Lip Monthly April 2020 Review

This little card notes that this is our April box and it includes some information about their referral program.

Normally, Lip Monthly sends their products in a little makeup bag (check out past reviews here), but this month we received a simple drawstring pouch with our goodies inside. I’m not sure if this is a permanent change or not!

Naked Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Mother Nature #6 – Retail Value $14.99

This first item is our non-lippie item, a loose eyeshadow in a really fun shade. This pigment has so many different colors in it that seem to shift with the light. There are browns, purples, and grays with a metallic sparkle to them. I have actually sampled this before from another box and I do love the color, but since it is a loose pigment, it’s just too messy for me, personally. It lasted a few hours, but not as long as I would have liked it to without primer.

I was worried the color would be too dark for me, but the magic color somehow works! I really wish this was a solid shadow because it’s such a beautiful and versatile color!

Noyah Organic Vanilla Lip Balm – Retail Value $3.99

Our first lip item is another one I have sampled before and it’s a basic vanilla lip balm that works well to hydrate your lips with a very light flavor and scent. This organic balm is made in the US and contains only 5-ingredients: coconut oil, beeswax, olive oil, stevia, and natural flavor. I’m always happy to have another lip balm that I will inevitably misplace! Haha.

Laritzy Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Whip – Retail Value $20.00

This liquid lipstick goes on smooth and dries quickly. I was worried the color would be too orange for my skin tone, but it turned out to be more of a rust color with a hint of pink in it, so it was more flattering than I anticipated. While I was okay with the color it ended up drying to a really chalky finish that I didn’t like the look of and it was pretty drying for my lips. It had decent staying power though and I’m sure others who enjoy a matte finish (and have better hydrated lips!) would like this formula!

Here it is on. It doesn’t look so chalky here since it was right after applying it, but that came soon after.

Bellapierre Glitz it Up in Anemone – Retail Value $20.00

This liquid lipstick is so unique! It is a matte to glitter finish and the color is gorgeous. This lippie feels like a commitment since it dries down so quickly and the color is so intense, but it actually removed easier than I thought. When it gets wet it seems to rub off a bit, but otherwise, the staying power is good. I had to actually line the inside of my lips with this one because it was such an intense color in comparison to my mouth. I actually love this for an incredibly bold lip, although my kids looked at me like I was crazy. It comes across as red, but it leans a little pink and has tiny blue and purple sparkles in it when it dries that you can only see up close. The glitter is really fun without standing out in a wild way.

Here it is on. It’s really dramatic, but so fun!

Swatched from top to bottom we have the Laritzy, Bellapierre, and Naked Cosmetics.

Verdict: This month’s Lip Monthly bag had a good range in colors. While the Laritzy wasn’t great for me personally, I liked the color and the Bellapierre is a really fun and bold lipstick that was very different. The eyeshadow is really pretty and even though it is loose I might have to make an exception since it is so unique. The lip balm is, of course, a basic necessity, so all-around, a pretty decent collection. Especially considering the total retail value is $58.98 which is awesome for a $12.95/month subscription with a promised value of $50+!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up now, you’ll get the May box as your first box.

COUPON: Use code 25OFF to save 25% off your first box!

Value Breakdown: This subscription costs $12.95 and we received a total value of $58.98 so here is what you are paying approximately for each item:

  • Naked Cosmetics: $3.29
  • Noyah: $0.88
  • Laritzy: $4.39

  1. I used to have this sub. I have to say I never had any issues with CS or cancelling my sub. I had to cut back on my subs for financial reasons so I kept Ipsy and Boxy. Then I slowly snuck Allure, the now-defunct Sephora Play, and Look Fantastic back in.

  2. Honestly the worst monthly makeup subscription bag. The CS is pretty much non existent and takes forever to actually process your order (maybe since it was my first) who knows. I ended up cancelling.

  3. I know it’s a lip product sub primarily, but that eyeshadow is so-o pretty! It does look *really* intimidating in the pot, so I was surprised.
I’m wondering, since you said the loose powder is too much of a messy hassle, if it would be possible to create yourself a little pan of “pressed” powder via the how-to-salvage-that-shattered-eyeshadow (or any other pressed product that got free of its confines) method? Using isopropyl alcohol, an eye dropper, an empty pan, a spoon, and the powder of course! (Obviously some of these can be substituted with whatever else you have on hand that can suit the purpose.) I’ve fixed up 3-4 pans of product this way and, while not perfect, they absolutely are useable – which is what I was going for.

I don’t know if it would work with loose powder, but it’s just a thought. I would use just a little bit, try making a tiny pot, to test my hypothesis first, but it may be worth a shot for that fantastic shade!

    • Thanks, Lux! I was actually thinking about seeing if that was a possibility to turn it into something less messy. I’ll be checking that out for sure! ☺️

  4. There really isn’t a “good” range of colors, considering it’s two lip colors, and they’re the same shades they send over and over in iffy quality brands.

    • Sometimes I get a lot of nudes in one bag, so having a brighter color and one that was more muted felt like a good range to me.

      • I agree with Brandi. A couple months ago I got a whole bag of nudes. It was all useless to me. And over time they do send a lot of different colors. i’ve received the dreaded nudes in all different shades, purples, bright pinks, light pinks, reds, glitters, glosses, creams, etc. I even got an orange that I really liked. I don’t really know what else one can expect. not only that, yes, they send a lot of not-well-known brands, but they have also been sending some of the exact same products that have been in Allure beauty boxes.

  5. Do not get this subscription!!! You will have to cancel your credit card to end the sub! Products are crap and you will never get a reply if you cannot access your account”. Spend you money elsewhere.

  6. The Bellapierre is SO pretty!

    • It is. I wish I had received that color instead of the horrible nude color I received.

      • That’s a bummer! Hopefully next month you’ll get more color! I usually get a lot of nudes and I don’t pull them off well.
