Ipsy Reveals Are Up for the May 2020 Glam Bag Plus!

Beth, I received my Plus yesterday.

I have a GBP that shipped around the the 13th and wont arrive til the 26th! I didn’t get any points so consider yourself ahead of the pack. They had a billing problem involving add-ons that recently got resolved and I think because of this that’s why boxes are arriving later than usual.

Just wanted to let you know, unfortunately the Coloured Raine is made by Ipsy in China. Not saying there’s anything wrong with China🤗, just letting you know that you won’t be trying the brand Coloured Raine, you’ll be trying Coloured Raine by Ipsy. I have to say, at least they are honest about it, it says so on the packaging.

Yes, I purchased 3 Kate Somerville add-on’s. When my box arrived, only 2 of the 3 were in there.

Beware! I too ordered add-ons this month: good genes, dq wrinkle warrior, avette face wash and soroci eye serum. Then on that same day, I saw them place a hold for the amount in my checking account but yesterday I saw that the hold was released but nothing was debited from my account! WTF? I emailed Ipsy asking what gives but I haven’t heard from them yet. You may wanna check that you were billed successfully. I thought I was, I got the confirmation email thanking me for my add on purchases and I saw them added to my glam bag items on the app page 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Despite filling out the “beauty quiz” or profile, or whatever they call it, filling in pale, cool, dark brown hair, green eyes, I get the same bag as you, except that I was able to choose the Good Genes (which I bought a large size several months ago and will be needing a new one, anyways, so perfect timing!).

I also had to buy add ons to get a bag that I would enjoy, other than the Good Genes. I will look like a vampire trying to go in costume as Jennifer Lopez. That’s exactly what I think will happen. By the way, the lipstick looks lovely in YouTube videos vs how it looks in the IPSY picture.

You are the only other person that I think posted about NOT having a Mimosa moment, haha! I wrote something to the effect that I like Mimosa trees and it was definitely not a Mimosa moment, but it also isn’t a bottomless Mimosa brunch moment, either!

Hope we both wind up enjoying what we receive.

Disappointment actually has the opposite effect on me. I didn’t even buy any 3 dollar add ons, and I am not excited about even one item in my bag. So, of course, it has already shipped. Lol

I got the Skyn Iceland as well. At $55 full retail, $18 as an addon was a steal!

You’ll have to tell us how the Wrinkle Warrior products are. I almost went for them, but didn’t.

If you look at swatches online or especially on YouTube where it’s tried on, you can see it’s actually not brown at all! Ipsy could really do better with representing colors in their pics. Hope you like it after all 🙂

If you received the liquid lip in cupcake, that is actually a beautiful mauve-nude shade that reviewers on YouTube are calling “my lips but better.”

I was bummed about getting what appeared to be that brown cupcake color and did some research only to find nothing but positive reviews, in fact some reviewers are saying that out of the 4 sugar rush liquid lipstick shades available, cupcake is their favorite. I don’t know why IPSY has such an atrocious sample photos that looks nothing like the actual shade itself, but after investigating further I went from being incredibly disappointed to really excited about it. I’m pale with pink/cool undertones so I was baffled by that color appearing in my Plus bag, but In reality it’s nothing like the pooh brown shown on IPSY‘s website.

