Pet Treater Cat Pack January 2021 Review

I used to find the dog version of Pet Treater a little bit random but the cat version (maybe because it is smaller) is often more focused:

There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a couple of inserts.

On to the items:

Kerchief

First up we have a kerchief. You will get one of these every month; they have different designs and at this point, they are custom-printed for Pet Treater and an appropriate size for a cat, which was not always the case, so that is an improvement. My cats don’t really like wearing kerchiefs (seems like more of a dog thing) but I can usually get it on at least one or two of them.

Cosmic Catnip Heart Cat Toy

I couldn’t find this for sale online; I suspect it is a Valentine’s Day toy from years past. (There were some similar ones but it’s hard to say if they’re the same size/materials/quality, and prices were kind of all over the place.) This has a canvas-like outer texture that Monkey seems to like although based on my cats’ reactions I think the catnip may have been a little old in this one.

ASPCA 2-Pack Cat Toys, Cloud and Sun

These are lightweight and made from felt. I am pretty sure there is only catnip inside and no stuffing. I think these are also a closeout; I found a press release about them from 6 or 7 years ago, but they seem to not be made any longer. I got Sneaky to lick these by rubbing a treat on them, and they are a good size for tossing around, plus my cats tend to prefer smaller toys like these.

Authority Healthy Joint Support Cat Treats, Salmon Formula (3 oz) – Retail Value $3.49

I was hoping Sneaky would like these as I think she may have the early stages of arthritis so I have been looking for a good joint support treat. She was not a big fan, which is kind of weird. However, Monkey thought they were great, which is also weird, as he is not usually interested in most treats unless they have a strong tuna smell, which these do not. Oh well, someone liked them so they will get eaten!

Gratuitous cat photos:

(Sneaky is the calico, Madison is black, and Monkey is tan and white.)

Verdict: I was unable to calculate a total value for the January Pet Treater Cat Pack since not all of the items were available online. This was a pretty typical month for the Pet Treater Cat Pack, with one type of treat, a kerchief, and two toy items. I like that the toys were different in size and texture. Although I think they were a little old, spraying them with catnip spray and/or putting them in a baggie with fresh catnip should bring renewed interest.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first pack will ship immediately filled with the most popular fan favorites. Also, there may be some variation among boxes sent during the same month.

Value Breakdown: At $15.00 per month for this subscription, you are paying approximately $3.00 per item.

I tried to sign up using the coupon code provided but CATPACK50 didn’t work, it just returned a weird error. I found a different 50% coupon elsewhere – ANIMALOGIC – but I don’t know how long it will be accepted. Pet Treater declined some coupons with a note about when they expired, but not the MSA code.

I have been getting this box/bag for 3yrs now and am close to cancelling. It used to be great with unique toys and treats. Now it is just more of the same boring toys over and over that are pretty much like last months toys. Very disappointing and not worth having a huge basket of the same type of toys over and over. I want more bat wings, business ties, play mats and the like…. Thanks for the review and to see that you feel about the same
