Bath Bevy TUBLESS “AUTUMN VIBES ” September 2020 Review

This box included an info sheet with details on the products, plus exclusive coupons to the included brands!

SET OF 2 SHOWER STEAMERS in "Let's Do It" Lemongrass by Bath Bevy, 3.5 oz (2x) - Retail Value $10.00

I have been wanting to try a shower steamer ever since I discovered they were a thing. Every subscription box that came I'd be like, "I hope there is a shower steamer in here!" Every time, my hopes were dashed. Until... I discover Bath Bevy launched a new TUBLESS subscription option! I was so excited when this box came. I've never been into baths, but as an avid shower-taker, I was always jealous of the luxurious bath accessories available to tub soakers. I could smell these "Let's Do It" Lemongrass Shower Steamers through their packaging and the second I took them out, I got a burst of a fresh, calming citrus scent. When I placed the steamer on the bottom of my shower, a delicious, calming cloud of lemongrass-scented steam arose to envelop me in an aromatherapy experience. It was an absolute treat and an elevation to my shower. I've been in the process of moving, which has been stressful and taxing, and after a long day of lifting boxes and assembling furniture, this steamer was just the little bit of self-care I needed for myself.

SILKY BIRCH WHIPPED SOAP SCRUB by Bath Bevy, 8 oz - Retail Value $12.00

This Silky Birch Whipped Soap Scrub has a beautiful light lavender color that is incredibly enticing with an airy whipped texture and it smells absolutely incredible. It's a delightful mix of sweet from the sugar and a refined musk from the birch. This scrub has the perfect level of grit for exfoliating and sloughing off dead skin, revealing luminous and healthy skin beneath. This product left my skin feeling soft and moisturized but not greasy or sticky. The moisturizing properties absorbed into my skin so I didn't feel like there was a layer of residue on my body after using. To be honest, I'm almost completely through the jar after just three showers. I may be a little obsessed! I hope scrubs like this are a staple in the new Bath Bevy Tubless subscription.

PUMPKIN APPLE STREUSEL BODY LOTION by Bath Bevy, 3.25 oz - Retail Value $12.00

Okay. Bath Bevy is KILLING IT with their products' scents. This Pumpkin Apple Streusel Body Lotion has the wondrous scent of a warm homemade strudel at your grandmother's during the holidays. Another huge win is that fragrance is listed as one of the last ingredients, so Bath Bevy is creating these amazing scents without filling their products with irritating chemical scents. Besides the delicious fragrance, this product absorbed quickly into my skin, so I didn't feel like I was leaving oily residue on everything I touched. My skin felt smooth and soft after applying. The lotion's texture is creamy but not too thick and heavy. I'm definitely leaving this product out on my sink in the bathroom so guests can come and use it and compliment me on my brilliant taste in delicious smelling body moisturizers.

PUMPKIN SOOTHING MASK by Primal Elements, 1.18 fl oz - Retail Value $10.00

This Pumpkin Soothing Mask by Primal Elements may not be a Bath Bevy original but it smells just as delicious. This face mask literally smells like Aunt Deborah Brown's homemade pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. Formulated with a unique mixture of ingredients like natural kaolin clay, Vitamins A and C, zinc, copper, and pumpkin enzymes, of course, this soothing mask works to heal, moisturize, and improve the texture of skin. This mask felt great on my face and left my skin feeling fresh, clean, and cool. The product may look small, but a little goes a long way. I can definitely get at least four uses from this little pouch.

COZY SWEATER TWIST TIN CANDLE W/ MATCHES by Valley Candles, 3 oz - Retail Value $8.00

You always picture a beautiful woman in a large sud-filled tub with her slender leg up on the side, holding a glass of wine, surrounded by soothing candles. Did no one ever think that a woman who showers would also enjoy a calming candle?! Bath Bevy did. I love having a candle in the bathroom while I shower. Honestly, I never would have thought of it before, but it's the little things that add to your quality of life and self-care. This Cozy Sweater Twist Tin Candle has a wonderful soothing scent with notes of orange peel, cinnamon, lemon, apple cider, red currant, cranberry, wood, and red wine that truly create a cozy aroma. This candle was small-batch handmade with 100% soy wax and all-natural scents from essential oils with a cotton wick by Valley Candles, exclusively for Bath Bevy.

Bath Bevy thought of absolutely everything. They even sent this adorable matchbox that says, "Hello Fall," with sleek, white-tipped matches.

