Allure Beauty Box February 2021 Review

This handy booklet has all the product info inside.

Christophe Robin Daily Hair Cream, 3.4 oz – Full Size! Retail Value $43.00

This was yet another product I was seriously excited about. I love the Christophe Robin brand and though I am not super into hair products (I have lazy girl hair habits) I do often use hair creams and balms to smooth frizz and give my locks a little shine. This cream smells SO good. It certainly has a sandalwood note but it isn't so earthy or masculine that it might turn off some subscribers. While I usually put a pea-sized amount of product like this in my hands and then rub them together and smooth them down and through my dry hair, I also loved using this on damp hair. I found it really enhanced my waves if I applied it to freshly showered locks and then loosely braided them into two braids before bed. When I woke up I released the braids and was rewarded with beachy waves that looked really pretty all day. Most of you know I am an OUAI addict and I love their finishing cream. Well, I loved this stuff just as much! I hope you all enjoy this addition as much as I did. (I need a second tube to live in my purse!)

Floss Lip Advocate in 'Your Honor' - Full Size! Retail Value $18.00

So, 2020 was the year that made me really appreciate effortless makeup. With nowhere to go and masks to wear, the effort I put into my daily makeup routine went from medium coverage concealer + blush + mascara + shadow + highlighter + finishing powder down to a good brow gel, CC or BB cream, highlighter, and an effortless lip. Sure, I am pretty excited to get back to normal life, but some of these makeup habits will totally be sticking around and I think an easy lip might be my favorite of them all. This lip crayon is lightweight, buildable, and a breeze to apply (even without a mirror). This shade is a universally flattering pink and doubles as a cream blush in a pinch!

Here is an arm swatch.

And here it is on my otherwise makeup-free face. I like how this shade of pink didn't just make my entire face look even more red.

Madeca Derma Revitalizing Mask - Listed Value $1.99

I tend to use a sheet mask most nights, so I am always up for a new brand to cross my desk! This 100% cotton sheet mask had a great fit and was coated with a heavier, slightly white serum. I am glad I saved it for evening use because it was a lot heavier than I was expecting and it left a little behind on my face that felt great to massage in before bed. It contains my absolute favorite botanical, Centella Asiatica (aka Cicapair!) which always leaves my skin feeling so calm and significantly less red.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-in-Milk Sunscreen for Face & Body SPF 100, 5 mL - Estimated Value $1.39 (buy a full size 90 mL for $24.99)

Most of you know that I am an SPF-obsessive person. It's true that I burn really easily, which makes that protection extra important for me, but I really, really believe that SPF should be a daily layer on everyone's face. The glorious, warm, beautiful sun is also the number one cause of skin damage and aging so if you care about keeping your face youthful, SPF is your best friend. I will admit that SPF 100 feels like A LOT of SPF, but if you are like me and you tend to burn easily, this is a great little tube to keep on hand when you know you are going to be out in the sun for a long time. It does feel a little heavy, but the protection is worth it.

Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask, 10 mL - Estimated Value $28.67 (buy a full size 60 mL for $172.00)

FYI: Subscribers will receive this item OR Amorepacific Vintage Single Extra Essence OR Amorepacific Cleansing Foam OR L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream. Per Allure, this variation depends on your member history, and subscribers will not receive the same product more than once.

My final item was a tube of one of my favorite luxury masks from a brand I totally will never be able to afford. Everything about this stuff feels luxe. The scent is expensive and rosy, the texture is dense and heavy, and the texture on my face is pure velvet. While this is technically a mask you apply in a thick layer and then wipe off, I tend to treat it more like a high-intensity moisturizer and use just a little all over my face, rubbing it in gently to absorb. I always wake up the next day feeling like a very fancy and radiant lady.

Verdict: This Allure box has a total value of around $241.05 which is just really awesome for a $23 box. The mix of brands this month was top-notch in my book! I am shocked that such an expensive product from U Beauty was included (and this was the medium size. They could have gone smaller, but didn't!). I am also really happy with my new Christophe Robin hair cream and the very pretty and totally wearable Floss lippy. The sheet mask, SPF, and amazing Sisley mask were just the icing on the cake!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m ecstatic about this box! The value is over the roof! I’ve tried the U Beauty (10ml) from another box and it really did wonders for my skin. I was not happy about the retail price though, I’m so glad that Allure put in a full sized one for another few months of use! This month far exceeded my expectations.

