Switch is a jewelry rental service that lets you try out designer jewelry without the commitment. You pick your favorite pieces and try them out for as long as you want with a relatively small monthly fee. Switch also offers the option to purchase jewelry pieces at a discounted member price. For every month that you’re a member, you get a $10 credit that you can use towards the purchase of a piece of jewelry at the special member price.

This is a review of the $69 Black Membership that includes 3 pieces a month.

FYI - COVID-19 Update: Learn about how Switch is committed to the safety of its team, subscribers, and community here.

Starting 7/31/2020, Switch announced all orders will be shipped via FedEx Express 2-Day. All orders will be delivered within 2 business days, guaranteed! Each package comes with a prepaid FedEx return label, so you can leave your return at a FedEx drop box or with a FedEx courier if you’re the nervous type. Shipping is free both ways, and they just ask that you package your items just as they were received to return them. It’s important to save the mailer and packaging for your return.

Switch Subscription Box October 2020 Review

Everything arrived in a super slick and very high-end looking black box. Inside, there were multiple info cards explaining all the deets about this subscription. All of these cards are really informative and helpful in explaining all the facets of this service. They cover care tips, return instructions, and even a guide if you fall head over heels in love with a piece, which... does... happen.

This is the second delivery I have received with the new cloth shipping bag. It arrived with a clear zip-tie to make sure no one tampered with it.

The return kit includes a shipping label, instructions, and another zip-tie to make sure it get back in perfect condition.

Let's see what I picked this month!

Chloe Double Horse Cuff – Retail Value $1,200.00, Member Price $1,000.00

I was and still am a total Horse Girl. Every summer was spent away for a week or two at horse camp and all of my friends had horses growing up that I was always riding around. Though I have never had one of my own (YET!) I really love accessories that reference one of my favorite animals. I had my eye on this cuff for what feels like the entirety of 2019 and it was always already out and borrowed. Well, I finally snagged it! A few things that are important to note here: this cuff is HEAVY. It is also a lot larger than I expected and doesn't have a hinge to put it on. You simply slide it over your hand. I have super big hands but small wrists and this still felt a little big for me. So if you have little dainty hands, this might not be for you. The horse heads are really beautiful and detailed, and though I would absolutely never, ever spend the retail on this cuff, it sure does make me smile when I wear it.

I love this design. It feels like wearing a fine art sculpture.

Fendi F is For Fendi Single Hoop Earring (Pink / Gold) – Retail Value $260.00, Member Price $255.00

This is a single earring, which immediately caught my interest because I am a big fan of layering and mixing and matching my earrings. You can wear this one solo with a stud in the other, or maybe put it in a different piercing further up your lobe. I am someone who generally isn't into obvious logos on my clothing, but something about this earring just made me feel cool. I have very small ears that sit close to my neck so the F is a little less visible than I would assume on someone else.

I loved the pink enamel with the gold metal.

Lizzie Fortunato Moroccan Modern Gold Drop Earrings – Retail Value $286.00, Member Price $230.00

These were probably my favorite item this month. Something about the black onyx with the light blue aquamarine and the twinkle of the pink rhodolite really worked here. I also love anything on a longer chain like this, even if my neck isn't that long. These always have great movement and I think they would somehow work both casually or for a fancier occasion.

The petals reflected so much light!

The Verdict: My Switch pieces are always a lot of fun! They often feel like wearing little art sculptures and the horse cuff and Lizzie Fortunato earrings this month were certainly in that vein. Sure, the FENDI single hoop is a bit trendy for me, but that's what makes the subscription so fun: I can experiment with pieces out of my comfort zone in both styling and price.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Pieces can get snatched up quickly, and the number of pieces they have per style varies. You may or may not see these pieces in their available inventory list – but you might just see something you like even more! This isn’t a “styled” subscription, meaning you can pick exactly what you want from the available list – it’s not selected for you based on an algorithm or your preferences.

ACTIVE DEAL: Save 50% off your first month

Value Breakdown: In this shipment, I tried out $1796.00 of jewelry for $69 – which is less than 4% of their retail value and a great deal if it works for your budget and needs. It’s pricier than Rocksbox (which offers mid-range designer jewelry) but less than Rent the Runway (which offers designer jewelry, accessories, and clothes, too).

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Those Moroccan earrings are gorgeous!!! I wonder how luxe rental companies like this are doing this year without big events or people going into work. 🤔

Those pieces look so nice! I could never get that subscription either bc I can’t afford to keep any of it and I’d want to lol. That horse bracelet does look like a piece of art, and you’re getting me into enamel jewelry! I’ve never liked it before but it always looks so good on you 🙂

Enamel is so much fun! I have my eyes on a few pieces that I can’t quite splurge on just yet, but Christmas is coming! Or so I tell myself, haha!

That horse cuff is GORGEOUS. Alas, I could never subscribe to a jewelry rental box. I would be too broken-hearted when I had to send back pieces I loved!
