Birchbox Review - April 2020

Per usual, this month's Birchbox came with a single info card that lists the products on the front, with a Birchbox Tip listed on the back.

Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer, 3 g- Estimated Value $11.25 (Buy a full-size 8 g for $30.00)

Benefit has always been one of my favorite brands, especially for their boxed powders. I have been using Dandelion for YEARS. They also happen to make this bronzer in shades I can use! This is the original shade, but they also have a wider range of shades like Light, Caramel, and Toasted. I love the sheer coverage and the matte finish because it means I can build it up to whatever I want and the fear of one swipe being way too much is non-existent.

I also like this shade in the crease of my eyelids.

Bumble and bumble. Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer, 0.34 oz - Estimated Value $1.12 (Buy a full-size 8.5 oz for $28.00)

I am all about effortless hair, and mine lives in a top-knot nearly 90% of the time these days. I love using a leave-in conditioner then twirling my hair up. It allows me to create a natural wave that is this lazy girl's dream sort of look. This spray might be even better for this trick because you can use it on damp hair and it gives shine and helps against frizz and flyaways. It also smells awesome!

IBY Beauty City Limits Eyeshadow in 'Fire & Ice', 1.5 g - Buy the 12 pan palette for $20.00

I am not sure why this color is named 'Fire & Ice' but it sure is pretty. It is a soft smoked lavender sort of taupe with a gorgeous shimmer. It is also buttery smooth and blendable. The formula contains rosehip seed oil which is likely why it feels so soft and buttery.

It looks a little more lavender leaning in person, but this is a universally flattering shade, IMO.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Lip Tint in 'Aura', 6 ml - Estimated Value $8.00 (Buy a full-size 12 ml for $19.00)

I didn't love this gloss because it had a scent that reminded me a little of the cosmetics my mom would buy me as a kid, for kids. It also doesn't really add much to my lips in terms of tint. It does give them a nice glossy finish, but I think for this to be a favorite I would just need more. The sample size is nice though!

I wish some of this pretty shade showed up when I put it on my lips.

Onekind Pore-fectionist Refining Facial Mask, 10 ml - Estimated Value $3.20 (Buy a full-size 75 ml for $24.00)

Finally, the last item is a mask from Onekind. I loved this! In addition to being clarifying, it also contains AHAs and BHAs which exfoliate! While this might be too drying for my whole face, I used it as a spot treatment and loved the way it shrunk my occasional blemishes. I also tried it strictly in my T-zone and noticed smaller looking pores and oil reduction.

Verdict: This Birchbox had a pretty good curation. I loved the eyeshadow and the clay mask, as well as the bronzer (what??) and the hair oil. I was less excited about the lip gloss, but I still think it was a solid product, just not enough bells and whistles for me personally. Could it have used one more sample to feel like a home run? Yes, but what was here was still pretty well rounded!

To Wrap Up:

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I received the Fire and Ice through Ipsy last year. It has a color shift to olive green!

That beautiful box is the only exciting item in this bunch in my eyes. Sorry, just speaking from me. And I don’t know why I don’t care for anything by MK. They are priced crazy high so many subscription boxes use to bring up the value over all.
