Basic Man October 2020 Review

Black Tee, Size M - Listed Value $16.00 (Similar style in Grey)

Remember last month when I said I don't usually wear white because I get it dirty right away? Well, I did. So thank goodness this month is a black shirt. It actually arrived right after I got my white Basic Man shirt dirty. So I switched them out immediately. With cooler weather arriving, I can tell you these shirts make a perfect undershirt. Even if you have to de-layer once you warm up, you'll look great. In my opinion, the shirts are the star of this subscription. They fit perfectly and, like I mentioned before, I love, love, love that they don't put their logo all over their clothes. It's usually just a small tag.

Black Socks - Retail Value $12.00

Black socks to go with the black shirt. These mature socks are all black except a diamond pattern around the arch area and a two-tone ring around the toes. Like the last few months, they are a formal fit. They are made from a blend of 80% combed cotton, 17% polyester, and 3% elastic. They come up about 3/4th the way to my knee. I'm 5'9". I like that they are simple and, well, basic. I can wear them with almost any outfit.

Olive Green Boxer Briefs - Listed Value $15.00 (Similar pair in Aqua)

I don't know why they wouldn't just stay with the black theme, but I'm not complaining. These olive green briefs are light and smooth. The top band features the same two-tone ring as the socks. I really enjoyed the last pair and these are exactly the same. I like the mesh, which helps a little with ventilation. They are made from 95% bamboo viscose and 5% elastane. I will say, after wearing Basic Man boxers a couple of times now, they ride up in the back a little. I'm used to a very tight fitting boxer and these are a little loose. Not terrible, just something I noticed.

Verdict: Basic Man lives up to its name once again. Each item is right in my wheelhouse. I'm wearing the shirt and socks as I type and they feel great. I get tired of being an advertisement for clothing companies. You buy their clothes and it has their name or logo all over it. So I appreciate the simple attire. The total value of the items is – and I suspect always will be – $43. That's a great value for a relatively cheap subscription. Buying items like this at a retail store would easily cost you more than $20. Sometimes I wonder how I will be able to keep writing about Basic Man since they keep it so simple, but it is exactly what a Basic Man like me wants.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? The monthly shipments won't always be the same items as mine - so you can order anytime.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $19.99 with a retail value of $43. The average cost of each of the 3 items is $6.66. The average value per item is $14.33. I saw on the Basic Man website that they'll give you a $9 discount if you buy one of each item together, but even with the discount it is not less than the $20 for the subscription. Not to mention you have to pay for shipping via the website. So subscribers are getting a good value with this one.

I should get this for my BF! So much easier than dragging him through a store and having to pick out stuff that neither of us wants to shop for!

I’m a big fan of the shirts. Boxers are pretty good. Socks are more of a style thing. Overall, a great sub. After a couple months, I think I’ll be wearing the shirts every day of the week.
