Sephora Favorites: Give Me More Lip

NARS Lipstick in Tolede, 0.05 oz/ 1.6 g - Estimated value $10.83 (Buy a .12 oz full size for $26)

This first lipstick is from NARS in the shade Tolede which is a pink rose color with a satin finish. I haven't played with NARS lipsticks much but I know a lot of people I follow love them, and now I do, too! The formula has a lot of pigmentation and a light hand goes a long way. The finish looks pretty natural and it is very comfortable to wear. It's made with passion fruit seed oil and moringa oil so it felt hydrating!

PATRICK TA Silky Lip Crème in She‘s Independent, 0.23 oz/ 7 mL (Full size) - Retail value $24

This brand is new to me! This is a really nice cool-toned nude, described as a pink beige. It feels understated and easy to wear but still flattering and the beige tint makes it on trend, as well. It has a matte finish, but this formula isn't a liquid lipstick that dries down matte - it's more just a soft, lipstick cream. This also has a really yummy smell, kind of like marshmallowy!

Too Faced Melted Matte in Sell Out, 0.1 oz/ 3 mL - Estimated value $5.50 (Buy a .4 oz/11.8 mL full size for $22)

"Pinky brown" shades will always have a special place in my heart. I LOVE this color. I think it's gorgeous and flattering. The formula is made with avocado oil, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E so it's created to be very hydrating, smoothing, and comfortable. One thing I have to clarify, though, is that even though this is a matte liquid lipstick, it doesn't actually completely dry and become smudge-proof. Because of this, Too Faced's liquid lipsticks have historically not been my favorite option for a liquid lip, but I don't mind this as much these days now that I work from home.

FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Unbutton, 0.13 oz/ 4 mL (Full size) - Retail value $25

Fenty's Lip Paints are also new to me! I definitely thought this bottle was nail polish at first! But once I tried it, I actually loved the long handle that gave me lots of control. The applicator is very unique, too. It has a sort of flat cushiony part at the tip to apply the lipstick with. I liked it, but it made it easy to get too much product. (Note to self, swipe off the extra before applying to lips - you can always add more if you need it.) This peachy nude shade is definitely out of my comfort zone because of how pale it is. The more I look at it, the more it grows on me, though. When I first applied it, I felt like I looked washed out but it seemed to darken a bit as it dried. This formula had a solidly long wear time and actually stayed while I ate and drank for several hours throughout the day. I'm interested in trying this lipstick in a shade I more typically reach for, but I also think it's good for me to try this and get out of my color range comfort zone, too!

Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip 2020 - Nude swatches

Here are swatches of all the nudes, in the same order in which they're reviewed here. From top to bottom: Nars, Patrick Ta, Too Faced, and Fenty Beauty.

ILIA Tinted Lip in Arabian Knights, 0.14 oz/ 4 g (Full size) - Retail value $28

I was hoping this kit would include a berry shade! When you open this, it looks like it will be a bold red color, but this is a sheer lip conditioner, so it's actually a very versatile and light color. You can build it with layers, but you won't get to a solid opaque color. It's made with sesame seed oil, vitamin E, and cocoa butter and feels like a hydrating, nourishing, cozy lip blanket. And, it's full size!

KVD Vegan Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lip in Outlaw, 0.1 oz/ 3 mL - Estimated value $9.54 (Buy a .22 oz/6.6 mL full size for $21)

Yes! My holy grail liquid lipstick! I'm so glad it's in this kit because I want this to be shared with the world. Kat Von D's whole cosmetic line is formulated to be super opaque, dries matte, and does not budge! I got into these when I worked at Sephora and now I have my own collection of them. This brick red matte shade is a rich, blue-based red (so it will make your teeth look whiter) and is an all-around excellent power lip.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in RED 01, 0.03 oz/ 1.2 g - Estimated value $8.77 (Buy a .13 oz/3.8g full size for $38)

Oh my, this lipstick feels like buddah. The formula feels so smooth and lightweight but still packs a punch of blood-red color. I can't tell I have anything more than a good lip balm on. The wear time is really long, too. Even after the moisture wears away, the pigment stays almost like a stain. I'm happy to be impressed with this lipstick because it's the most expensive to purchase full-sized in this box.

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist in 402, 0.05 oz/ 1.4 g - Estimated value $10.18 (Buy a .113 oz/3.2 g full size for $23)

The Make Up For Ever brand is another one that is known for intense pigmentation and long wear (I was told by my Sephora trainer that they used to do the makeup for Cirque Du Soleil shows). This formula lives up to that with an intense, opaque pay off of bright red color, and has a comfortable but long wearing satin finish. The cream formula is also designed to smooth the appearance of lips and blur lines, too.

Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip 2020 - Red swatches

Here are swatches of all the reds in the same order in which they were reviewed. From top to bottom: ILIA, KVD, Yves Saint Laurent, Make Up Forever.

The Verdict: It's probably no mystery at this point, but I really enjoyed this Sephora Favorites: Give Me More Lip Kit! I honestly found all the lipsticks to be high quality, and they offered a range of formulas. I thought that between the 4 nudes and the 4 reds, there was the most variation between the nude shades. I think everyone should have a red lipstick they love to wear that empowers them, but I think you should buy this kit mainly if you know you will get use out of having more than one red lipstick. Or, if you have yet to find THE red for you. I know sometimes it takes trying a lot of red lipsticks to find the right red for your complexion, so ultimately I see that even the subtle differences in the formulas and undertones of these reds can make a big difference in how well they work on different complexions. It's great that three out of the eight lippies are full size! It costs $45 and my calculations put the value at $121.82, which is right about at the $124 in value that Sephora promises. I think it's a good deal!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you order today? Yes, this kit is still available for purchase. Buy it here.

Haley, you did a great job with your review! Thank you for wearing the lip product, providing swatches, and explaining each product. That’s exactly what a thorough review needs, imo, and you nailed it! : )

This kit is a really great deal! I’ve wanted to try the Fenty liquid lipstick for a long time.

As an aside, Kat Von D was actually bought out of KVD Vegan awhile ago – the KVD now stands for Kindness, Vegan Beauty + Discovery (and Doing good).

That is excellent information – Thank you, Jackie!

I was on the fence about getting this set. I have went to the web page a dozen times to order it but the KVD item was what stopped me. I won’t support any of her business. I had heard she sold the business but was still involved so I ended up not ordering the set. If she really truly is hands off I may have to reconsider. I love the colors and styles of nearly every lip item here except for making the most brown out of the nudes. They all look fantastic overall.

Great review! I am really interested in trying some of these brands, but I know most of the nudes wouldn’t work for me. Those reds though!!

This is such a great review! I’ve been waffling on this set, but looking at the swatches, I don’t think it’s for me – not a red lipstick person, and only two of the four nudes would work for me (I’m SUPER pale). Bummer, because if the Fenty were a more wearable (for me) color, I’d probably snap this kit up. Lots of formulas here I’ve been wanting to try.

I appreciate the note about the “soft setting” liquid mattes – that is actually my preferred style of liquid lipstick. For some reason I thought Too Face’s Melted lipsticks dried down, which is why I’ve never tried that formula. I will have to give them a whirl sometime! The shade in this set is absolutely gorgeous, exactly what I look for in a nude. The formula for the Patrick Ta sounds really nice, too.

I bought this. Haley is lovely and can wear anything.

I, on the other hand, have a raging case of corn-teeth (they’re yellow). Those tan-nudes (too faced, patrick ta and fenty) made my teeth look like butterscotch candies. Brutal.
