Laurel & Reed December 2020 Review

As always, the packaging and presentation are beautiful!

The first card is just a general L&R info card while the second has specific info about the items and brands included inside.

Pura Botanical Princess Clementine Lite Nourishing Daily Face Cream, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $58.00

First, how adorable is the name 'Princess Clementine'? And the frosted glass and gold packaging is such a nice touch. This is a day cream you can apply before your makeup that feels really incredible on the skin. Though it says "lite" on the front, I still thought this was at least a medium-bodied texture. It isn't heavy, but you notice it! It also has a soft clementine scent that is in no way overpowering. Inside is a blend of sunflower seed oil, lactobacillus ferment (a great soother), aloe, chamomile, and more. The main benefits I noticed immediately after using this was a softer finish to my skin, a hydration boost, and a visibly improved texture.

Radiće Cosmetics Honey and St. John's Wort Mask, 1.69 oz - Retail Value $140.00

This is a pricy little mask! You can use it as either a treatment that you rinse off or sleep in, which means I slept in it because the less I have to do the better. And I really enjoy sleep masks! This definitely felt a little greasy, but again, I don't really care since I am snoozing while it's on. The ingredient list makes it worth it anyway, and this Rome-made mask has a lot to sing about. A few callouts: sunflower seed oil, cannabis sativa seed oil, sesame seed oil, and more. One heads up: I did notice the ingredient list on my box was different from the ingredient list on the brand's site and on Laurel & Reed's site. This might be due to a reformulation perhaps, but I just wanted to call that out. Regardless, I found this mask to be incredibly hydrating and feel great on my skin.

Eu'Genia Shea Dermatological Strength (Most Shea), 2 oz - Retail Value $20.59

While this was the least expensive item in my box this month, it might be my favorite. Shea is such a delightful treat for anyone's skin, but especially dry skin like mine and it has so many vitamins inside. And since the is 100% shea and non-comedogenic, I can use it literally anywhere. Face, legs, elbows, LIPS (try this!), anywhere I need moisture. The adorable little cube that this butter arrived in makes it feel somehow even more special, like a little block of gold. It is pretty perfect for your purse, your vanity, or your office desk. Natural shea like this does have a pretty specific natural scent, but I happen to like it and I think even if you might not at first, it might grow on you.

The Verdict: This Laurel & Reed delivery has a value of $218.59 which is a TON value for a $49.95 box. This was also an ideal assortment for dry and/or winter-weary skin because it was full of loads of nourishing ingredients. I also like how I felt like my entire day was covered by the day cream, the night mask, and the anytime shea. As usual, L&R has delivered new and exciting brands that I haven't had the chance to try yet. When you have been reviewing boxes for as long as I have, new brands and new formula never fail to excite! And if you are a fan of smaller brands and natural ingredients, this is a box that continues to impress.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

You’d think for $140 they could avoid having a typo on the mask jar. (St. John’s Worth)

Yeah, that’s really bad for any “carefully curated” sub item, but especially when you claim an RV of $140. If I picked that up in a higher end store and saw that, I’d put it back on the shelf. And this, paired with it apparently having three different ingredient lists, is IMO grounds to wipe that $140 off the total supposed value for this box. Whoever is behind the “curation” didn’t bother to look at the label nor verify the actual ingredients…and is not worthy of our money.

not my favorite laurel & reed box….

Looks luxurious and beautiful but wonder why all are basically moisturizers. They could have mixed it up a bit more.

I guess I didn’t even think of that because I am so dry that I am moisturizer obsessed. There is usually a little more variety. At least every thing was a winner this month!
