Laurel & Reed March 2020 Review

Laurel & Reed comes in a beautiful gift box with a black ribbon tied in a bow. For that reason, they pack it in an outer cardboard box so the presentation doesn't get ruined.

There's a card that simply states all of the things you can expect from the subscription and another info card that features a lovely pink swirl print on one side with the items clearly listed out with retail prices and short descriptions on the other.

Lather Caviar Lime AHA Cleansing Creme, 4 oz - Retail Value $23.00

This cleansing creme is extremely gentle. L&R has sent at least one Lather product in the past which I've enjoyed, so it's no surprise that this one is nice as well. The cleanser comes out as a white opaque cream with a faint citrus scent that isn't overpowering. There's no texture or grit here, just a really moisturizing feel. Once I begin to massage the cream into my face, a soft lather appears and when rinsed away, only a clean complexion remains. My skin doesn't feel tight or dried out after but looks brighter and fresh.

Suntegrity Sport Mineral Sun Stick SPF 30, 1.62 oz - Retail Value $38.00

Although I'm not out in the sun as much as I'd like to be these days, sunscreen is still important! Harmful UV rays still penetrate glass, so if you're in a car, or sitting by a sunny window all day like I am, you should still be wearing sunscreen to protect your skin. This stick makes it really easy to rub anywhere on your body to swipe on sun protection. It does leave a little bit of white on my skin, but once I rub it in, it becomes invisible. Since it's the sport version, it's also water-resistant which means once I'm able to go swimming again, this will be a great companion.

100% Pure Vitamin C Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $42.00

Continuing the orange/citrus theme this month, the vitamin C serum from 100% Pure has a medium viscosity that absorbs quickly. It not only promotes collagen production but also hydrates my skin with aloe which I can feel immediately. it doesn't feel sticky in the least and the pump makes it easy to disperse onto my fingertips and then my skin. It actually doesn't have much of a scent at all which is nice for anyone with a sensitive sniffer. The label says that it's most effective in the evening so this can go on after cleansing and toning, before hitting the hay.

Midnight Paloma Facial Dry Brush - Retail Value $22.00

I know dry brushing for the body became quite popular a handful of years ago but I never got with it. The brush that Laurel & Reed has sent is specifically for my face which is more my speed. It's made of incredibly soft bristles and has a natural wood handle, a rope to hang it with, and even its own dust bag. Not only does this new tool feel really nice to use each morning, but it also looks beautiful. The brush came with a cute little booklet that goes over the steps on how to use it, complete with illustrations. The main reason to dry brush is to "awaken" my face as well as get the circulation flowing. Starting at the top of my face, I brush down the sides of my face with gentle pressure and long strokes. I continue around my eyes, across my forehead, down my cheeks, across my jawline, and down my neck. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes and I do feel more awake and a bit invigorated afterward.

The Verdict: March's Laurel & Reed box had a strong theme, like always which is usually visually pleasing. The orange color came through and all four products served a different purpose. The brush is by far my favorite item this month but the sunscreen will prove to be helpful when I go on a hike. The serum and cleanser are both perfect for daily use and neither had an overpowering scent. Another great box, Laurel & Reed! The total for the 4 items this month comes to $125 which is more than double the cost of the box.

There’s some problem with the Boxwalla beauty post it doesn’t load more than the title an image and the box theme.

I was able to view it fine when it first posted, but I noticed yesterday evening (and still this morning) I could no longer scroll down the page. I can see the first few comments (if I click the Comments link), but I can’t scroll down to view the other comments… but all other posts I can view fine. I’ve only tried on my tablets & phone, so later today I’ll try on my laptop.

I tried on my laptop last night, and I was able to scroll through the post & comments with no issue.

I sent an email, I was able to look up the contents elsewhere but it would be nice if the page would load and I could read the comments. Boxwalla is one of my favorites, I’m excited for June box.

The face brush sounds interesting to use while I am drinking my pot of coffee. I never saw one for the face.

“Pot of coffee” 😆 Sounds like me. I’ve actually experimented with using the brush as a foundation brush and have found it works really well.