The Verdict: I absolutely loved this box! After being envious of bath-takers' subscription boxes, it was nice to be recognized as a tubless girl who wants to feel fancy. My favorite product had to be the Silky Birch Whipped Soap Scrub. I loved everything about it; from the beautiful color to the wonderful scent to the exfoliating and hydrating benefits it gave my skin. I also really enjoyed the Shower Steamers in "Let's Do It" Lemongrass. It's nice to have a bath bomb like option for the shower. I honestly underestimated how much I would enjoy showering enveloped in the fresh aroma of lemongrass. The Pumpkin Apple Streusel Body Lotion was another wonderfully scented, hydrating product that I really enjoyed. A little bit of luxury after getting out of the shower. Primal Elements Pumpkin Soothing Mask was amazingly scented and created with all-natural ingredients that definitely soothed my skin while giving me a nice deep cleanse to remove sweat and grime from my pores. The Cozy Sweater Twist Tin Candle made me feel like a fancy lady, thoroughly luxuriating in some "me time," even though I was just taking a quick shower before bed. The total retail value of the Bath Bevy TUBLESS Box was $52. At a purchasing price of $42.95 + shipping, you do get your money's worth but not much more. I typically like to see a higher retail value with a subscription box, but even though you only get exactly what was paid for, this was one of my favorite boxes thus far. If you're planning to subscribe, understand that you would simply be getting exactly what you paid for. If you are someone who doesn't have a tub, isn't a fan of baths, or simply doesn't have the time to prepare and take a bath but are looking for ways to enhance the shower experience, this is definitely a box you may want to try and I would highly recommend.

Fortune Cookie Soap Box is $16.95 per month (plus free shipping) with the same amount of products. Granted, they may be a little smaller in size, but everything is made right in-house in Oklahoma. There is no way this box should be over $50 per month with shipping. Just my opinion. Way overpriced.

Catherine

It is a $43 box with a value of $52 in product. Plus you have to pay for shipping. Highway robbery.

I like the idea of this box. If it were $40 with free shipping, I’d be in. It’s just a little high for where I’m at thought.

Naomi Pandolfi

Hey Brandi, it does seemed pricey right? It is the first box so hopefully retail value goes up as it grows!

Yes, exactly what you said.

These prices are typical for handmade bath and body items. The people who make them have to be paid for their time too, and the appeal is getting something *handmade* and not mass-manufactured. I see so many comments complaining when something in a subscription box is made in China, but then people complain when a handmade, made in USA product is expensive.

I understand not being able to afford this over boxes with factory-produced items. I can’t afford it either. But these products aren’t overpriced, nor are they only “worth $20.”

Thanks for the info Steph! Handmade and small batch always have a better quality in my experience.

So true. I guess my personal opinion, though, is that if a subscription box isn’t going to offer me significant savings, I would rather just purchase the exact items that I want. That way I’m still supporting the company, but I know I’ll use everything I purchased and my money won’t go to waste. In fact, I often use the information on this site in exactly that way, discovering a new-to-me company and then buying the specific products that interest me.

Reeb

If I’m paying close to retail I’d rather be able to choose the products and scents I get. I’ll settle for what they send if the savings is significant enough.

Tiffany

Same! I now have the entire Earth Harbor line. 🤣

Are you sure those Bath Bevy branded products are handmade by Americans? It doesn’t actually say so on the bottles or website. Also, these may be handmade but they aren’t natural. How many people have DMDM hydantoin or Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate in their homes? Some of those ingredients are banned at Whole Foods. Do you still feel like paying a premium price for them? The only wording I found on the website is that they are tested by the founder first, nothing says they are handmade or country of origin.

Thank you for speaking up. I agree…

Kathy

If you read Jessica’s reviews, much of which are on small batch, handmade bath/body subs, you’d also see that retail value of those boxes is about equal to sub price. I definitely agree this is priced right, even if it’s a little expensive.
I think of it like meat: when I was in university just a year ago, I took a nutrition class that had local farmers come in and talk every week. One of the weeks was on meat, and one of the farmers said that the cost of their local, sustainable, and small-scale meat productions is the actual price of meat, not what they sell at a regular grocery store (which is government subsidized and animals are fed poorly & treated inhumanely while alive). And yeah, their meat cost more than grocery store stuff, but you know where it’s coming from directly and you’re supporting small businesses

Exactly why I spot and stalk hunt (very different to truck-hunting).

Tiffany

Exactly why we buy from crowd cow!

So true! And we should be happy to support our fellow US workers right now

Great job on this review! I really like your style 😊
Also, this box sounds fantastic. If I hadn’t just moved as well, I’d sign up. But moving is expensive 😭

This might be my favorite review ever! Not only do I relate as shower person, but this was so hilariously and well written. I am also so curious about shower steamers!

Thanks Alli! So glad you enjoyed it…shout out to all the shower people out there!!!

ITA with everyone who says this is way over priced $20 worth of shower products for $50 are you kidden me.?

Vi

Wow this box sounds like it smells amazing. I would use all of these products. I do think it is a bit pricey for a monthly subscription though. I’ll stick to my Margo Elena for great scents for now. For those of you who do buy it enjoy it!

Kristin

Great review Naomi! This is tempting but does seem expensive for the little number of uses per product. But then again it is monthly.

Sandra

Really lovely but much too expensive.
