Fabletics is a monthly fitness apparel subscription co-founded by Kate Hudson, which includes a plus-size line of their fashionable workout gear! You can shop their line in two different ways—either you can shop through their regular store or sign up as a VIP member. The VIP Membership works like this:

  • Take the Fabletics quiz, which will let the company know your size, style, and fitness needs.
  • Each month, Fabletics will curate looks that match your preferences. According to the website, outfits start at $24.00 for new members. (I’m not sure if “new members” refers to just your first order, though.)
  • Shop those looks at 40-50% off what you’d get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $49.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you’ll also earn points that can be applied to accessories and other cool fitness essentials.

Unlike a lot of other subscription boxes, you are not automatically sent a package each month. You have to go into your account and either decide to add items to your cart or skip it. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, though you do have to call Fabletics customer service to do so.

FYI, COVID-19 Update:

Fabletics Plus Size September 2020 Review

This month's box did not include a paper invoice, but they did include coupons for two services!

The first coupon I received was a $90 gift card from HelloFresh meal kit service! This is a fantastic option to use during quarantine to avoid hitting up the market. Check out our in-depth reviews for HelloFresh here!

Lastly, I received a coupon for 20% off at Function of Beauty. Function of Beauty is a customized hair care service. You can have shampoos, conditioners, and hair masks personalized for your hair type, hair goals, and scent. You even get to name the product for yourself as well! Pretty neat-o!

Harlow Reversible Midi Sports Bra in Safari Crocodile/ Safari (Stunt Outfit Set), Size 3x — Retail Value $59.95, VIP Price $44.95 (VIP Outfit Bundle Rate $109.90, VIP Price $49.95)

This month, I decided to get the midi style sports bra. I love that Fabletics offers the option to switch out bras in outfits for different styles. I prefer the high impact styles best since it gives the best support for me, but don't discount the midi variety! It still provides support and is ultra-comfortable to wear every day outside of the gym too. With quarantining during the pandemic, I wear regular bras less and less and find myself opting for sports bras instead. How did I wear those contraptions for twelve hours a day at my office job?! Wow! Not only is the fit on this bra great, but check this out: it's reversible!

That's right! The flip side is an olive/army green shade called Safari. It is such a rich color that perfectly pairs with the bike shorts in this set.  It is like getting two bras for the cost of one and makes three outfit options. It is a fantastic value, but an even bigger one when you imagine a fourth or fifth workout ensemble if you pair the bra with black leggings or bike shorts too!

High- Waisted Printed PowerHold Short 9" in Safari Crocodile (Stunt Outfit Set), Size 3x — Retail Value $49.95, VIP Price $39.95 (VIP Outfit Bundle Rate $109.90, VIP Price $49.95)

We know I love a good animal print, so I decided to go with crocodile green this month. I typically ignore crocodile prints/faux fabric, it is just so subdued compared to leopard or tiger prints. We know I prefer something bolder and wilder. I do, however, love this print because it is more abstract, especially in this deep olive green shade. The crocodile-inspired pattern is great, but let's talk about the fit! I love a high-waist and PowerHold leggings are always the way to go! These shorts simultaneously provide compression and comfort. The high waist allows me to move without the concern of popping out in the front or back. It is getting colder out my way, but on warmer fall days I like taking a stroll in these with a cropped sweatshirt.

The Solidarity Mask in Black Glam Snake-- Retail Value $7.95

The one style trend I have loved that has come from the pandemic is themed or matching masks for ensembles. Wearing a mask is crucial to protect those around you and yourself, so why not do it in some style?

I selected this mask because I felt it would coordinate with the Stunt set print. I certainly love the aesthetic, but my main concern with masks is that they are safe and work. This mask is made of a less breathable, thicker material. I can't put my fingers on what it is. It isn't spandex or cotton and it definitely beats the candle blowing test – I couldn't blow out the candle for the life of me wearing this mask. My only complaint is it is a bit difficult to breathe in. Granted, I went on an uphill walk and I haven't been as active as I would like to be over the last seven months, but I found myself more out of breath in this one compared to other masks I own. I had to take it off while outside for a moment to get a few breaths in. Until I am able to be more active (my goal is to buy some exercise equipment for my birthday this year since I've been avoiding the gym during the pandemic), I might just wear this one for when I go grocery shopping or on light walks.

Verdict: Fabletics aced it again with this affordable, yet high-quality activewear ensemble! This is an even killer value due to the reversible bra. I love that they are offering masks for folks to wear to the gym and for everyday life too, though I hope they have selections in more breathable fabrics that are also safe. Their pieces are generally incredibly well made, especially at their price points. In addition, Fabletics often holds a variety of sales throughout the year (especially during holidays) and offers promos to their members! I am constantly suggesting them to friends and family asking about workout clothing, too – I just love my Fabletics that much!

I am also glad to see that Fabletics has made a conscious effort to be inclusive in their size range. I have been reviewing them for three years, and the options and size range have immensely increased! They permit you to personalize outfits with the sports bra style of your preference as well as leggings too. I also love that they have expanded their sizes offerings to a 4x! My one grievance is that, while they do offer a larger size range, it's not reflective in all areas of the site. There are still selections that are strictly available in straight sizes. One specific example is the Control outfit set. Sure, they offer it in an XXL, but it's in misses size, which is not the same as a plus 2xl.  This is such a missed opportunity! Fabletics could have offered this in plus and even made the top into a sports bra/crop top hybrid! If us bodacious babes are comfortable to wear a sports bra, why wouldn't we want a crop top in our size as well? As pleased as I am that they expanded their size range, they still have some work to do to make it entirely inclusive. I want to see the full range in plus to normalize bigger bodies. I want inclusivity to not be extraordinary – I want it to be the norm. Also, why stop at a 4x when you could offer pieces in a 5x and 6x like competitors, such as Torrid and Lane Bryant? I want to see all my plus size sisters be able to wear comfortable and well-made lounge and workout gear! Fabletics, you are awesome, but you have the opportunity to be even greater than you already are!

The September set was fantastic, but are you guys as excited as I am to see what I get in October?

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this set is still available, however the mask is available in a glacier blue style only at this time. Sign up here to nab this and other plus-size workout gear from Fabletics.

Value Breakdown: The Stunt Outfit retails for $109.90 with a VIP bundle rate of $49.95.  That means I saved a grand total of $59.95 which is roughly a 55% savings! The Solidarity Mask's retail value was $7.95 without a VIP discount. Still, a fantastic value!

I haven’t found a mask I can breath in and work out. I work out at home though so isn’t a problem.. Still though I don’t drive and ride my bike. When ash was falling from the sky in California from the fires I tried several masks to help but I just couldn’t breath with them bike riding. I literally almost crashed several times and went off the road trying to breath.

I’ve had the best luck with Shokra masks. They are a stiffer, foam like material so it really holds its shape and I don’t end up inhaling them even when wet. The disposal surgical style masks also work pretty well for me. I’ve worn both styles for hour long spin classes.
