Gwynnie Bee June 2020 Review

This review is for each of the three-at-a-time items I received June 11th, 2020:

Polka Dot Side Gather Sheath Dress by Connected Apparel, Size 20 — Retail Value $25

I am a sucker for a form-fitting dress, so I absolutely adore this piece! The gathered detail adds definition at the waist with help from the ultra-stretchy fabric as well. I have always had a soft spot for polka dots; they are such a simple, but classic design! The maroon shade to me is a modern take on the more traditional red and white polka dot you see often. The deep jewel tone looks more fall than summer, but possibly accessorizing with orange and mustard yellow pieces could bring more of a '70s color palette/warm weather vibe? This definitely would look fantastic in the fall with a mustard yellow beret and a tan trench coat for a cozy vintage-inspired look!

Blue Gingham Perfect Faux Wrap Dress by Leota, Size 2L — Retail Value $5.50

Okay, guys-- your mind is going to be blown. I received yet another $5.50 dress, what are the odds? Plus, it is a Leota brand dress! I have reviewed quite a few Leota pieces in my day from multiple subscription boxes, and it is certainly a brand I love. If you have a curvy figure a Leota dress will become your best friend. They are known for using fabric with loads of stretch and for their amazing faux wrap dresses! This dress hugs my curves like no other. And oh my goodness-- this dress is the ideal piece for the season! This blue gingham wrap makes me think of picnics, warm evening strolls, and patio brunch dates. It is as perfect for a summer day date as it is for the office (do those still exist?)! I styled this dress with black flats, but I can envision it looking fantastic on a summer evening with low top Converse sneakers and a dark rinse denim jacket.

Short Sleeve Stripe Midi Wrap Dress by Hutch, Size 2x — Retail Value $32.50

Any time I get a true wrap dress, I find myself wishing it was a faux wrap dress. They are so hard to get on, am I alone on this one? In addition, I always find they fit awkwardly on my chest. Always too roomy and droopy. No matter how much I tighten or pull the fabric over my chest, I always feel a bit more exposed than I want. Not necessarily because I want to hide the girls, but I hate when my bra shows in these styles. On the plus side, I do like how you can truly personalize the fit of this Hutch dress. That is the beauty of wrap dresses-- they look awesome on just about anyone! The fabric is ultra stretchy and feels like it is made of a similar material to a short-sleeved mock turtleneck top I own. I am not sure how I feel about the color palette-- it isn't the most exciting to me. Feels way more fall than summer with the grey, navy blue, and forest green. The yellow stripes are the best part of the design as far as I am concerned. I can envision this looking cute with a yellow cardigan, oversized round glasses, and tan Oxfords in the fall for a smart back to school ensemble!

Verdict: Gwynnie Bee was my introduction to the subscription box world three years ago and remains one of my favorites! What I love most about Gwynnie Bee is that they are a rental service. I am able to try styles and trends I might not have otherwise. I also appreciate that you can get pieces highly discounted through their Marketplace, but also with their rewards program and sales they frequently offer. I have received some amazing pieces at incredible prices! Check out my recent April review for further evidence of the killer discounts and deals Gwynnie Bee offers!

The world has been completely turned upside down with the pandemic. We all have had to make major adjustments in every facet of our lives. I generally suggest Gwynnie Bee for business casual looks, but obviously a lot of folks are working from home, myself included (thank goodness!). My area has gone into the green, so malls are open again. However, I have no desire to go shopping in person. I am doing most things online. Gwynnie Bee allows me to have fun with fashion, but from a social distance at the comfort of my own home! I closeted a few new pieces, so I am eager to see what I get in my July box, aren't you?

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent or purchase.

Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month. The three items total up to $63, which is $32 less than my monthly subscription fee! However, take into account that one dress is extremely discounted and I would not have access to such a deal if I wasn't subscribed to Gwynnie Bee. Imagine how much more of a value the service would be if I had shipped the items back to receive more than the three pieces this month!

I dyed my hair orange last night.. Bleached it from dark blue. I still had purple/ pink on prior to orange so messed up. Still lots of purple/ dark spots. But! Looks fixable and ordered supplys to try again to even it all out. Didn’t want to bleach it again, oh well.

Picked out a green dress too.

Love your reviews, hair and clothes.
