Beauty Heroes July 2020 Review feat. Leahlani

You’ll always get a card with a new monthly ritual that includes past and present featured Beauty Heroes items.

The second info card you’ll get has a little more info about the featured brand, Leahlani, as well as details on the two items sent.

Leahlani Meli Glow Illuminating Nectar Mask, 50 mL – Retail Value $52.00

I always enjoy a fancy mask, especially with loads of time at home to indulge. This one has a sweet and fruity scent and it is thick and STICKY. Like, the stickiest mask I have ever applied! That is probably because the #1 ingredient here is raw Hawaiian honey. Honey is full of really great skin ingredients like vitamin B, loads of minerals (potassium, & calcium), and AHAs. AHAs are some of my favorite ingredients because they help to gently exfoliate your face and add brightness. Second after the honey is rose clay, which helps to detoxify and clear out pores. I think the honey+clay combo is really genius because honey tends to lock in moisture while clay can be very drying. Together they work as a team to make sure your face is clear from extra oil and bacteria without totally stripping your moisture barrier. Other goodies inside include loads of fruit extracts, enzymes, hyaluronic acid, and a total of 32 vitamins and minerals. The application here is messy, so be prepared to shower after and consider wearing a top you don’t need to pull over your head! My face looked pretty great after washing this off, and you could totally see more brightness.

Leahlani Mahina Evening Replenishing Elixir, 30 mL – Retail Value $72.00

I love a good night oil and this one is filled with stuff that is especially great for drier skin (like mine!). Boasting chia seed, meadowfoam seed, moringa, marula, and prickly pear seed oils, this bottle is brimming with lipids that help skin feel plump and firm. The oils also have loads of vitamins and antioxidants. The scent here is vanilla, and that comes from 3 different types of vanilla beans, all of which are anti-inflammatory and vitamin-rich. Delightful! Rounding up this dream bottle is the inclusion of Co-Enzyme Q10, which is great if you have anti-aging concerns or want to help prevent or treat sun damage. Oils are usually my last step before bed, but I also like adding them to dry spots under a sheet mask to really give my skin an extra treat. This one absorbs like a dream and leaves behind that soft, sweet vanilla scent. It is an especially luxe treat after using the included nectar mask.

Verdict: This was my first Beauty Heroes box and I am impressed. I really like the Leahlani brand and its focus on natural and topical ingredients. The combo of a mask and oil was a great idea and these two products work beautifully together and create quite a tropical spa sort of evening, especially if you save this ritual for the weekend when you can have a glass of your fave frozen bevvie and work in that oil with a slow facial massage. All in all, this $60 box has a value of $124.00, which is more than double the cost of this month’s subscription.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? I would check the Beauty Heroes site! Currently it looks like they might have a small restock for the July box so it is possible to snag if you catch it before it sells out again. Per BH:

While our July Discovery had initially sold out, we were able to work with the team at Leahlani to add additional Discoveries. Please note that these Discoveries will be available to ship within 7-10 business days.

Value Breakdown: At $58.95 for this box (assuming the more expensive month-to-month option), here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

  1. Just wanted to say thanks so much for showing the ingredients list! As someone with sensitive skin, it’s so helpful 🙂

  2. So happy to hear the mask is balance. I love honey masks, but tend to avoid clay ones since I also have dry skin. And with dry skin, I’m always happy to receive oils! I was able to get off the wait list a week ago, so hopefully it ships soon!

  3. This box looks great, It’s enough to get me to subscribe.

The July box is available currently according to BH site. I’m glad I checked because I really wanted this box. The prepay price is way better than monthly. I think the RV should be $124 since one product is $52 and the other is $72

    The BH site says:

While our July Discovery had initially sold out, we were able to work with the team at Leahlani to add additional Discoveries. Please note that these Discoveries will be available to ship within 7-10 business days.

  4. Thank you for the wonderful review! I’m wondering where Marne is though? Is she ok?

    • Hey Jenny! Marne is good! She is off doing her own thing for a bit. I still see her every night in class though (thank goodness!!). I will give her your greetings <3

      • Thank you Megan! I always enjoy yours and her reviews, glad to know she’s good! 😊
