Stitch Fix Kids December 2020 Review

Our box took almost a month to arrive due to transit delays. It seems they are back on track now though!

In our Stitch Fix Kids delivery, we received this cute sticker sheet along with an envelope with a prepaid shipping label for easy returns and exchanges.

This is the invoice that was sent in the Fix. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $230, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $152.50. That's a savings of $77.50 on this Fix!

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist. I have a cozy chenille cardigan that Liv likes to steal so this month I asked her stylist to send her one of her own. Let's check it out!

RUMI+RYDER The Chenille Curved-Hem Cardigan, Size M - Cost to Keep $24.00

Liv loves soft fabrics and getting cozy, and I have a really soft chenille cardigan that she has taken to stealing and snuggling up with. While I don't mind sharing, I thought it would be fun to see if we could get her one in her size. Her stylist totally delivered! This cardigan is super soft, very cozy, and just a bit baggy on her making it the perfect fit for cozying up in.

RUMI+RYDER The Ruched Brushed Jogger, Size M - Cost to Keep $20.00

You can't get cozy without some super soft joggers to lounge in! I recently sized Liv up since she is leaning more towards 7/8 versus the previous 6/7 size she was in, and so these were just a bit big on her. Luckily with the fitted cuffs at the bottom and the elastic waistband, they weren't falling off of her. She loves how soft they are and I thought the ruching at the bottom was really cute. I am also okay with them being big on her since it means she won't outgrow them any time soon!

Someone else couldn't resist these soft pants either and he put them on himself so he could pose for a photo.

Miss Selfie Natalya Puffer Coat, Size 8 - Cost to Keep $38.00

This coat is SO adorable! I really love the quilted design and the cute little waistband that gives it a fitted look. It also seemed like it would be really warm since it is thick and has that fleece lining inside. We already have a nice warm winter coat, so we didn't keep this one, but I so would have if she needed it. The quality was great!

Xtraordinary Maye Brushed Lattice Back Dress, Size 8 - Cost to Keep $28.00

She looks way too grown up in this dress! I love the heathered burgundy color and that cute criss-cross detail at the back. It also has a great flare to the skirt and the tie around the waist ensures a perfect fit at the waist to really show off that flare. She liked this one a lot because it was comfortable, soft, and it had a good swing to the skirt.

Crown of Hearts Cammeron Tulip Hem Hoodie, Size M - Cost to Keep $20.00

This top is kind of like a thin activewear sweatshirt. Since it's a bit baggy on her she could probably wear it over a shirt, but it's pretty thin and probably meant to be more fitted. She liked the color a lot and the fact that Grandma has a similar one. It was stretchy, had a hood, and I liked the cute detail at the hemline, but neither of us was too crazy about it.

RUMI+RYDER Kimia Bell Sleeve Graphic Brushed Swing Dress, Size M - Cost to Keep $28.00

This dress was cute and fun with the sequin unicorn. It was also really soft and it had pockets, but it was so big on her! It really looked like a nightgown from behind. This would probably be an incredibly cute dress on someone who could fill it out. Those bell sleeves are too cute!

RUMI + RYDER The Fleece Lined Legging, Size M - Cost to Keep $18.00

My poor girl is only 6, but she is the height of an 8-year-old, so every so often we get to this awkward point where she has to size up in clothing for her height, but then the clothing just sags on her because she has a skinny little 6-year-old body. It looks like we are here. I have no doubt that she will grow into it all quickly, but for now, these pants weren't quite cutting it for us. She has them rolled up a good bit here, and they are very big at the waist. It's strange because the smalls that we received in previous months are too tight on her, but the mediums that she received last month fit her a little better than this. These are cute, match her style, and the soft fleece lining is very cozy, but these were just too big.

RUMI + RYDER The Peplum Longlseeve Top, Size M - Cost to Keep $16.00

This shirt is cute and simple (and wrinkled -- sorry!), and the lightweight material is soft and comfortable, too. It has a lot of stretch to it and that cute ruffle is just enough detail to take it beyond basic. She liked this top a lot. This is from the same brand as the leggings, so it seems the tops in size medium are a better fit for her than the pants.

RUMI + RYDER The Fleece Lined Legging, Size M - Cost to Keep $18.00

These fit her similarly to the unicorn leggings, they are the same brand and size, but this time we rolled the waistband down instead of rolling the pants up. These were still so big on her and falling down at the waist, even after a roll. These are just as soft and cozy as the other ones and these would go with anything since they are simple and black.

RUMI+RYDER The Brushed Sequin Top, Size M- Cost to Keep $20.00

I feel like we have seen every color variation of this top and while I always tell them that it's cute but we already kept one of them and it's not really a top we need more than one of. It is a cute top, the sequin unicorn is fun, and again, the tops from this brand seem to fit her better than the bottoms.

The Verdict: My daughter received such a great mix of styles from Stitch Fix Kids this month! We had a few fit issues, but overall, everything she received really suited her style well. I really loved that adorable jacket that her stylist sent and Liv was so happy to have a cozy chenille cardigan of her own. Let's hope she stops stealing mine, now! While you might pay a little more for the clothes, the styles are cute and unique, and you can't beat having them sent right to your door for you to try on and send back hassle-free!

Value Breakdown: This styling service costs $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $230. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the Fix is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $152.50. That’s a discount of around 34% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Every time I read your reviews I find at least one thing I wish came in adult sizes! Maybe that means I’m just a kid at heart? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Do you ever exchange sizes if there is something you like? I’m just curious if the process for kids is the same as for adults.

I definitely thought the unicorn dress was a nightgown until I read your comments. She’s definitely in that awkward growing stage. I loved the tights with the purple unicorns. Too bad they were too big.

Isn’t it funny? It looks so silly on her! I know I’m going to blink and she’ll be growing out of these things in no time though! Haha

Everything is so cute on her! I did think the unicorn dress was a nightgown, before reading the info! At least she can grow into the pieces you kept. Always a bonus to have kids clothes last long enough. lol
