Switch is a jewelry rental service that lets you try out designer jewelry without the commitment. You pick your favorite pieces and try them out for as long as you want with a relatively small monthly fee. Switch also offers the option to purchase jewelry pieces at a discounted member price. For every month that you’re a member, you get a $10 credit that you can use towards the purchase of a piece of jewelry at the special member price.

This is a review of the $69 Black Membership that includes 3 pieces a month.

Switch offers free Priority shipping via USPS (1-3 day expected arrival). Each package comes with a prepaid USPS return label, so you can leave your return for your mail carrier or drop it off at the post office if you’re the nervous type. Shipping is free both ways, and they just ask that you package your items just as they were received to return them. It’s important to save the mailer and packaging for your return.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Switch Subscription Box April 2020 Review

Everything arrived in a super slick and very high-end looking black box. Inside, there were multiple info cards explaining all the deets about this subscription. All of these cards are really informative and helpful in explaining all the facets of this service. They cover care tips, return instructions, and even a guide if you fall head over heels in love with a piece, which... does... happen.

Let's see what I picked this month!

Rebecca Pinto Arp Earrings in Sterling Silver – Retail Value $225.00, Member Price $200.00

First off, Rebecca Pinto is one of my favorite jewelry designers of the moment. Her stuff is so organic and amazing.

While I have historically not been super into hoops, that has really changed in the last year. And a sterling silver pair with organic shapes quite possibly inspired by (I'm guessing) Jean Arp? I HAD to borrow these! Since every single earring is unique, I am guessing Switch must have a few pairs, since mine looked different than the ones on their own site. A detail like that only makes jewelry more precious to me personally. These are quite the statement while still being lightweight. I kind of love them!

Swoon.

Gucci Oversized Cat Earrings in Sterling Silver – Retail Value $250.00, Member Price $245.00

You all probably know by now that I am not a huge logo sort of gal, but I do like designer pieces that are more subtle and perhaps a little quirky too! These kitten studs by Gucci were calling my name. They are so wildly detailed and the texture reminds me of a pen sketch. The only downside is that these are solid sterling, meaning they are heavy and tend to droop a little on my smaller ears. I think with a more supportive backing these would be a home run.

Meow!

Agmes Large Cora Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver – Retail Value $350.00, Member Price $315.00

Agmes is another favorite of mine, and this disc necklace was unlike anything I had borrowed. The disk itself is rather large, but not too heavy, and suspended from a cord of black suede. The cord arrived open, but was easy to wear, simply with a knot in the perfect place. This also makes the length adjustable. This is a very cool piece.

Minimal and bold.

The Verdict: My Switch pieces this month were pretty dreamy! I think I am obsessed with each one for different reasons, but those Rebecca Pinto loops really made an impression on me. It also appears I was very much in a sterling silver sort of mood, a trend I see myself continuing with into the spring and summer. I feel like I have worn gold for so long, it might be a fun change. Switch is a great subscription for exploring such things, and I had a ton of fun this month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Pieces can get snatched up quickly, and the number of pieces they have per style varies. You may or may not see these pieces in their available inventory list – but you might just see something you like even more! This isn’t a “styled” subscription, meaning you can pick exactly what you want from the available list – it’s not selected for you based on an algorithm or your preferences.

Value Breakdown: In this shipment, I tried out $825.00 of jewelry for $69 – which is about 8% of their retail value and a great deal if it works for your budget and needs. It’s pricier than Rocksbox (which offers mid-range designer jewelry) but less than Rent the Runway (which offers designer jewelry, accessories, and clothes, too).

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I tried this but most stuff I wanted was usually already borrowed. Plus I was scared to lose a $1200 earring.

I really don’t get it. 99% of people will never know you’re wearing designer expensive jewelry so what’s the point? Cheaper stuff looks just as nice and without the price.

Those Arp-inspired (I thought maybe Kandinsky at first but I think you’re right about Arp!) earrings are gorgeous!!!

I’m a bit shook by the price tags on all of those but those earrings are stunning!

The other pieces were meh to me – I have silver cat studs that size and while they aren’t quite as textured or detailed, and they’re certainly not solid sterling – they were also maybe $5 at a flea market.

The necklace is super fun and artsy as well, I just can’t get over that price tag

Break

The only reason I’m avoiding trying this service is because I know I’d be purchasing at least one piece every month 😂 those Gucci earrings are so sweet

It can get really difficult. There is still a resin bracelet from a few months back ($300) that I think about daily.

I had to look up what you were referring to. https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2019/10/switch-review-oct-2019.html Nice!

Sandra

This is far too expensive a service for me, but wow, the pieces are amazing.
