FYI – Mostess is Pausing Subscriptions

FYI - Mostess box is pausing the subscription (Thanks for the heads up, Susan!):

Dear Mostess Community,

With your support, Mostess grew from a solo operation that shipped curated boxes to friends and family from a small apartment, to a female-owned, national home hosting and decor brand that has been featured in Forbes, Southern Living, and Fast Company, among others. Along the way, we greatly expanded our subscription service, partnered with incredible national brands, and made a difference in our community through donations to important charities.

But like many independently-owned small businesses across the country, ours was thrown into upheaval by the drastic changes to our economy caused by COVID-19. Supply chains are broken. Costs have increased dramatically. And these startling changes continue to negatively impact many of our curated partners. These issues are not going to change any time soon. We have fought the good fight over the past year and learned a lot along the way.

The principal lesson of the last year is that Mostess must change with the times in order to thrive into the future while staying true to our brand and core values. After a multi-month evaluation process, we have two important updates to share with you about the future of  Mostess.

First, Mostess will be pivoting its business model to offer a different array of products and services. We can’t say much about the specifics yet, but we are going to continue working hard and look forward to inviting you to the next chapter of Mostess.

Second, with this pivot, we will be placing a pause on all memberships and seasonal subscription boxes. We did not make this decision lightly. But the challenges caused by COVID-19 will simply be insurmountable for our subscription model for the foreseeable future. As part of this pause, every Mostess Member will receive a refund for any prepaid amount and we will contact you with further details very soon.

In the meantime, we will continue to work with our corporate clients on custom orders while also offering you a variety of handpicked home items (that ship fast!) in our MOSTESS SHOP.

We can’t thank you enough for your continued support of Mostess. This community has carried us through! I can’t wait to invite you to be a guest as we transform and grow our brand.

With both a heavy heart and a full smile, I invite you to raise a glass:

To a fond farewell to the old, cherished memories that we hold, and a future that is bright and bold!

If you are a Mostess subscriber, you'll receive a refund for any prepaid amount.

I guess comments that are not to msa liking get deleted. Noticed there were a few removed since yesterday. Guess it is time for me to quit this website that doesn’t allow fir first amendment rughts of expression. Ridiculously expensive subscription.

The first amendment only protects you from being censored by the government (provided what you are saying is not obscene). It has no bearing on private entities, i.e. a subscription box review blog, or Twitter. They are allowed to delete comments or ban users as they see fit.

Props to them for realizing there was trouble ahead and stopping the sub rather than stringing people along for a year like other struggling subs we know.

This was the last sub box that I kept…I always loved their products and looked forward to each seasons box. I’m sorry to see them end but I understand. Hopefully some day in the future they will be able to start up boxes again.

Maybe they will decide to curate a more inexpensive box that the masses can afford. Fingers crossed. I liked their style but they were hugely overpriced.

Completely agree!! It always looks like an awesome box, but grossly overpriced.

Same exact thoughts and sentiments!

Molly Honey, you took the words right out of my mouth (or off my keyboard, in this case, lol). I totally agree. Very expensive for me. I would like to see the same concept in a box, but more affordable for those of us who aren’t wealthy.

Greta, we have been forced to accept that for decades? How’s the expanding gap between rich and poor treating ya? At some point, middle class fall further and further down. Don’t end up on the wrong side of the gap 🙂

They had nice boxes, but they were priced way too high in this market. I always wanted to buy but could never justify their higher-than-average (even for a luxury box) cost.

I’m sad for them. I know the pandemic has been particularly tough on small businesses.

They were always priced outside of my range, but I enjoyed seeing their curations for inspiration.
