June 2020 BeautyFIX Review

This box comes with a booklet detailing each of the items included. We have 6 different items this month, so strap in!

ClarityRx Glimmer Of Hope Shimmering Facial Oil, 1 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $48.00

I was actually surprised this 'shimmering' oil had zero shimmer inside. Interesting! The major ingredients here are coconut oil, rose oil, squalane, and jojoba oils, along with an assortment of additional oils, like meadowfoam, sunflower, and camellia. For being so oil heavy, it is surprisingly light. I have to admit I was disappointed there was no rose scent here, or really any scent at all. I know lots of people love coconut oil for their face and others won't let a drop touch their skin. I myself have never had an issue with it but I don't think this oil would ever rank higher than some of my other favorites for my face. I did think this felt awesome on my legs though!

The Nue Co. Debloat Food + Prebiotic, 2 capsules - Estimated Value $2.00 (Buy 60 capsules for $60.00)

I don't ever really love getting supplements in a box because there never is enough to know if they have a big effect on my body. There are two tablets here, one for the day and one for night. I did try these after an especially heavy dinner (with way too much salt) and I guess I felt fine? I am not super bloaty in general though, so these might just not be for me.

Smith & Cult Nail Lacquer in 'Analog Fog', 0.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $18.00

I freaking LOVE S&C nail polish! It is among my favorite brands, and certainly the one in the prettiest bottle. This 'Analog Fog' shade is a glossy true plum that you could totally get away with only one coat. Out of habit, I used two in the image below:

It is the sort of plum that looks bright in the sunshine, but darker in shadow, making it great year-round!

skyn ICELAND Oxygen Infusion Night Cream with Glacial Flower Extract, 0.49 oz - Estimated Value $16.83 (Buy a full-size 1.98 oz for $68.00)

I hoard night creams, and I have since I turned 25. This is a habit that is likely to go on forever, as I am pretty protective of my skin and really believe a good night cream makes a massive difference. I liked this one, and I thought the sample size was pretty nice too! Inside there is a soft white cream with an exfoliating AHA, a hydrating and renewing blend of ceramides, and other essential oils. It doesn't really have a scent and absorbs fast, leaving that delightful velvet feeling. My skin looked smooth and felt soft in the morning.

IMAGE Skincare I MASK Hydrating Hydrogel Sheet Mask - Estimated Value $7.00 (Buy 5 masks for $35.00)

I am onsen obsessed and it is my dream to tour Japan and visit all the little baths along the countryside. So anything that mentions onsen immediately grabs my attention. Basically, this gel mask has onsen water inside which is as close to a Japanese bath as I am getting any time soon. It also contains green tea, hyaluronic acid, and aloe and was totally moisturizing. The mask eye holes were a little narrow for my head, but I still found it wearable.

Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray, 1 oz - Estimated Value $5.18 (Buy a full-size 8.5 oz for $44.00)

Finally, our last item is a cult-fave for good reason. This spray is really wonderful for creating that touseled beach look and also perfuming your hair with that classic Oribe scent. You can use it on damp or dry hair, but I find it works best when mine is dry. I like to flip my head upside down, spritz, and tousle!

Verdict: This month's BeautyFix has a value of $97.01 which is good for a $24.95 box. This wasn't my favorite assortment but it still somehow had some of my favorite things, namely the Smith & Cult nail polish and the Oribe wave spray. I also loved the sheet mask and the night cream, though I could have done without the supplement and the facial oil didn't knock my socks off. All in all, the nail polish itself almost covers the cost of the box, but I am hoping next month has a few more wins!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available!

Value Breakdown: At $24.95 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • ClarityRX Oil $12.35
  • The Nue Co Supplement $0.51
  • Smith & Cult Nail Polish $4.63
  • skyn ICELAND Cream $4.33
  • IMAGE Skincare Mask $1.80
  • Oribe Spray $1.33

Alternatively, each of the 6 items has an average cost of $4.16.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Another month of no spoilers? What are you doing BeautyFix?

Right? SO glad i canceled.

Just came here looking for spoilers. I don’t think I’ve seen any in the Facebook group either. Not a good sign. My debit card expired and I was gonna update it but now I don’t think I will till I see spoilers. I just signed up for an annual of seenew and won’t be needing skincare, not that I do now anyways but still haha!

Love the Oribe and nail polish but not impressed with this months box.

I really ho-hummed this box when I saw the spoilers but I’ve got to say that the oil is pretty nice. I’ve been using it on my legs after shaving and it’s wonderful. I was also kind of surprised by the beach wave spray. I tried it not expecting to like it but it actually worked on my fine wavy hair. The night cream also works well for me with no pilling – which was something several people mentioned. The nail polish is a perfect summer color. Overall it turned out to not be such a bad box after all.

Great review! But overall, I feel this box just isn’t a good value for the price point. My May allure had a better value for $10 less a month and my June Ipsy Plus had almost $50 greater value for the same price. I realize this box has 6 items and both of those boxes only have 5. But I agree Megan, the two little supplements aren’t really even enough to try. The night cream does look really nice and it’s nice to see them branch out a bit with the nail polish and Oribe.

Meh. I thought it was just okay. Will try the oil for body.

I’m still waiting on the Naturisimo discovery box from last month. I emailed them twice and messaged them on FB and no reply. Apparently they have non-existent customer service. Buyer beware! Never had a shipment problem until now.

