TheraBox includes a mini magazine highlighting the ingredients to happiness included in each month’s box. It contains a note from the editor, opportunities to win free boxes, a list of all the items included in this month’s box, and TheraBox FAQs. I love that TheraBox provides a description of each product, a link to the product’s website, the cost of the item, and a coupon code if available.

Aloe Vera Hydro Sheet Jelly Mask by Vitamasques – Retail Value $7 (currently out of stock)

Aloe is so great for your skin; it rehydrates, softens, plumps, and creates a protective barrier. A lot of people think aloe is mainly used for sunburns, but you really can use it year-round to add that deep hydration dry skin like mine always needs. I just spent a pretty long day in the sun with my kids so this mask felt like the perfect product to use. I got myself cozy in bed and applied the mask, which fit really nicely and snug to my face. It was pretty rolled in the package with lots of the jelly on it so I had to be careful when unrolling the mask before applying. I left the mask on for 20 minutes and then rubbed the excess jelly all over my face, neck, and chest. My dry skin felt instantly hydrated while my light burn felt so much relief without my skin feeling sticky. This is a mask that I would honestly stock up on to have around for whenever I need to give my skin that extra boost of hydration!

Whispers Perfume Oil by Inkling Scents, 0.33 oz. – Retail Value $40

This is such a beautiful bottle of perfume—the fir needles create this magical experience! I honestly adore packaging like this because it almost catches you by surprise when you open it, giving a moment of zen to sit and enjoy its beauty. The scent itself is so clean and beautiful, like fresh air on a clear spring day. I only added a little to my neck and when my husband came over to talk to me he said how great I smelled. This oil has a lot of scents within it, but you won't find it overpowering by any means. This oil is made with fir oil, white fir, violet leaf, jasmine petals, white woods, vanilla, and musk. This little oil has found a place on my vanity along with my other special perfume bottles, and I have been loving wearing this fresh scent daily!

Mid-Day Shine Control by Z Skin Cosmetics, 2 fl oz. – Retail Value $34

I have super dry skin so I might be one of the few people who like to look a bit shiny since it is not a look that I can achieve on my own. I use a lot of moisturizers and oils to keep my skin hydrated and enjoy the glow or shine that I get from those products. So when I see a product for shine control, I always wonder if it is going to work for my skin. The great thing about this product though is that it does moisturize and protect your skin against harmful UV rays, while giving your skin a more matte finish to keep sweat and oil that you get in the summer at bay. Since it is keeping the oils from sweat down, it also helps with seasonal breakouts. Plus, Z Skin Cosmetics products are 100% organic, handcrafted, vegan, and cruelty-free. While I wasn't loving this product when used under my daily foundation, I really loved the clean finish that it gave my skin without makeup, making me look like I still have a matte smoothness that I would achieve with a foundation. The product is also super lightweight and absorbs quickly into my skin, which has made it the perfect product to use on my pool outing days.

Trio Summer Earrings by Gemma Simone – Listed Value $30, Retail Value $65

This trio earring set is so super cute, but man I was shocked to see the retail value on these! They are plated with 14k gold and have a really nice back that keeps your earring in place without risk of falling out. However, each set is on the smaller side and the styles aren't necessarily ones that I would purchase for myself. I do think they are super cute and fun for the summer! The pineapple set is my favorite and pairs really well with a lot of my summer sundresses that I have been wearing so much lately!

Easy Squeezy Electrolytes by Buoy, 2 fl oz. – Retail Value $9.99

Can you believe that this bottle is filled with the electrolytes that you could get from 13 bottles of Gatorade minus the sugar, calories, and other artificial ingredients?! I was on a huge Gatorade kick for a few years between both of my pregnancies and nursing my two kids. I don't really drink them anymore, but sometimes I miss how good they made me feel. It was that fast feeling of hydration and energy that you are getting from the electrolytes. Needless to say, I was really excited to try this squeezy! The bottle says that you can do a quick squeeze straight into your mouth for quick hydration on the go, which I think could be great to keep with you on a hike or run even in case you can't have water with you. I did a quick squeeze and boy was this salty! I was honestly shocked. I added the recommended amount to my water, but I still found I was getting hints of saltiness in it. Once I added some to a La Croix, though, I didn't get the saltiness anymore. Just that good rehydration feeling! This little bottle is already being used a ton!

Ocean Breeze 100% Soy Candle by The Happy Shoppe – Listed Value $14.95

I honestly LOVE receiving candles in subscription boxes! We burn candles pretty much all day at my house because we love them! This little candle is so cute and made of 100% soy. The scent of this candle is incredible. It is fresh and clean without being overpowering and has been able to fill my kitchen and family room where it is burning. The main scent that I pick up from it is driftwood with light sea salt.

