Fortune Cookie Soap “Pack Your Bags!” July 2020 Review

Everything this month came in this clear travel pouch, and all of these products are TSA-friendly, which is great if I was flying anytime soon.

Here is the info sheet for this month’s box.

Beach House Lava Exfoliating Body Wash, no size listed - Buy the full-size version for $14.99

This body wash was great. Beach House has scent notes of coconut, passionfruit, guava, pineapple, banana, melon, and berries. I agree with the description- it does smell like summer in a bottle, and it does have some exfoliating power thanks to the "lava powder." The grit was gentle, and this body wash is a much better travel soap option than what is provided in hotels (remember hotels? I miss them).

Desert Oasis Deodorant, no size listed - Buy the 2.7 oz version for $12.99

I'm not one for natural deodorants as it is, but something about this scent reminded me of bathroom cleaning supplies and I found it off-putting. The scent is described as having notes of crushed mint leaves, iced sugar cane, lemon slices, sparkling pomelo, and sweet orange blossoms. I have no idea what is wrong with my nose, but that is not what I experience when I sniff this, so I won't be reaching to apply it to my underarms any time soon.

Namastay Home Aloe Me Whipped Cream, 2 oz - Retail Value $6.99

I love this body cream- it has loads of aloe to soothe sunburned (or freshly shaved) skin, it is lightweight, and it doesn't leave my legs feeling sticky. Plus, it's gorgeous! The scent is delicious too, with notes of apple, melon, and a fresh spritz of lemon.

Time Flies... OCD Hand Sanitizer, 1 oz - Estimated Value $2.50 (Buy the 2 oz version for $4.99)

Hand sanitizer has been making a regular appearance in the monthly boxes since COVID-19 became a part of our lives, and I am always happy to see it. The formula is fast-absorbing, but not as harshly drying as other sanitizers can be. The scent has notes of black raspberries, plums, vanilla, tea leaves, and sugar, and after a few moments when the alcohol fades my hands really are left smelling like a fruity sweet tea. If you're curious about the reasons for naming this hand sanitizer OCD, you can read more about it here.

Nature Calls Toilet Spray, no size listed - Buy the 2.2 oz version for $9.99

I care a lot more about what my toilet smells like when people other than me will be using it, so I like having sprays like this handy. This one is slim enough to fit in your pocket, so you can actually bring it as a traveling toilet buddy if that is something that will provide you reassurance. The scent is a mix of fresh-cut lemongrass and sparkling goji, and I find the fruitiness from the goji to be the dominant scent. To use, just spray it into the bowl before you do your business, and this will create a film over the toilet water to prevent the more unpleasant scents from leaving the bowl.

The Verdict: If I remember correctly, FCS sent a travel-ready box last year, too. I think it's cute for a summer box theme, and I appreciate the extra stay-cation vibes in some of the product names (I'll definitely be namastay-ing home). I always appreciate the fact that this is a low-cost monthly subscription that brings me joy while still also providing useful products, and my bath-and-body-loving heart has a definite soft spot for this subscription.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Signed up today, number 112 on the wait list. Any idea how long the wait tends to be?

I checked out September’s theme, and it’s Cereal Killer. “In the Loop” is one of my favorites, and I’m excited to see what else they come up with.

I love fortune cookie soap so much,, it’s the one subscription I will never cancell mainly because I was on the wait list long enough the first time. I just love their products , my favorite is probably the shower oil
Makes my sink so soft that and the shower smoothies.

I’m not sure if I’ve tried the shower oils, but now I really want to!

…not wet and damp. Dry and damp. LOL

Tiffany

It’s one of those after shower oils that is meant to be used on damp skin. That’s how I use it on myself. For my boys, I use it on wet and damp skin. It’s one of the only things that helps their keratosis. I think FCS also has a “dry oil”, but I haven’t tried that one.

Shower oil is my favorite, too! I even use the fragrance free on my toddlers. This gives my hands a treatment and keeps my cuticles looking great. It works like a dream. In addition to making my skin soft as silk all day, I live that it’s lightly fragrances compared to the whipped cream.

What a great idea to get the non fragrance for the little ones. I have 2 boys and their dad doesn’t let me use anything to scented. I saw the ” naked” non scented shower oil online hopefully it’s still there. Thank you for the great idea

I really liked this months products. August is my last box, but only because I am now buying the full size products from them. I absolutely love their Whipped Soaps. Let me also say their customer service is excellent. Very satisfied with this box and it’s products.

I’m a big fan of their whipped soaps but the aloe me whipped creams and deep conditioner are my two favorite products from the brand!

I stopped getting mine for awhile, too. I missed being able to sample the scents before purchase, so I resubscribed. With the discount code, the math works out for it to be worth it to me to get scents I know I’ll love. And, with month to month (did an annual before), I can easily skip the months that I’m not into.
