Gentleman's Box September 2020 “Shark" Review

Our box included this little card describing how we can use Alexa for our unboxing experience along with a $50 gift card to Lawrence Hunt, a men's clothing company. There is no minimum to use the $50, but it acts more like a coupon code since you can't use other promo codes in conjunction with it.

This is our issue of the Gentleman's Post which is basically a booklet that describes the theme for the month and highlights the items included in our box. This month our honoree is their favorite shark, Mark Cuban.

Windsor Tie Co. Tie - Listed Value $30.00

My husband says he doesn't have a lot of light-colored ties so he was happy to have this one for his collection. The pinstripe fabric has a bit of a sheen to it and it definitely has the feel of a quality tie.

Here it is on. It's really a nice-looking tie!

Lockstep Apparel Socks - Listed Value $15.00

I thought these socks were nice-looking and while my husband says that they are comfortable, he isn't too crazy about the design. I think the colors are subtle enough, so I'm sure he will still get some use out of them.

These socks are a blend of 75% cotton, 23% nylon, and 2% spandex.

WCFC Tie Clip - Listed Value $15.00

This shark tie clip is definitely a fun accent and it looks great against the blue of the tie. My husband liked this a lot and thought it was nice to have something a little whimsical for his tie clip collection. This is actually made from 100% copper.

WCFC Pocket Square - Listed Value $20.00

This pocket square has a bit of shine to it and the blue comes off a bit bright next to the deeper red color. While it's a nice pocket square, my husband wasn't a huge fan of it, mostly because he doesn't wear a lot of red.

AusCufflinks - Listed Value $25.00

These cufflinks came packaged up nicely, although my husband says he already has a similar pair. He is also not really one to wear cufflinks, so this item felt like a bit of a miss to him. Since they were packaged so nicely, I think they will make a nice gift for someone else!

Armani Code by Giorgio Armani, sample - Buy a 1 oz bottle for $50.00

Lastly, we received this sample of Armani Code along with a 15% off coupon for a full-size purchase.

Verdict: This month's Gentleman’s Box had just a few items that my husband really liked. The tie is very nice and he liked it a lot, and we both thought the shark clip was fun and a nice touch. The cufflinks, pocket square, and socks weren't really his style, but that's definitely just a personal preference! The total listed value of these items comes to $105.00 which is pretty good for a $29.00 + free shipping box!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your first box will be the October box.

All orders placed on the last day of the month by 11:59 PM Pacific Time will start you with the current month’s box.

ACTIVE DEAL: Use code Pocket75 to get pocket squares 75% Off

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29 + free shipping, which means that each of the 5 items (not including the cologne sample) in the box has an average cost of about $5.80.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Oh wow, I need that tie clip to gift to someone. It’s perfect!

Good review. I’m with Joy,I don’t understand why a man has to review the box. Brandi’s husband told her what he thought and she told us. Even modeled for us. The cufflinks, pocket square and socks weren’t his style, does that mean your man won’t like it? i have noticed that a lot of the woman reviewers clothing choices in subs are not at all my taste but they can still describe quality etc. enough for me to make an informed decision. This review is everything I need to decide if it’s something my man will like.

Yes but a woman is giving her opinion not a man. If her husband doesn’t want to write the review let someone else, a male, review. No offense to Brandi. Loved Carlos take and comments on Basic Man.

Thanks for the box review Brandi. I am on the hunt for a box for my husband. I love this box! BUT… it is certainly for an office working man. Covid reduced my tie wearing man to a zoom call in shorts at the house. Oh well! My hunt continues. As for Victorias comment on wanting a man to review this box? We left that thinking in the 60’s. If a man can own the largest cosmetic subscription box company then surly you can review a man’s subscription box! You go girl!

Try this as a thought experiment: replace “husband” with “wife,” “he” with “she,”, etc. and then read through the review. If the roles were reversed we’d be less than pleased, to put it mildly. Imagine a beauty box review written by a man about his wife,
Lol. The idea that women shop for their husbands is very much a 1960s thing. Men today are capable of thinking, shopping and (gasp!) even writing for themselves.

Is the quarterly box reviewed? My husband has received 2 of them and really likes them.

Is that tie clip a bottle opener, too‽‽ the end of the tail certainly looks like it.

This would be a great box for Carlos to review (or even your husband himself). I just don’t understand why a woman is reviewing the Gentleman’s Box if she isn’t the one wearing the ties, socks, etc. It doesn’t feel authentic to me. I mean no offense to Brandi or any other female that has written reviews on boxes for men in the past, but this would be so much better if it was reviewed by a man (or a woman that’s actually using the products). I noticed Carlos is now reviewing the Basic Man subscription, I think he would be great reviewing this, too. Just my two cents.
