Fortune Cookie Soap “Midsummer's Night” April 2020 Review

Here is the info sheet for this month’s box.

Spring Court Linen Spray, 2.1 0z

I know I’ve received linen sprays before and didn’t use them often, but when I was folding laundry the other day I realized I couldn’t find one to use. Thanks for the good timing, FCS! This has a scent blend of “sunkissed citrus, Oberon’s choice of cucumber water, and a delicate wisp of apple blossom.”

For The Fae Shimmer Hair & Body Mist, 1 oz

I never really feel the urge to make my hair sparkle, but I will never say no to some shimmer on my legs and shoulders. Even though this packs a mega-punch of sparkle in the packaging, once applied to my skin the shimmer was actually subtle- you could only see it when the light hit just right. The scent blend of peonies, vanilla, cotton candy, plum, and raspberry amber wasn’t overpowering, either, while still smelling super lovely.

Love Potion Eye Serum, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $14.99 (based on a previous eye serum with the same ingredients list available from the brand)

This eye serum impressed me- it has a rolling metal ball that was cooling to my skin straight out of the box, no refrigeration required. The serum did have a bit of an oily consistency that I wouldn’t want to have if I was wearing makeup, most likely due to the jojoba oil. This also has caffeine extract, white tea, and hyaluronic acid, and it has a light scent of apricot, peach, green tea, and fig. The scent wasn’t strong enough to irritate my eyes, but I do feel scented eye care products are unnecessary.

Changeling Sea Salt Hair Spray, 2 oz

This hair spray has notes of mandarin, honey, and jasmine, and whole it is my favorite scent blend in the box. This is also the one product that is a complete miss for me- I almost never reach for hair spray and definitely don’t reach for sea salt sprays. I find that this doesn’t work for my hair type, but I know this will be loved by one of my friends.

The Verdict: I love this box- it is an affordable monthly self-care treat, and the scents are always unique and fun. I think the linen spray was my favorite in the box- due to all of the time I’ve spent inside I definitely feel like my apartment needs extra sprucing, and this fills that need perfectly.

Can anybody give me an idea on how long shipping usually takes? I subscribed three weeks ago and still no shipping confirmation.

I know everything is slow right now, and I don’t want to pester them quite yet.

I greatly appreciate any info you all could share.

Danielle, did you ever figure out the shipping time? I subscribed 3 weeks ago too..have heard nothing.

My box shipped. Took it almost a month but it’s on its way 🙂

Danielle

Hi! Just an update: they sent me an (what seemed like an auto-generated) email yesterday apologizing for the lateness of my box with a great discount offer.

Danielle

I emailed CS and they said shipping for the May box starts this week…. I’m going to wait for my shipping confirmation and then check which order it is for. If it’s for my April 22 subscription order, awesome. Otherwise I wooo contact CS again.

I was pleasantly surprised by the eye serum, I think it works quite well for me. Usually their facial products are a big miss for me, unfortunately.

Jessica

I loved the scent, so I just went ahead and used the eye serum as a perfume roller ball!

Jessica, that’s a great idea! I feel rather foolish for tossing that serum because the scent was very nice. Should’ve used it as a roller ball fragrance.

I’m disappointed there was no soap.

This theme seems to have “mid-summer” written all over it, instead of Spring for some reason. Maybe it’s just me.

I love FCS products and am so happy to get the monthly sub box, but the eye serum was the first product that was truly a dead on miss for me. It burned the tender skin under my eyes and the lovely scent was just too strong for that delicate area. The other products more than made up for it, especially that delightful linen spray. I couldn’t agree with you more, a perfect inclusion for our stuffy, stale smelling homes, suffering from too much social isolation.

I put my name on the waiting list. I love these types of products. I looked at their website and was absolutely bowled over, with the sheer variety of products.
I am number 27 on waitlist. I can’t wait!
