Tribe Beauty Box "Soft Glam" February 2020 Review

tribe beauty info card

The theme this month for Tribe Beauty is "Soft Glam" and comes with six items plus a bag to create those vibes.

Tribe Beauty Holographic Makeup Bag - Listed Value $19.99

I love a good holographic bag and this one holds quite a bit! You'll see the Tribe Beauty logo on the front in pink and the zipper closure is gold along with a detachable gold strap. Everything that came in this month's bag fit in here with a ton of room to spare. This is perfect for travel or doing your makeup on the go.

Luxie Beauty Blending Eye Brush #237 - Retail Value $14.00 (on sale for $9.80)

Luxie Beauty Mini Flat Angled Eye Brush #111 - Listed Value $10.00

While I don't think these are the highest quality brushes I own, I think both the blending brush and flat angled brush are good for travel since they're more compact. I think the pink and rose gold handles are super cute too. The blending brush is small but gets to work easily and efficiently. The flat angled if perfect for getting metallic highlights into the corner of my eyes for extra dimension.

Earth Harbor Luna Lei Phyto-Resurfacing Night Serum - Retail Value $54.00

I've been seeing this brand pop up a good bit lately in subscription boxes and appreciate their dedication to safe, ethical, and sustainable products. This night serum is thin in consistency and has an opaque pale white-yellow color to it with a light citrus scent. Made with 5% AHA + BHA blend, macro-algae collagen, and vitamin C-rich oils, it aims to help with dark spots & hyperpigmentation, dull & uneven skin tone, signs of aging, and excess oil. I have concerns with a few of these, so I am on board to spread this over my face before bed and let it do its work. Since it's thin, it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave behind any gunky feeling, just a slightly tight feel. I'll need prolonged use to really notice a difference, but so far I enjoy the routine.

Serloom Lash Serum - Retail Value $29.99

Gosh, I love this packaging. The matte finish of the pink and grey tube is just so nice. Normally, I'd shy away from putting something like a serum on my lashes since it's so close to my eyes, but I've softened my outlook lately. Not only can it be used to promote growth for thicker lashes, but it can be used on eyebrows as well (which I'm extra interested in). I used to have beautiful thick straight brows as a teen before I was shamed into waxing them into a thinner arch, and I wish I could go back to those days. Putting this serum on once or twice a day should help, I just need to be more diligent about it!

theBalm Read My Lips/Pretty Smart Lip Gloss in Zaap! - Retail Value $15.00 (on sale for $7.50)

I'm guessing they changed the name of this gloss line which is why my tube says one thing but their website says another. At any rate, this sparkly bright pink gloss smells like candy and goes on in a sheer coat. It feels hydrating and slippery without being sticky and also feels a bit plumping. If I were a gloss girl more than a matte girl, I'd definitely put this to better use. It can also be added over a matte lip for some sparkle and shine.

Iconic Beauty Blur Stix - Listed Value $15.00

This seems like a bit of a copycat of Milk Makeup's blur stick due to the packaging which does make me a little wary. This mattifying stick does just what it sounds like and softens the look of pores while making my skin look matte and prepping it for makeup. It has a very prominent coconut scent and does give my face a soft powdery finish with no shine.

Here are swatches of the blur stick and lip gloss.

Wander Beauty Wandress Fling Palette - Retail Value $25.00

I'm a fan of Wander Beauty and have liked a lot of the products of theirs that I've tried like mascara, eye masks, and lip oil. This eyeshadow palette comes with six pretty metallic shades that scream spring. I'm really impressed with the pigment of these and they swatch beautifully. Gold, bronze, pink, and purple are what make up the soft yet bold hues that all seem to work well with my complexion.

Here are the shadows swatched on my hand, as well as an eye makeup look I did. I found the shades to be really blendable and look great together! So pretty!

Verdict: This month's Tribe Beauty had a lot of great items from a variety of categories. I think the eyeshadow palette is lovely, the brushes are super useable, and I have high hopes for the lash serum. The facial serum is also right up my alley since I love skincare. The lip gloss and the blur stick weren't as exciting for me, but together this box has a value of $182.98 which more than covers the guaranteed $100 value for this $39.98 ($34.99 + $4.99 shipping) box.

Oh gosh, Jen. Great question. I believe for this one I am wearing ILIA in Rosette (from the Birchbox LE CLean Beauty box, review forthcoming) with the Balm lip gloss from this box (ZAAP!) over it.

I’m bummed I didn’t get this box now, haha! Those shadows are gorgeous! They don’t look so dark in the palette, but the swatches are swoon-worthy!

Lame

I’m really surprised they sent everything in a mailer. The palette could’ve been broken 🙁

Sandy

Broken palettes are surprisingly easy to fix.