Mine has been stuck in the ice storm in Dallas since Friday. How do products react to being frozen solid?

Paula R. Meegan

Mine was stuck outside in the snow for a couple of days. I just brought it in and let it get to room temperature and everything seems fine.

Got notice that my box shipped on the 13th. Still no movement. When are we going to get rid of this horrid postmaster???

Reply ButtonReply

Amy

The U Beauty resurfacing compound is amazing. Within three days, my skin looks better — small blemishes are gone and my face just looks great!

Pat Greene

Damn. I’m so excited for this box. I thought I’d unsubbed, but no, still going and it’s been shipped! Can’t wait to try this resurfacing serum.

tasha

I haven’t recieved mine yet but this is the best box in months. I have the annual and all of the boxes have sucked since the price went up and much worse quality than when the box was cheaper.

Samantha

I havnt been happy with the boxes atall lately so I stopped with the spoilers and was still disappointed plus I never received December and no one will reply to me! I was actually pretty happy with this box. I’m not a fan of samples because I get those for free but at least these ones are something I can actually stick in my bag and use. I never mind sunscreen because I’ll use it. The full size products were great. I wish all the boxes were this good.

I received one of my boxes today and received the AmorePacific cleanser. I normally don’t use cleanser but was excited to try it. My skin feels incredible. So smooth that I keep touching it. This was an incredible box!
I wish I hadn’t signed up for an annual Beauty Heroes subscription as I like Allure more and it’s 1/3 of the cost. (Beauty Heroes sent a $400 cream in December that pills no matter how I use it and a body butter in February that is heavily scented like tumeric/spices. That’s a big nope from me BH.)

Ckay

Did anyone get the essence if so what size?

Reply ButtonReply

A

Question to the group- If I use retinol serum at night, can I use the resurfacing during the day? I don’t subscribe but I’m thinking of getting through Amazon.

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

That’s how I would use it. I don’t know how much retinol is in it, but I’m guessing not much since there is a lot of actives in this serum.

Reply ButtonReply

Ckay

Do you use one from the doctor office?

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

I got my box today. The variant was the Amore cleanser. Not my first choice, but okay.

It actually arrived a day earlier than the Postal Service predicted. Good job, USPS.

The U Beauty serum came wrapped in cellophane. The scent is a little odd, but it isn’t unpleasant or very strong.

The scent for the Christophe Robin was not what I was expecting. It isn’t bad, and it’s not very strong either.

Abigail Smith

My thoughts exactly…the one variation item. I paid upfront for a year and I got the cheapest option of the four possible choices?

Even the box option on Amazon has a higher priced variety option (not the cleanser).

Reply ButtonReply

Jinytte

I’ve been subbed 6 years and I have, 95% of the time, received the cheapest variation. It’s gotten to the point where if Allure has variations, I know the least valuable will be in my box. And yep, I got the cleanser. XD

Stephanie

I just received my box. Is it just me or does the hair cream smell like CK One? It’s definitely some 90’s perfume I used to wear……

Reply ButtonReply

B

I’m seriously reading all the comments right now because I can’t place which late 90s/early 00s cologne it smells like. It’s not ckone though, I have some of that so I smelled it to compare. Maybe Cool Water?

Reply ButtonReply

Leticia

Now I am sad that I bought an extra dermelect self esteem beauty sleep serum maybe I’ll alternate the compound and the serum daily.

Reply ButtonReply

Felicia

I ordered mine from Amazon yesterday and was charged a few hours later but then today I was notified I got a refund. Does that mean the box is sold out and I won’t get February?

Reply ButtonReply

DST

I actually ordered 2 more boxes from Amazon yesterday morning. It shows delivery end of Feb- beginning of March.
This is a first box in months that is worth getting. I wanted to get one extra for myself (U Beauty is awesome, hair cream-fantastic), and one for my teenage daughter. I hope this resurfacing compound will help with her temperamental skin. Too bad it won’t fix her moods.

Reply ButtonReply

Ana

“Too bad it won’t fix her moods.” hahahhaahahaha
I wish it could fix my moods too lol

Amethyst

It sounds like Amazon said, “Bye, Felicia!” (Sorry, I just had to!)

But, seriously, I hope that you can get the box. I don’t know what it means that they refunded it. It does kind of sound like it is sold out. can you do a live chat with an Amazon rep? Or maybe it’s better to contact Allure; I’m not sure.

