Bookroo Board Book October 2020 Review

Bookroo sends the books individually wrapped each month and it makes for such a nice presentation!

Bookroo always includes an insert that gives a brief description of the books you receive with the board book box selections listed on one side and the picture book box selections on the other. They encourage you to share your books on social media and to leave a review of your book.

Who's Hiding with Tiger? by Vincent Mathy - Retail Value $8.99

When I first saw this book, I thought it might be a bit too young for my crew to enjoy (my youngest is 2.5), but it has animals in it, so my animal-loving 4-year-old has already stolen this book. He loves the toucan page! I love that the pages are super thick and chunky and the colors are very bright and appealing. As for the subject matter, it's a cute little book of peek-a-boo with some adorable animals and it would be so fun for any little one!

Colors by Katie Wilson - Retail Value $9.99 (found here for $7.79)

What a gorgeous little book this is! While again, I thought it might be a bit too young for my kids who all already know their colors, I had a really good time reading this one with my 2.5-year-old! He was able to tell me the colors and then I was able to ask him to count the objects on the page and ask him what was going on and he seemed to be really engaged with it. It also has little areas with cutouts that have different textures inside which is perfect for little fingers to explore!

Little Bitty Friends by Elizabeth McPike - Retail Value $6.99

This last book is one of those super cute books that I always loved reading with my babies. This book has beautiful illustrations as they talk about all of the little bitty things with rhyming text. It's simple and it's cute, plus it is full of diverse characters and some adorable critters like that little turtle on the front!

Verdict: I thought this was a great month of Bookroo selections for the 0-2 age range. There were bright colors, textures, and a lot of sweetness. Some of the illustrations were really beautiful, too, which I appreciate as an adult. I really enjoyed reading these with my kiddos. The total retail value of the books comes to $25.97, which is just over the cost of this box at $24.94 ($19.95 a month + $4.99 shipping). Board books are not always the best value in a subscription since they retail for less than picture books, but I think with a longer subscription, it could definitely make it worth it!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

It was fun! I think this is our third Bookroo box, and it’s the first time they wanted to tear the paper themselves. Then, one said, “Look at all the leaves!!!” We all played together in the “leaves” for quite some time this morning.

I have 2.5 year old twins, and they loved opening the wrapping paper on this month’s shipment. They tore up the paper and played in the “leaves”. They always love the Bookroo books more than others we get.

Do you get the 0-3 board books or the 2-6 hardcover? Thinking of getting for my 2 year old twins.

We get the 0-3 board books. Like Brandi said, the content of some books seem young for them because they know things like colors, but we just read the “Colors” book many, many times in a row. They loved the textures and kissing all the animals in the book. The Bookroo folks must know their stuff because these are the books they reach for consistently. I think whichever format you choose, the books will be great. I find the larger hardcover kids books to be cumbersome to hold and prefer the board book size for now.