Idk if you used the contact form or emailed them directly but I had problems getting a reply from the contact form. I did get a reply from help at Naturismo dot com. I had a comment with the email but it didn’t post

Anna

Kim,

There’s an email for them, I had tried to use the contact form on the site and they never saw my message but when I emailed with order number I received a fairly quick reply. [email protected]

Luna

Oh man, I’m sorry to hear that. Even though I’ve never had any issues yet, the lack of tracking has always made me feel a bit weary each time I order. I love the element of surprise in my boxes, but not when it’ll show up on my doorstep. I guess right now I’m willing to chance it until I have the same experience as you, then I’m sure I’ll stop buying them too. Lack of CS is a big deal breaker for me. Can you file a chargeback? Maybe in a final email let them know they have x number of days to reply with the shipping status of your box or you will be filing a chargeback with your credit card company for non-delivery of purchased goods and will be submitting your email chain as proof of lack of response on their part. Usually the word “chargeback” will get a company to respond to you.

Luna

I got one 🙂 Did you get one? These are always so hard to pass up for me, lol. I emailed MSA earlier this morning about it. Hopefully, they’ll post about it soon!

Luna

The minimum for shipping is 25gbp. I think mine usually takes about 1.5 weeks, give or take.

Cindy

What is the minimum for free shipping? How long does it take to arrive? Thanks.

Luna

Thanks for sharing the BBB spoilers Anna! 🙂

Luna

Hi Darlene! Currently, the currency conversion rate of GBP to USD is 1.25, so that would make the box $23.69 right now (18.95gbp * 1.25 rate). The rate can change daily, so if you’re curious you can Google “gbp to usd” and the current day’s conversion rate will show. 🙂

Anna

That’s a good idea. I try and add things I’d like to try but want to sample first but will have to try adding the same ones next time.
I saw spoilers for the next British beauty box too.
Elemental Herbolgy grapefruit & mandarin hand & body wash
Dr Botanicals lemon superfood all in one rescue butter
Emma Hardie moringa renewal treatment mask
Sofia Latif eye oil

darlene corey

Hello Luna. I was going to order one of these boxes, but how do you convert to us dollars? i think that is why i haven’t ordered before.

Luna

I got some samples too 🙂 I like to add the same ones in each order so when I get around to using them I’ll have as close to a full size as I can get, lol. I love eye serums, so the two I get every month are the ones from Tata Harper in the gold packaging & Kahina Giving Beauty. I usually have to add one more so that’s where I “let” myself get something new. 🙂 I saw last month’s kit is still available too! At least it was ~5 hours ago.

Anna

I ordered one this morning too, I always end up adding samples to get free shipping but the box looks good. Their boxes are usually only available a day or so.

Mary

Megan, what is your go to favorite night cream? I need one!!

Luna

If you like Derma E, they’re currently offering a free full size Hydrating Night Cream (2oz; a $29.50 value) with any purchase; no code needed, it will automatically add to your cart, and free shipping at $25. They’re also offering 30% off sitewide; use code HAPPY36.

They currently have on sale their Mother’ Day kit for $29.99 (originally $49.95), and the discount brings it down to $21. For free shipping, you can also add a Radiant Skin Kit for $6.75, which after the discount brings the total down to $25.72.

Oooh, I’m glad you mentioned one of the supplements was for night. I didn’t bother reading the pack. I wonder if the night one causes drowsiness. I brought the pack to work, and was going to take both (not at the same time) sometime in the future. I’ll make sure to bring it home next time I’m in the office!

Beth

Ooh. Love the color of that polish!

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Looks like a good box to me. But that may be because I’m also a sucker for Smith & Cult polish. I would have subbed for this box, but the variant colors of the polish included one or more I’d already gotten from Ipsy or Birchbox.

I agree about the black shredded paper in the box. I always have to clean the items since that dust gets everywhere. I love the facial oil…for my body. I use it all over, after the shower, and it’s awesome. It makes my skin super soft and smooth.

Wonder if oil will work on hair… hmmnn… seems might be okay to try a few drops. Wish I had a July spoiler …

Two months ago, powder from the packing sizzle got all over my new couch. Wrote CS about it, and they credited 5 bucks to my account. Did not ask for it, either. They ha the best CS of any business I know.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

Their cs has gone downhill. They even admitted as much when they “stepped away” from social media to focus on fixing their cs issues. I’ve been trying all week to figure out why my last dermstore order never arrived and it’s impossible to make contact. Unfortunately I’m going to have to dispute charges with my cc company. I loved Dermstore for years. I hope they can get it together.

Carla

I agree. Their customer service is top-notch. My May box came without one of the items And when I reached out they sent me 2 replacements and a sample of a face wash. 5 star customer service.

Milena

This wasn’t my favorite box either but I still love that I get to try new products. I’ve always wanted to try S&C polish but couldn’t justify the price (& I have at least 70 other nail polishes in my collection, mostly Essie). Since getting one in this box I can see why they cost so much. That bottle looks huge & feels heavier than others. It has only .5ml more polish than an Essie bottle but looking at it, it seems like it’s almost double the amount!

Megan, I know this is a dead thread, but the mask reminded me that you can buy mineral salts bath mixes online from a lot of onsens!!

Good review. Yup it looks like an ok box but i don’t think I’ll subscribe though. I guess i finally have too much stuff

Reply ButtonReply

M

It was an OK box. Nice review, thank you.

My biggest complaint is the black shredded paper they use to pack everything in. It gets everything covered in black dust. I really wish they would go back to the white.

Reply ButtonReply

Katharyn

Absolutely agree on the black shredded paper! I emailed cs months ago about it…..and they emailed back that they would send my complaint to the powers that be. It is just a nuisance! I have to clean every item off and it gets everywhere! I would rather them be packaged with nothing….than that!!
