently on sale for $8.00)
These are very similar to the white socks from November, albeit shorter and with slightly different stripes. I've been wearing those ones a lot, so you can bet I like these. They are white with two thin black strips at the top and a great accent at the toes. They are ribbed above the ankles and around the center of the foot. I believe this is the first pair of crew socks I've received with this subscription. I personally enjoy socks on the shorter side. So these were a big hit for me.
Black Boxer Briefs - Listed Value $15.00
Similar to the socks, these black boxer briefs are also from November. I believe this is the first time I have received the same color of the same item. I can hardly complain, because they are boxers and black goes with almost everything. The boxers are incredibly smooth and soft and have some mesh for ventilation. They are made from 95% bamboo viscose and 5% elastane. As I mention in my reviews, these boxers ride up a little in the back for me. They are still in heavy rotation for me.
Verdict: This was my sixth Basic Man review and this was the first time I received a repeat item. While I'm surprised they couldn't think up more basic colors, I'm not complaining. As I say time and time again, I love this subscription for the precise reason that it is basic. I couldn't really care less what color my boxers are. I particularly like the shirts, which I wear very often. One more month, and I'll have a shirt for every day of the week. The socks, which I've said before, are the only one of the three items that really warrants an opinion. That is to say I know I'll always like the shirt and, to a slightly lesser degree, the boxers. So in a roundabout way, this is a sock review and I personally liked this months socks. I've been wearing the ones from November a lot, actually. So it stands to reason I would like these. Once again, Basic Man does its job and continues to do it well.
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? The monthly shipments won't always be the same items as mine – so you can order anytime.

Value Breakdown: The total value of the items is – and I suspect always will be – $43.00. That's a great value for a subscription that costs $24.99. The average cost of each of the 3 items is $6.66. The average value per item is $14.33. I saw on the Basic Man website that they'll give you a $9 discount if you buy a set together, but even with the discount, it is not less than the $25 for the subscription. Not to mention you have to pay for shipping via the website. So subscribers are getting a good value with this one, in my opinion.