Adventure Journal by The Happy Shoppe – Listed Value $18

While I really love this journal and how detailed it is, it does feel like a miss just giving the time we are in right now. A lot of people are canceling vacations and trips, with recommendations to not travel, so an adventure journal centered on travel seems like a bit of a tease. We just had to cancel our big family vacation so maybe I am just being too sensitive. The monthly booklet does mention this in the product description and says that this can be used in the future or used to plan something now for later. All of that aside, I think this is a super fun journal for a travel lover! The pages are filled with places to budget and plan for a trip, to create your packing list, all the way to journaling every adventure from your travels. Being home with two young kids, we never really get a chance to travel much at this point in our lives, but we dream about faraway places constantly. I haven't decided if I am going to keep this for myself for the time when we can travel again, or if I am going to gift this to my best friend that travels constantly with her husband. Either way, I know it will be used one day!

Vitamin Sea Beach Blanket by Earth Stripped – Listed Value $35

This outdoor blanket is so pretty and fills me with summer vibes! I am outside with my kids pretty much all day so a blanket is something I use a lot. We have picnics or just lounge on our patio, playing games, or just enjoying a popsicle before hopping back into the pool. So this blanket has already gotten a lot of love! The fabric is soft and light, plus it folds easily to take with us in and out of the house. Lately, we have been using it on our back patio furniture that tends to get super hot in the afternoon. So, we are able to lounge in style!

The Verdict: This month's TheraBox was truly lovely! Summer has felt a little different for everyone so I think little reminders of the beach, sand, and adventure can be a nice way to sort of drift away from daily realities, even for a few minutes. I am loving smelling the sweet driftwood scent of my beach candle, dreaming of adventures that I can one day place in my new journal. The beach blanket, while not being used at a beach, has gotten so much love outside by my kids on our adventures at our pool. Then, we had some wonderful self-care products this month that remind us to love and care for our skin on these hot summer days! The jelly mask was a huge winner for me coming in on a day that I had just gotten a tiny bit too much sun. This month's estimated retail value is $188.94 making this box an incredible deal considering the $39.98 price ($34.99 + $4.99 shipping). This month really brought me a lot of joy with some truly beautiful products, I mean that perfume bottle alone was a winner for me! The curation and quality with this box are consistently on point which, for me, is where I see the value month to month!

Electrolytes don’t actually rehydrate you. Electrolytes help keep water levels balanced both inside and outside of cells. Most people get enough electrolytes from the food they eat, so taking extra electrolytes can cause an imbalance with some serious symptoms, depending on how much electrolytes are taken (irregular heart beat, twitching, seizures, and confusion).

If, however, you are spending a lot of time in the heat or participating in athletic endeavors that cause a large amount of fluid loss through sweat, or if you have a stomach bug, food poisoning, or cholera where you lose a massive amount of fluid in a short period of time, electrolytes are absolutely necessary to reestablish the fluid levels, but you must also drink water (or water based liquid drinks) to replenish fluid levels. Squirting undiluted electrolytes in your mouth does not replace fluids lost or “hydrate” you.

I take electrolytes every day, but I also run every day, and right now I’m losing about 3-4 pounds of fluid on every run in the heat. When it isn’t as hot, I carry water on the run with me and take electrolytes when I get home. Now that it is frequently in the 80s on every run, I take electrolytes with me (mixed in water) and might take some when I get home too, depending on how much fluid I lost (also mixed in water). The main thing that hydrates me is the water, electrolytes help keep the water levels balanced correctly.

Before I started taking electrolytes after every run, I would sometimes get calf cramps at night and muscle twitching, ,and wake up the next day with a headache, and that doesn’t happen with the electrolytes.

I’m not saying don’t take electrolytes, they are very important, especially now that it is hot and people are sweating more just doing normal outside activities like walking and gardening, but if you are losing sweat, to replace that liquid lost, you must drink water. That is what hydrates you. You cannot just squeeze salt in your mouth and “rehydrate” yourself on the go on a long run or hike.

Thank you for this thorough and well-explained information!

Yes this is still available on the website, and I got one! I love it. They’ve only been doing beauty stuff usually, and I don’t know why they turned into an all beauty box. This one is wonderful and they should do more like this!! Because as a therapist I know self care isn’t just beauty products, and that’s a pretty narrow gender stereotype anyway.

This box is available in their “Happy Shop” for $49.99, + shipping.

It’s of no help when these influencers get so much free stuff that they don’t even know what they are reviewing or giving out the wrong for. I went to grab it for 10% off of $35 but I don’t see anything that makes it worth $50 + 6 shipping at all.

what are you talking about? It says in the review that if you subscribe now you get the July box since it’s now July. This is the June box, and the cheaper price is for subscriptions. Most places sell past boxes for a higher price.

Look again at the ingredients for the Z Skin “SPF” and tell me which ingredient provides sun protection? I’l save you some time and tell you that it has zero sunscreen. Not even zinc oxide. Where is the label that says it gives “x amount of protection for x amount of minutes”, you know, the kind that is required by law? That product has unsubstantiated claims and won’t protect anyone from skin cancer.

Taryn Lowman

Thanks for pointing that out! I am going to reach out to their team and see as in looking through each of the ingredients in a search, none are coming up as providing protection from the sun. Thanks so much again!

Interesting….. it doesn’t actually have any SPF at all! I wonder why it claims to?

Good point. I didn’t even notice it had SPF. I sent a query to the company on their website to ask what provides SPF protection. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

I know that waxes can be used as sunscreen so perhaps its the plant wax listed?