Totally agree that it’s nice to skip bags without cancelling and you can do it for multiple months at a time, and also agree that many people are probably somewhat happy with what they got. I still find Ipsy to be a more favorable option than Boxycharm or Sephora Play (already discontinued as of April 2020). It’s nice that you can pick a product and be able to add on both full size and sample/travel size products. Ipsy also have a slightly a better balance of skincare and makeup. And I find updating my profile each month to be helpful with getting a more favorable selection of products based on what I see in the spoilers. For May, I stayed on because I was able to select the Sunday Riley Good Genes, this one item paid for the entire box and some, plus I got a few other items I was pretty excited about (Wander Beauty Brow Gel, always interested to try another mascara, and the Nomad Palette). For April, I took my chances and was able to get the Cela Rose Cream (which I really wanted) and the $50 Dutch Dirt Mask (paid $12 for it as an add-on and it’s done amazing things for my skin and helping with breakouts). In March, I re-activated purely to get the Tatcha creams, which were all add-ons. Still worth it even though I wasn’t a fan of the products in my Plus box. Personally, I’m realistic in terms of getting 2 to 3 items I want per box and pausing when I have product overload or don’t see a single thing I want during spoiler/product selection time. For $25 a month, it’s a great opportunity to try out fancy expensive products that I’m not necessarily willing to pay full price for, and I’ve personally ended up with many products I love. People need to be realistic with their expectations. You will end up with lip products, eyeliners, mascaras, eyeshadow, highlighter and other palettes you don’t want. And you will have months when you are mad at it. Overall I still find $25 a good deal for the most part given how expensive these products are when you get them from Sephora/Ulta.

Same here! Can’t believe I’m receiving one more mascara and an eyeliner. They ignore our preferences and don’t keep track of what they’d already sent us. Also the brands… never heard of most of them. Really disappointed.

I’m not subscribed to ipsy at all but I was wondering since I’m too late to have a chance to pick the sunday riley lactic acid as my choice is there any chance I can get it by chance? Or is it that if it got all picked out during choice those are the only ones who are getting sunday riley? I know it’s probably a small chance but I’m curious to know before I sub for the glam plus bag

I could not agree with you more. Even though I always get one good product that more than pays for the box, I’m tired of getting 4 other junk, ugly items I have no interest in. This isn’t me complaining, because I won’t be back to do the same next month. Done with Ipsy.

Sherry, please read my reply to you on the regular GB thread. I was able to cancel my bag this month and get a refund, hopefully you can too!

When they sent the email, it was clear that quantities are limited. I’ve been out of luck, I know, most of the time. I’ve bought every single item that SR buys, but they aren’t going to give me anything produced by here because of that. I’ve given good reviews of all sorts of companies that I NEVER receive their products, but instead, some weird knock-off junk like that Betty Boop fiasco (yes, that is what I’m calling it). I have everything put together nicely for a warm-toned person that is lovely, but I am so fair and cool-toned. I’m going to try to make it work, I guess, since I can’t seem to be able to trade the Nomad face palette for a bronzed goddess and the Coloured Rain Mimosa Moment, also for a bronzed goddess. As far as having to pay for add ons, that’s the only way I seem to able to get anything good. I’m getting pretty sick of it. I’m beginning to see an uprising, to join the movement. I’m a hair’s breadth from joining the movement!

I am so incredibly jealous!!! Kittens always make the day better! Im with you on the GBP. Im getting eyeliners and mascaras all the time! The lipstick colors are all colors that i don’t wear and ive got enough bronzer for a small village.

I am so-o freaking jealous of your delivery by the kitten fairies! Seriously, my eyes are filling up with the salty waters of envy!
On another note, it looks like I’m going to be getting the purple-y Coloured Raine palette. I’m open to it’s possible possibilities, but as I def lean warm i can see a swap in our mutual futures. I’ll let you know when I receive my GBP, either way. ☺️

I just have SO many mauvey nude lipsticks already – most of them sent to me by Ipsy! I was really hoping for something different. It’s why I have neutrals ranked so low on my profile quiz. Oh well.

I was just coming here to say the exact same thing! I did a little research online and am thrilled about my Cupcake color lipstick!! I saw a bunch of reviews where people said Cupcake was their favorite color out of the 4 color options of this liquid lip – “your lips but better” in a mauvey-nude tone, and it looks gorgeous!

So for everyone who thinks that Cupcake is a weird brown lipstick, fear not. It’s actually quite beautiful and I personally can’t wait to try it out.

I don’t know why IPSY’s photo examples are so heinous when it comes to this kind of thing, but I advise everyone to look at reviews on YouTube and other websites before they get too upset about ANY item, because I found that 3 of my “bummer” products in May are actually supposed to be stellar. I went from being a tad bummed out to being very excited about my May GBP. With a $170+ RV and the beautiful bag, I cannot WAIT to get it in the mail!

