Yogi Surprise “Ojas” June 2020 Review

Here is the info book for this month’s box. This month’s theme is “Ojas,” which is your vital energy.

The back of the booklet contains an Ojas asana to encourage energy and wellness.

Gogh Jewelry Design Ohm Charm Necklace - Retail Value $29

According to the info book, the Ohm charm on this necklace is a talisman of support, tranquility, and wholeness. Jasper, the stone also on this necklace, is for protection from negativity. All of those are things I could use more of in these trying times, so even though this necklace doesn’t fit my day-to-day style I would definitely wear it before doing yoga. Even if you don’t believe that the charm on this necklace does anything more than being pretty, I think the act of putting it on with the intention of embracing support and tranquility can be a meditative practice that will help you focus on your intentions.

Yogi Surprise Exclusive: Ojas Journal

Normally I’m not one for tiny journals like these, but I was really happy when I saw that it was a guided journal! It features illustrations of various poses, mantras, and has space for you to draw as well as to write. I really do like the care that went into the creation of this journal, and that makes me more likely to actually use it.

Reverse Your Karma Incense Cones, 7 ct - Buy a pack of 25 for $11.11

I have tried incense cones from this brand before, and I am happy to see them again. I couldn’t find a description of the actual scent of these, which was a bummer because I enjoyed them. Sometimes incense can be a bit intense, but the scent in this one is more uplifting and cleansing to my nose.

Ultima Replenisher Hydration Sampler Pack, 3 ct - Buy a pack of 6 for $7.99

I have not been great about staying hydrated, which I know is one of the meanest things I could be doing to my body. I’m trying, and having these zero-calorie electrolyte sticks to add to my water will hopefully help me actually finish the water bottles I open. This sampler comes with one of each flavor: lemonade, raspberry, and grape. I can be a harsh critic of drink enhancers, so I stuck with just half of one packet to start off. I enjoyed that the flavor wasn’t overpowering, and it was a nice flavor change from plain water without adding sugar.

Yogi Surprise Exclusive: Ojas Tee

I love the print on the front of this shirt- it features the pose Vrikshasa (also known as the Tree Pose), and when I was able to go to yoga regularly one of my instructors would help us visualize growing branches and roots as we held the pose. I feel like this illustration captures the essence of the pose perfectly, and I really like the gradient of colors. I do find the material to be very thin- especially since this is a white shirt, I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing it out in public (but that may also be due to some of my body confidence issues). I like the draping on the shirt, and I have worn it at home when I was doing a self-guided yoga session. Other than being thin, it’s a comfortable shirt with a beautiful print on the front.

Fleur & Bee Nectar of the C Serum, 1 oz - Retail Value $28

My skin is picky about vitamin C serums, so I really appreciated that along with vitamin C (in the form of Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) this also had aloe vera and jojoba seed oil near the top of the ingredients list. With consistent use, vitamin C can help to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots, and I like to use it in the morning because it can also provide antioxidants to fight the effects of pollution on your skin. This serum was lightweight and layered well in my morning routine, and I didn’t notice any irritation after using it, either.

R&R Medicinals Hemp Tincture, 10 mL - Estimated Value $15.33 (Buy the 30 mL version for $45.99)

I am becoming more of a CBD fan with everything happening in the world right now, but since I usually stick with gummies, I was interested in trying out this tincture. To use, you apply one or two droppers-worth under your tongue (one drop is a dose of about 33.33 mg of hemp extract in this bottle) and hold it there for about 60 seconds. I’ll admit that I wasn’t a fan of the oily texture in my mouth, but it did help me to feel relaxed on a day I was feeling overwhelmed.

Jasmine Seven Peppermint and Aloe Feet Wipes, 25 ct - Retail Value $6

It is flip flop season, and this is such a practical box item! I like the idea of using these before stepping on the yoga mat, but they’re equally practical for storing near your shoe rack and wiping off your feet once you return home from the outside world. The peppermint was a refreshing sensorial touch, and I appreciate that these are alcohol-free.

The Verdict: I thought this was a thoughtfully curated box from Yogi Surprise. I like the mix of practical, functional items as well as items you can use to improve your yoga practice. I would say my favorite items this month were the journal and incense cones, but overall I am pleased with everything. Value-wise I couldn't find a value for everything, but the values I did find added up to $78.33. When you throw in the value for the shirt, journal, electrolyte mix, and incense cones, I definitely think you meet the promised value of $100.

Jan

Hello – I’m wondering if you both received the vitamin C product in your boxes? I just now looked at this review of the June box, and realized that I didn’t remember the Fleur & Bee Vitamin C serum. I looked in the box, and found everything else, except the serum. I then looked through my “stash”, and it wasn’t there either. I’m pretty sure I would remember it, because I had ordered a sample set from Fleur & Bee a couple of months back, and liked their line. I didn’t see anything extra in my box, so I’m sure nothing was substituted in its place. I would have loved to have gotten this, because I do use vitamin C in my nightly skin care routine. Thanks.

HI Jan, Yes, I received the Nectar of the C serum. I almost always check what’s in my box against the contents card, so I was pretty sure I got it. However, I double checked for you, and I have it. I haven’t tried it yet. If you didn’t get it, I’d recommend contacting Yogi Surprise. The customer service reps are quite responsive. 🙂

I loved everything in this box. The folks at Yogi Surprise also emailed us prior to receiving the box to ask us what size of shirt we wanted. I love the shirt, and it fit perfectly. The box was beautifully curated, and I loved the July box too. I feel the Yogi Surprise team knows their customers well. Thank you, Yogi Surprise!
