Stitch Fix Kids May 2020 Review

This month there was a bit of a delay in our Fix. We received this email from StitchFix:

We noticed that you recently scheduled a Fix with us. We’re so excited to help you find something you love, however, we wanted to let you know that we are experiencing delays in our fulfillment center right now. We are working to get these delays reduced but unfortunately, your Fix will be arriving later than originally scheduled.

We truly appreciate your patience as we navigate this situation during these times and sincerely apologize for the delay. If receiving a Fix at a later date is not convenient for you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at hello@stitchfix.com and we'd be happy to help you out. We look forward to being a part of your closet!

In our Stitch Fix Kids delivery, we received this cute sticker sheet. They also provide an envelope with a prepaid shipping label for easy returns and exchanges.

This is the invoice that was sent in the Fix. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $206, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $134.50. That's a savings of $71.50 on this Fix! (This invoice did take into account some personal credits that I have, FYI.)

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist. It looks like she has a new stylist this month, Brittany. Let's see what she sent!

Jasmine Slide Sandal by Mia Kids, Size 1Y - Cost to Keep $20.00

These slide sandals are cute and easy for her to slip into. She really liked the look of them and found them to be pretty comfortable. Unfortunately, they were just a smidge too short for her feet. While they might have worked for right now, I don't think they would last through the summer for her!

Ameliya Dress & Denim Jacket Set by Squeeze, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $34.00

This dress jacket combination is so cute! Liv really loved the bright dress and the fun tropical pattern and I thought it was adorable paired with this denim jacket. They are connected right now, but just by the basic plastic tag, so these can be worn separately. We do already have a denim jacket though and certainly don't need two, although I did think this was a very reasonable cost though for this set. The jacket has a good amount of stretch to it and is nice and soft making it ideal for a kid's jacket, too!

It is really cute and as much as we loved the dress, it was a bit too short on her long legs. I hope we can find a dress this bright and fun elsewhere!

Antonella Romper by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $24.00

This little romper is such a fun summer outfit! I love the mint green and Liv loved the cute pink flamingo pattern. The straps had a fun braided detail and while she claims it was comfortable, it seemed a bit short on her and wasn't the best fit at the bottom. Since it fit her well at the top, I think that sizing up probably wouldn't have worked out too well for her since it might have been too low. The material was pretty thin, so this would be a great lightweight summer outfit.

Lexy One Piece Sqimsuit by Limited Too, Size 7/8 - Cost to Keep $24.00

Liv really loved this bathing suit - who wouldn't? The metallic rainbow butterflies are so pretty set against the dark blue and I loved the lace butterfly detail at the back! She was so excited about this one, but she found it to be pretty uncomfortable on her. I think maybe it was a bit too short for her frame? Who knows? I think she's had another growth spurt so we might be entering that in-between again stage in sizing! Otherwise, the quality was great and this would have been a winner if it had fit her better! Although I would have asked for a price match since I found this online for only $13.14!

The Knit Dolphin Short by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $16.00

These shorts are really cute and they match the dress that she received in last month's fix and of course, she loved them! These are just basic cotton shorts, no pockets or anything, but perfect for running around in. They have a drawstring waist for an adjustable fit although these seemed to fit her pretty well.

The Cross Back Tank by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $14.00

This cute top is a great summer tank! It is soft and a little stretchy and I love the light purple color. It has a fun strappy detail at the back and it fits loosely making it really comfortable. I can see her wearing this one a lot this summer.

The Tulip Hem Hoodie by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $26.00

This hoodie is fun and I love the cross- hem at the front, but this was not really Liv's style, nor is it a good choice for May on the East coast! It is actually a pretty thick, stretchy knit (5% spandex) and while it's soft and fit her really well, we just won't get any use of out this at the moment.

The Basic Legging by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $12.00

These leggings are another item that we probably won't need at the moment since the weather is finally warming. They are cute and have a spring vibe to them with pretty little flowers and bright colors. I was tempted to keep these because they are so cute, but they were just a tad tight at the ankles when slipping them over her feet, so I'm sure this would only get worse once we break them out to wear again in the fall.

Maria Knot Sleeve Tee by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $14.00

This shirt is so cute and very soft. I love the fun knot detail at the sleeves and the message is good, too. It's also a bit more subtle which I like. The chalk-type heart is so fun and the colors are great. This shirt will be perfect for summer and will probably last well into the fall for her, too.

Liza Tiered Knit Skirt by Joules, Size 8 - Cost to Keep $22.00

Our last item is this fun ruffled skirt that Liv deemed perfect for twirling. I love the bright colors and it fit her very well. She can throw some shorts on underneath so that she can play in it too since its a nice lightweight cotton that moves well. She was in love with this one although I do think the cost is a bit much for a skirt, so we are still debating about keeping this one! Her stylist did send a size 8, so she can probably get away with wearing this one next year, too.

The Verdict: It's always tough when they switch your stylist, but overall, Liv and I were still pretty happy with her Fix from Stitch Fix Kids this month. We are having some sizing issues again it seems, but that happens anywhere we go since her 5-year-old frame is the height of a 7 or 8-year-old! Most of the selections felt like perfect choices for spring and summer, although there were a few that didn't feel quite appropriate. I left feedback though so I'm sure they will send more seasonally appropriate pieces next month based on that! Once again, this service is incredibly convenient and we love seeing what they will send each month!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this Fix if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what we got, but you could get something that fits your child's style and size even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This styling service costs $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $206.00. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the Fix is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $134.50. That’s a discount of around 35% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

You guys must live in a different East Coast than me if a hoodie isn’t necessary for spring 😂 cause we only got into the low 70s this week! Anyway, I love those floral unicorn leggings, and the skirt can be very versatile (tucked in tank in summer, pink corduroy jacket with tights/leggings in fall). I love seeing what Liv gets each month!

I LOVE StitchFix for Kids! I have received awesome clothes for my daughter at a decent price! Sometimes they don’t get the weather right for the East Coast, but overall it’s a great deal!
