Gwynnie Bee allows you to select items you like and they are put in a virtual closet. The chosen items are sent to you are at random, but you can select priority pieces to be sent to you first. Since I started using the service, I can say I always have a lot of fun with this box!

Gwynnie Bee July 2020 Review

This review is for each of the three-at-a-time items I received July 1st & 17th of 2020:

Mixed Stripe Jersey Faux-Wrap Dress by Donna Morgan, Size 20W — Retail Value $33.50, Purchased for $16.50 during Gwynnie Bee 60% Off at Home Items Sale + $5 Points Coupon

Finally! I closeted this dress months ago, even put it in my priorities, and it is finally here! Better late than never, right? I am rather familiar with the Donna Morgan brand; I have reviewed various pieces by them like this amazing maxi dress from the January and April Gwynnie Bee reviews I wrote (the latter I purchased for a steal at $14.50!). This brand is becoming a favorite of mine due to the fit and beautiful prints and styles. I have a few Donna Morgan faux-wrap dresses, but they all are so distinct due to the variety of prints. Of course, I had to give this beautiful number a forever home. I absolutely adore the fuchsia, pink, and orange against the navy and black stripes: absolutely stunning! This piece makes me think of summer days blasting the Beach Boys and hanging with friends-- it is sunshine in dress form! I opted to style my new dream dress with orange sandals from my latest ShoeDazzle review as well as my favorite flower power acrylic earrings from the Miss1960's Etsy shop. I am looking forward to next summer and hoping it is safe enough to make my annual jaunt to California again in this vibrant number!

Stripe Detail Sweater Dress by ModCloth, Size 2x — Retail Value $23.50

It may seem nutty for me to receive a sweater dress to review, but honestly, fall is so close I can feel it already. Do feel the ebb of summer on July 4th, too? As soon as Independence Day comes, the summer seems to go at warp speed! That being said, I did grunt a bit seeing this piece because I am dreading the onslaught of cold weather. Regardless of my reluctance to relinquish the summer, I love this sweater dress. It has loads of stretch, hits at an ideal length, and isn't too thick or bulky. You can easily wear this bare-legged like I did in September and October, but once it gets colder, layer it with tights, ankle booties, a faux leather jacket, and your favorite beret. I decided to try a sporty look by pairing the dress with white sneakers and my favorite yellow sunglasses as well.

Surplice Striped Stretch Jumpsuit by DEMOCRACY, Size 2x — Retail Value $5.50

Another $5.50 item-- whoa! This is the third consecutive month I have received a deep discount item-- no complaints, right? Positives regarding this piece: I love the V-like lines, the formation of the V, and the tie across the back-- it is so adorable! Fit wise: I have a few gripes. This jumpsuit hits me in a weird spot on my long torso. I personally think it would look better and be more defining if it hit at my waist instead of nearly at my hips. Even though the fabric has loads of stretch, the placement on my hips makes it feel a bit tight and slightly uncomfortable. I wonder if the 3x would have been a better choice? I also think a larger size would have been a better option for layering purposes. This would look so phenomenal at the office and during cooler months with a T-shirt or bodysuit layered underneath the jumpsuit. Imagine it with a white T-shirt or even a printed vintage novelty or band shirt underneath-- wow! I jazzed up this ensemble with studded, white pointy flat mules, earrings from Rashida Gurl, and my favorite two-tone sunglasses from Wherelight.com!

Black and White Side Knot Sheath Dress by Tiana B, Size 20W — Retail Value $6.40, Purchased for $4.00 during Gwynnie Bee 60% Off at Home Items Sale

In my second box I got this month, I managed to score another discounted dress. I know in the past I have turned down the $5.50 dresses, but how could I turn down this cutie at $4?! It was a must! I am a sucker for black-and-white striped dresses and I especially loved the vertical stripes as well as the slanted ones on the asymmetrical front. The side knot also gives it this like sun ray kind of design, are you seeing it too? I love the stretch of this piece-- it makes it ultra-comfortable and easy to wear. I opted to pair the dress with white sneakers as well as my black and white sunglasses I wore with the jumpsuit prior. This piece would also look fantastic with a pop of color-- instead of white sneakers, why not style with red ankle booties or heels? The options in different colors are endless really making this dress an immense value due to its versatility!

Aqua Textured Jacquard Fit-And-Flare Dress by Gabby Skye, Size 20W — Retail Value $38

Last, but not least, is this lovely textured jacquard dress. Isn't that fabric design neat? With the turquoise color, it reminds me of how the light reflects pool water. I like the dress length because it is ideal for a business casual setting, but if I were to wear this to go out I would want it a little above the knee. The fabric has loads of stretch and the dress itself is rather roomy! I love styling this dress with white accessories like my earrings and booties, but I think silver accents would look amazing with this piece as well. Imagine this paired with silver open-toed wedge heels, silver hoops, and a silver handbag-- cute right?

Verdict: Gwynnie Bee, my very first subscription box to review and still one of my favorites. What makes them stand apart: you select the pieces to closet and can rent items. It is like having a girlfriend with a huge revolving closet. Coolest thing though is their perks and rewards program. I still cannot believe I managed to buy two dresses from them for less than $21 due to their At Home Items Sale and my rewards points I accrued!

I constantly suggest Gwynnie Bee for folks in between sizes or looking for business casual attire. Right now, I know a lot of us are working from our homes, myself included (thank goodness!). My area has been in the green for over a month now, but I am in absolutely no rush to go to the malls! My purchases have all been online or via delivery services, so Gwynnie Bee is ideal for me! I get a slice of my life as I knew it each time the box is dropped off at my doorstep. I can try on pieces and twirl around and forget about what's going on in the world for a few minutes at least-- which I greatly appreciate. I can't wait to be able to wear the items I bought from them from this July box when it is safe to hang with my friends again! I don't know about you guys, but I am eager to see my August selections!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent or purchase.

Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got five items this month. The three items total up to $87.50, which is $7.50 less than my monthly subscription fee! However, take into account that three of the dresses were extremely discounted and I would not have access to such a deal if I wasn't subscribed to Gwynnie Bee. Due to my membership, I got two dresses I adore for $20.50! Not too shabby!

Nicole,
Eloquii has a new clothing rental subscription. You should ask about reviewing it. I’m really interested in seeing how it works since I loved their pieces when I had Gwynnie Bee. It’s called Eloquii Unlimited, it’s $79 a month with 4 items out at a time. It’s sizes sizes 14 to 28.

Anna, YES! i am definitely interested in it myself. I love the Eloquii brand. I own quite a few pieces from them that I love. I am also wondering if they will offer an option like Gwynnie Bee where you can purchase rented pieces. I am eager to check it out tbh.

Joy-Not the Other One

I have been reading all of your reviews for a really long time. When I saw that first dress my first thought was, “if Nicole were a dress she would be that one!” I know I don’t know you IRL but through reading all of your extremely thorough and excellent reviews I feel like you are a fashion friend. That dress literally seems like your ideal piece from all of your reviews. Bright, bold, happy pattern & colors with a vintage retro vibe just like your personality! Love it.