Reply ButtonReply

Felicia

Lol…I have reached out to Allure but haven’t heard back from them yet. I will try the live chat with Amazon thanks for the suggestion.

Pat Greene

Wow! Super excited for this box, particularly the hair cream and resurfacer. Thanks Megan.

Tolin

I just got mine the other day (from Amazon) and will be digging into it tonight. This is my first one in several months. Every item seems like it will be a home run for me!

Reply ButtonReply

Ana

Hey Tolin,

How many days did it take Amazon to ship?

Reply ButtonReply

Tolin

Sorry I’m just seeing this now; I didn’t get an email notification when you replied to my comment for some reason. I ordered on the 2nd, Amazon shipped on the 4th, and I received it on the 8th (I’m in the northeast).

Tiffany A

I’m still waiting for my box from Amazon but I’m glad i didn’t skip. I skipped like 4-5 times because I didn’t like the offerings. This box though, looked fantastic!

If I get this box through Amazon is it easy to unsubscribe?…I would like to try a couple of months first before I commit to longer.

Reply ButtonReply

Tolin

Yes, you can unsubscribe with just a click. I’ve done it several times without a hitch.

Reply ButtonReply

bunnygirlbrem

It’s super easy to unsubscribe. I cancel and resub all the time through Amazon. In fact, just resubscribed today. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

alli

Super easy! Just press cancel under “manage my subscriptions” in your amazon account. I have done it several times to get a box I want and cancel after it’s shipped with no problems.

Snow

Another great review, Megan (and awesome pic btw, very pretty!)

I like the point you made about different age ranges of models. Sure being young and in your twenties is a great thing, but everyone ages and it’s nice to see that reflected in skincare products (I’m anti anti-aging lol.)

Looking forward to trying the serum the most as texture issues are what I’m currently battling and heck yeah for the hair cream!

Now I just need my box to ship 😁

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Thank you, Snow! It is a great lip color for sure. 🙂
And yes, my 20s were great for my skin.. I needed nothing but SPF! But now I truly value seeing a product that works for a wide range of people. Instant respect for any brand that embraces that too!

Hope your box ships soon!

Reply ButtonReply

Cc

Sad that this looks better to me than the Ipsy GB X. I’m receiving both, but I was a little disappointed in the X

Reply ButtonReply

Jacki

“Very specific sort of scent” lol. I’ll look forward to that! My box should ship in the next week. I’d really love to receive the Sisley mask… I love all things roses

Reply ButtonReply

Randie

This is my first box in ages. I’m super excited about the hair cream and the resurfacing compound and would love to hear how others have incorporated them into their daily routine. TIA

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I would start by trying the resurfacing compound one or two nights a week, spaced out until you make sure your skin is ready for it more often. If you are feeling good, move to nightly! I like to cleanse, tone, serum (this is a good spot for the compound!), then moisturize.

As far as the hair cream I just keep it closeby or in my purse because my hair has been a ball of frizz lately with all the static!

Reply ButtonReply

Christy

This is stellar. I signed up for the year subscription at a discounted rate (I think I’m paying $13/box?), but the last couple of months, I didn’t even feel like the box was worth $13.

But this box is a homerun. The serum and hair cream are right up my alley (and full size!) and I’m excited to have a nice, wearable lip color that doesn’t have weird color variants. And a sample of a super bougie skin product? Sure! OH – AND AND AND a powerful sunscreen for my pasty skin tone. Count me in!

Reply ButtonReply

amy

I feel the same, I was regretting the annual subscription because every month since it began the boxes have been awful (and I’m a cup half-full girl!). I have been surprised at the rapid decline once the monthly rate went up. Thank goodness for this month!! I don’t even know what to do with that coupon for fingernails from last month, lol

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Yessss!!! It is such a good one. And for that discounted rate? Home run.

Reply ButtonReply

Izzie

I’m anxiously waiting for my box, I want to try the hair cream to see if i should get a box through amazon 😛

Reply ButtonReply

Ashleigh

I’m thinking the same thing! This looks like a box worth getting twice 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Jeannie

I did order another through Amazon. This one is worth getting twice IMHO.

Megan K.

I am already scared of running out tbh. 😓

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

Ha ha, right? If we REALLY like the box, we can always get a back up through Amazon 👍

Reply ButtonReply

Isa

This is the first box that has made me regret not signing up for the annual deal they offered awhile ago! Looks like a good one.

Reply ButtonReply

Tricia

This is such a great box!
