BREO BOX Anniversary Box Review

BREO BOX shipped my walnut box in an outer cardboard box to protect it. The wooden box itself was actually really heavy and quite beautiful!

They've also included a beautiful and informative booklet featuring each item included in the box for a more in-depth look at how to use them.

Greater Goods Sous Vide - Retail value $124.00

I really love to cook, but things like sous vide I find kind of intimidating. As much as I would have wanted one of these, I never would have bought one for myself for fear it would have been wasted on me. Which... it may have been. The jury is still out. In my opinion, this device has a learning curve, even if using it is actually quite easy. The first thing I tried was a thinner cut steak. We will get into why that was a mistake shortly. First, I attached the sous vide to my stockpot by using the easy to twist and tighten screw mechanism. I then filled the pot with water to the fill line indicated on the tool itself. After positioning my pot on the stove, I plugged it in! The device lit up and I used the knob to twist the dial to the correct temperature. It also allows you to set a cooking time. The whole interface was actually really easy and effortless. I did some quick googling and set the temperature to 129℉ (I like my steaks medium-rare). This tool can range from 68℉ to 203℉. I also set the timer for an hour, though from what I have read the time doesn't really matter so much because your food will only cook to the temperature set. So my medium-rare steak will remain medium-rare no matter how long it is cooked, simply because the temperature stays the same. My thinner steak cooked up in literally 15 minutes. Since this did not come with any sous vide bags, I used larger zip-lock bags that I removed the air from by submerging them in water up to the zipper and then sealing them. The water pressure pushes all the air out and it worked quite well.

Here is where I went wrong. First, I should have chosen a thicker steak cut. Second, I should have seared the steak after cooking. I didn't realize that was a thing, so I just ate the steak right out of the bag. The flavor was WONDERFUL, but the whole thing felt a little... wet. Searing it would have given it the finishing touch it needed to be a truly magnificent steak. I am really excited to try this out with chicken breasts and even veggies, like Brussels sprouts!

MYO Hammer Massage Gun

I have seen these muscle-relief guns all over the internet (one was following me around Instagram for a while!) and I really wanted one. I took up weightlifting back in November and I have been really consistent and increasing my weights regularly. While that is great for my body, I do find that I am sore pretty much all the time. Every single time I looked into buying one of these, the price tag stopped me in my tracks. They are anywhere from $100 to $400 depending on the brand. So I always chickened out. I can safely say now that it would have been worth it to buy one. This thing is intense! I have yet to increase the power level over the lowest option (there are 3 levels). It is shocking how much power this tool has. And it doesn't have to be plugged in unless it's charging. It also comes with 4 different attachments for use over different areas of your body, though I have yet to use anything other than the round foam ball.

My favorite place to use this massager is the back of my thighs. I love deadlifting and squatting heavier weights which means very sore and tender hamstrings. It feels a little too strong for my calves depending on how sore I am, but I have noticed that using this regularly reduces the overall time I feel super sore and relaxes all those muscles that get super stiff. It also feels incredible on my glutes. I will say that it is powerful enough to feel like way too much on the sides of my lower neck, but I am prone to dizziness so this doesn't surprise me at all.

I approached my thoughts on this from the perspective of a weight-training newbie, but I think it would benefit anyone who experiences soreness for any reason. It is wonderful for sore back muscles, tender shoulders, and even smaller arm muscles. You get a lot of massage time per charge and the whole system is very storage- and travel-friendly. I am really impressed with this item and happy it arrived in such a special box.

Model D Detrola by Shinola - Retail Value $395.00

I have always wanted to be a fancy watch person, but I never have actually treated myself to one other than a used Apple Watch. While I love wearing that digital timepiece, I feel I don't really need it since I have a small Fitbit for the gym and I am mostly WFH or in-session with a client where I don't need the distraction of it lighting up with every notification or text message. There is something about an "old-fashioned" hands and dials sort of watch that I find really appealing at this point in my life and though this watch could be seen as more of a masculine choice, I absolutely love wearing it. It might feel a bit oversized for more delicate wrists, but as someone who wears the larger 42 mm Apple Watch, this 43 mm watch face size felt flashy in just the right way. The black-on-black design feels edgy and clean and even though the straps are similar to the sporty silicone straps of my Fitbit, they feel really luxe and comfortable to wear. The case is made of super durable resin and the face is protected by K1 crystal, another incredibly durable choice for this handsome watch. Even the little clicks while you change the time and date just feel special. Shinola is a really high-quality watch brand and they are manufactured in Detroit, adding a very cool 'Made in the USA' vibe to a watch I am already slowly falling in love with. Now if only I can keep Will from "borrowing" it...

Even Birdie admires it.

Detroitwick Candle - Estimated Value $88.00 (similar candle for that price here.)

I liked the style of this candle right away. It was poured into a very heavy concrete vessel meant to be reused as a succulent planter or pencil holder after you burn your candle. I can't quite place my finger on the scent. The only details were that it was designed for BREO BOX. I do think there are notes here of fresh air, citrus, and white florals. It is very springy and fresh and fills a room nicely.

Ember Travel Mug - The Ember 2 retails for  $179.95

My last item is a really cool Ember travel mug. I will say that it is on the smaller side (it holds 12 oz) but if you are a tea drinker like myself, this is a great size! And the ability to let you set the exact temperature you want the mug to stay is absolutely perfect for some of my more finicky green teas that quickly go bitter if they get too hot and are just flat and terrible if they cool down. Plugging in the charging coaster was easy (and it even included international prong options). As soon as I placed the mug on the charging coaster, it greeted me with a hello and an LED battery icon as it charged. After it was all set, a simple twist of the base allowed me to set the temperature anywhere between 120℉ and 145℉. You can change the temperature by twisting the base or by downloading the Ember app where you can actually control the temperature of your beverage via your phone. Is this the future? It lasts for 2 hours by itself and can go all day long if you keep the coaster on your desk to rest it on. This is totally an above and beyond fancy way to make sure your tea is perfect from the first pour to the last sip, but I love the consistent temperature and how fancy it makes me feel. While this is, again, something I never would have spoiled myself with, I do have to admit that as someone who tends to buy expensive tea, it is nice to enjoy it at the perfect temperature consistently.

Verdict: This BREO BOX felt really, really special. And it honestly should be for $500. I know, I know, this box is super expensive. But the value is certainly here. The watch alone covers about 4/5th of the box cost! Everything inside was fancy and expensive, and honestly a gadget lover's dream. It also felt well-rounded with each item touching on a different part of my life (style, gym, kitchen, TEA...). It was also filled with the sorts of items I have kind of always wanted to buy, but never actually added to my cart because I can be pretty practical. If this box is within your budget and you love the contents, you are certainly not going to be disappointed.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box? Yes, but our friends at BREO let us know there are less than 70 boxes left! So if this is calling your name, snag it sooner rather than later.

Value Breakdown: At $500 for this box, you're paying roughly $100 per item.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’ve been interested in a myo hammer for a while – will be great to try. I use my Anova Sous Vide weekly, best kitchen tool ever next to my Vitamix. I’ll start jumping rope to try that too. Shinola? OMG the best and since I run a made in usa blog – they are my jam!

I am sorry, but for 180.00 bucks, that cup better get up and make my tea not just keep it warm. Maybe go to the store and buy my tea as well.

Thanks for replying 🙂

Could that watch be used for a man? I wouldn’t wear it but I think my son would like a proper watch.

The watch face is the size of a typical men’s watch. Also, Shinola is a really hot brand and I think your son would be over the moon to receive it as a gift!!
