Norlii is a bi-monthly home subscription box filled with Scandinavian home decor and accessories. I always marvel at the great curation of the best from minimal brands like Normann Copenhagen and others. There's always a great balance of form and function in this $69.95 (+ shipping) subscription.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Norlii Scandinavian Home & Lifestyle Box October 2020 Review

This month's Norlii is WFH themed, though these items would be cute and functional anywhere.

KBHaven Family Calendar- Retail Value $65.00

My first item this month arrived in a black tube. I opened it to find a very chic and modern calendar! Though this design looks simple, the materials are top-notch. The frame is made of Danish-grown oak and leather, and it is reusable. If I wanted to buy a 2022 calendar I would only need to purchase the papers. I can also use it to frame my own art in a beautifully modern way. The pages are printed in Denmark and everything about this calendar is over-the-top thoughtful – they even included a brass nail for hanging. This calendar is designed to fit the activities of a much larger family than mine, but it might actually be perfect for plotting out my subscription deliveries!

Normann Copenhagen Little Bird in Oak - Retail Value $25.00

Ok, I know this might be weird, but this was my most favorite item to arrive in this delivery. I cannot deal with how cute this bird sculpture is! I really love modern and quirky art pieces and this minimalist bird piece is just adorable. Standing about four inches tall and made of beautiful oak, this little one is the perfect addition to my office. Every time I look at him, I smile. This company also makes birds in different sizes and colors, and I am severely tempted to add to my collection.

Here he is hanging out in my studio/office protecting my watercolor pads and looking real cuuuute.

Normann Copenhagen Gold Scissors - Retail Value $50.00

I almost spit out my tea when I saw the retail value of these gold scissors. Who's a fancy lady now?! In all seriousness, I would never buy $50 scissors. These belong on the desk of someone who signs off on big business deals and uses a dry cleaner! But secretly, I love how these look on my desk. They are functional in the way that scissors are and apparently they won a Wallpaper Design Award in 2017. Now if I can just keep Will from stealing them...

Sej Designs Rubber tray - Retail Value $18.00

I am at the point in my life where I feel like half of my day is spent preventing my pens from rolling off my desk. This issue is exacerbated by the fact that my house is over 100 years old and terribly crooked. For someone who spends a lot of time around paintbrushes and lip liners, this little rubber tray has some major attraction. Sure, it's very minimal and super simple. But its also made out of rubber, meaning its washable and stays where I put it. It is ideal for paint-covered brushes since I can just wash out any mess I make. It arrived with a little white pencil.

Verdict:  Norlii may not be for everyone, but two boxes in and I think it is definitely for me. How else would I justify $50 scissors? In all seriousness, I know not everyone would be enthralled with a wooden bird. But if you love Scandinavian and minimal design, this is an easy box to love, even at the $76.95 price point. It feels like going into a boutique and buying the most unique things!  I am obsessed with my bird and my fancy lady scissors, and the calendar and tray are very useful to me in my office. The total retail value of this box lands at $158 which is pretty good for a $76.95 box, though, again, probably for the right person.

Value Breakdown: At $76.95 for this box, each of the four items inside has an average cost of $19.24.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Yeah, I love this box so much! When I found out that was a little bird sculpture I almost signed up the the box right then. Lol. I’m getting ready to move though and really need to be more mindful of my spending. But I want it!!! 😂

I always love this box, but I don’t think it’s a good fit for me price wise so sadly I never do splurge on it! Love the reviews though and that birdie is charming!

I thought he was a wireless speaker at first lmao

Bird + speaker would be the most perfect combo ever!

1. I too love the bird.
2. I feel that the bird needs a name.

I’ve just been calling him Burp but Rockwell or Norman are both much better lol

I feel like it would be wildly uncreative but appropriate to name him Norman

Joy-Not the Other One

YES!!!!!! Anything else would be silly. Please name him Norman. Doreen you are a genius. I LOVE IT! 🙂

Please do not stop reviewing this box. I am so in love with it. I’m pretty sure this is the curation that is going to send me over the edge to subscribing. I love everything in here and especially the fancy lady scissors. I already have a weird scissor thing going on where I feel the need to purchase them whenever I see a pair on sale and I always ask for them for Christmas. I feel like these were basically made for me. 🙂

I feel like with everything that is going on right now, if you have the extra money and something like gold scissors and a wooden bird can bring you joy then GO FOR IT!

How about Rockwell, after the painter Norman Rockwell?