I’m glad you mentioned this. I looked on the Tarte website right after seeing my choices and It’s a gorgeous mauve. (The description actually states it’s mauve.) Some we’re also complaining about the Nomad palette being too dark but viewing different swatches online, it has some lighter colors that are gorgeous and should suit most skin types. I’m excited to get both.

That’s because you picked an item. That shunted you out of your profile preference bag that the computer would have picked out for you. The item you picked was pre-arranged in one or a few of the bag combinations. They don’t hand-pick your five items.

Bag twin (I chose the SR good genes also.) I’m also supposed to be opted out of mascara. Other than the mascara I’m good with this bag.

I got the Kate Somerville Kx Active Concentrates in my bag. My choice was the Wander Beauty eyebrow gel. I would have chosen the Sunday Riley but I was late in choosing my choice item and it was already sold out by the time I looked.
I was VERY happily shocked to see the KS in my bag reveal yesterday!
P.S. I also REALLY wanted that Bobbi Brown lipstick from last month! Definitely not as lucky then, lol.

Did you see the reviews for the Bobbi Brown last month? I think there were 700, compared to like 38,000 of the DC lippie. They had some, but barely any. At least the KS was an add on. I think if anyone picked the SR or Mudmasky serum they would not also get a KS item.

Yeah, the Supergoop cream shadow is also MIA. When I was looking at reveals on Reddit, only ONE person had gotten it.

The Dominique Cosmetics eye shadow palette seems to have been extremely rare in the Ultimate bag, too.

Okay, IpsyCare came through for me. I expected this to drag out & be more of a fight, but I already got a 2nd response (same day!) that Ipsy will cancel the order for this box & refund me. I’m very appreciative.

I totally understand your frustration as this has happened to me before too!!! Fortunately my Ipsy plus was great this month and really dialed in to my profile. Oddly my Ipsy base bag couldn’t have been further off the mark (more lip balm and other assorted duds). I honestly believe its all a random, luck of the draw kind of system – because there is no rhyme or reason to a lot of these bags. I feel like i receive enough items that i enjoy that I choose to stick around. If that changes and things really go sideways I will definitely cancel. If you look at what your are paying per item its a great deal. You could always sell the items you dont want on Ebay, and that will offset the cost of your bags (just an idea)

It might not make a difference to you, but the Beauty for Real mascara is supposed to be amazing. I also opted out for mascara with IPSY and am getting one in May, but after reading the stellar reviews of this brand’s mascara I’m quite excited for it. Not a thrilling item but it really does sound pretty great.

Ipsy doesnt care about its customers anymore. I quit months ago and anxiously have waited for it to get better and it hasnt. Ipsy is so desperate that I keep getting emails for free products if I sign back up. Join the movement and quit, ipsy only cares about new customers.

They did the same to me too!!! They just dont care about customer satisfaction anymore. The bags were actually better when they first started! Also before they were only charging $12 for add ons, not $18. Ipsy is sooo money hungry now and only care about new customers.

Bag twins! I was initially meh about it as a whole but have gotten more enthusiastic as I thought about each piece individually. Hopefully we’ll both enjoy it when it arrives.

Oh no! I am so sorry that you are also getting the absolute opposite of what you have in your profile. You have even gone so far as to have opted OUT, actually communicated with them via email…sheesh! What does it take, is right!

Where did you find out about macadamia nuts in the face palette? I am also allergic to those and hazel nuts (no Nutela for me). I’m going to write them about this. Not only is it RARE on choice for face palettes in my beauty quiz, but that’s impossible for me to use on my skin. Won’t do it! Your daughter can’t us it, either! Ugh! If they would just follow the beauty quiz. I think every single day is opposite day in their offices or something.

Luckily, it is just makeup, and they have some amazing add ons, but that is MORE money on top of money that we ALREADY PAID. We should have to pay twice to get what we like. I get that it’s a surprise box. So, don’t need buttinskis to remind me of that, but if they are actually going to have a beauty ranking, then FOLLOW IT!
