Dopple Children’s Clothing Subscription Review – Spring 2020

Abby Holsinger
ByAbby HolsingerJun 6, 2020 | 8 comments

Dopple is a quarterly clothing subscription for kids ages 0-10 years old featuring niche brands like Nico Nico, Misha + Puff, and Winter Water Factory, to name a few. Shopping for the perfect pieces for your kiddos can be time-consuming, so Dopple helps to remove the guesswork with their detailed quiz and scheduled convenience, so you can enjoy luxe clothing pieces chosen just for your child at 30-80% off of retail.

Your first Dopple Drop ships 7 business days after filling out the quiz and paying the $10 service fee. From there, a delivery will arrive every quarter. Pay only for what you keep with the $10 fee being credited toward your purchase, and send back the rest. Right now they are offering a 25% (it is usually 15%) discount if all items are kept. Dopple covers shipping both ways.

FYI - COVID-19 Update: Dopple is extending the return period from 7 to 14 days to allow plenty of time to either send back your return or to let them know you'd like to keep everything. If you decide to keep the entire order, you'll be given an additional discount of 25% off the entire order (instead of the 15% discount).

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the quarterly drop including 4-6 items with a $10 styling fee + free shipping.

Dopple Review Spring 2020

Here is some of the information Dopple collected about my son, Ronan, and our expectations pertaining to the budget of our latest Drop:

Ronan's birthday (omitted for privacy)

Gender: Male

Top Size: 3-6 mo

Budget for Tops: Under $20

Bottom Size: 3-6 mo

Budget for Bottoms: Under $20

Shoe Size: 2

Budget for Shoes: Under $25

Budget for Special Occasion Outfit: Under $40

After the initial sizing and budget info, Dopple takes you through a lengthy survey of different styles you may like. They also ask if there are any colors or patterns you love or dislike as well as brand names that "make you swoon."

Each Drop comes with a big black envelope filled with a note from Ronan's stylist, a page explaining how the subscription works, an invoice, and a shipping bag with a return label. Dopple offers free shipping and free returns, always. This month they also sent out a cute sheet of stickers.

Now on to Ronan's new Dopple finds!

Rylee + Cru Seahorse Bubble, 3-6 months - Retail Value $44 (currently on sale for $32), Dopple Price $24

I absolutely love this sleeveless number; the color, soft cotton fabric, and seahorse design make up the cutest little onesie! The back has three snap buttons to make getting this top over baby's head a much easier process, and there are also three snaps at the crotch, just like your basic onesie.

I love the elastic detailing at the legs, which creates that bubbled effect. What an adorable top!

Bear Camp Zebra Button Down, 3-6 months - Retail Value $26.25 (currently on sale for $22.97), Dopple Price $23

This shirt is also so darn cute. I love everything from the zebra print to the color; however, it was quite wrinkly when it arrived. I wasn't sure whether Roni's belly would fit in this 3-6 month size (sorry, buddy!), so I didn't want to wash it right away, and I tried steaming and a pass or two with the iron, but it just shifted the wrinkles. I don't think I am going to purchase this top because I had a hard time getting Ronan's arms into the sleeves, so I am not sure if washing this would help get this cutie unwrinkled.

I loved this top on him, but since he is growing nonstop, it just wouldn't get the wear it deserves.

MM Mayoral Basic Jumper in Lavender, 3-6 months - Retail Value $26.50 (currently on sale for $21.20), Listed Value $29.00, Dopple Price $10

Can I please have this jumper in my size? Once again, that color is spot on! Ronan was so comfy in this bright lavender sweater; it is made of 82% cotton and 18% polyamide which makes it nice and stretchy, so I didn't have to fight to get this one over his head.

You can tell he loves it by that infamous drool spot that he marks all things he loves with. This sweater has two buttons on the left shoulder to make putting this on a cinch, and it is also trimmed in a deeper shade to add some interest.

MM Mayoral Twill Chino, 3-6 months - Listed Value $35, Dopple Price $10

When I first opened Ro's drop, I wasn't crazy about these pants. They seemed stiff and too mature for my little dude, but I have to say, I think they looked really nice on him. The waist fit him perfectly, and they were easy to pull up, even though he is quite the squirmer.

Everything about this pair of pants fit him perfectly except for the inseam. Poor guy needs to get some longer legs, but in the meantime, I think I will pass on this pair for him and find a better fit.

The Verdict: Ro's spring Dopple Drop had some really unique finds from some great brands! I absolutely love the three tops they sent, and the pants were a miss, but I still liked that style. Since I lowered all of the budget inquiries to the most affordable options, I think Dopple really could cater to any consumer looking to treat their kiddos to something special each quarter; I feel that this shipment, because of the unique finds and fun brands they send out, was totally worth the cost.

This subscription really pays attention to the style survey, and the items' prices were all within my specified budgets. The MSRP values on my info sheet came very close to the retail values for the items I could find, so there was hardly (if any) value inflation. The retail value of this month's Drop is $131. My total cost using Dopple's prices, plus the 25% off keep-everything discount, and minus the $10 service fee brings the final cost down to $40.25, which is awesome savings!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You can sign up for a Drop at any time, which would usually ship within 7 business days of completing the survey, but please note, all shipments are slightly delayed at this time. Dopple curates its pieces based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you could get something that fits your child’s style and size even better than the looks above.

Value Breakdown: The total retail value of this Drop comes to $131; the total using Dopple's prices comes to $67, and the total sale price (if I were to keep all 4 pieces), including my 25% off discount, comes to $50.25. With the $10 service fee credit applied, that cost drops again to $40.25. That's a total savings of about 50%!

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Awww. He is so cute! I miss getting to dress my daughter up in all the cute baby clothes. Apparently 7 year olds need ‘cool girl’ clothes. Luckily, Stitch Fix is doing well, but maybe I’ll check out these guys.
