My Fashion Crate April 2020 Review

My Fashion Crate always includes an insert with descriptions of the items and their values. The front side of the page lists everything in the Essential box, while the back gives you the Premium box details. They include pictures, which I always appreciate.

Orange Striped Maxi Dress, size L - Listed Value $42.00

I was a little disappointed to find that this dress did not fit me well at all. It hugged my curves at all the wrong places which displaced the orange and blue stripes and definitely didn't do the fun pattern any justice. Other than the fit, this maxi dress is really cute. I love the length and the bottom is actually cut into four different panels so it's easy to move in. The middle has a stationary open tie-up feature that is actually a bit more revealing than what I would normally wear, but I think it works since the rest of the dress is fairly modest.

Appeal Cosmetics Ultra Cream Lipstick in Muse - Retail Value $21.00

I really like this lipstick! Not only is the color great for spring, but it comes in this really cute tube. The formula is nice, it goes on smoothly, and the staying power is decent, although not anything incredible.

Here it is swatched.

I think Muse is a great spring color!

Soon Biocellulose Brightening Face Mask - Retail Value $22.00

Woah, look at the retail value of this mask! I was pretty surprised at that and eager to see how well it worked after reading the description:

An alternative to harsh scrubs and chemical skin “lighteners” this Biocellulose mask is not your average sheet mask, it was originally developed as “artificial skin” to treat severe burns and chronic wounds.

This mask contains arbutin to slow down melanin production (dark spots), niacinamide to reduce pores and brighten skin, adenosine which has anti-wrinkle benefits, and hyaluronic acid to hydrate your skin. It is also free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates in addition to being cruelty-free.

Here is my face mask selfie for you. The mask was not messy and it had a paper layer that I removed before applying the gel-like mask to my face and then I peeled off the other thinner paper layer from the front to reveal a sort of creepy looking mask. I left it on for probably 20 minutes and most of the liquid absorbed into my skin leaving it feeling hydrated and maybe even a bit brighter. I would definitely use this one again, although that's a pretty hefty price tag still!

Kawaii and Joy Red and Pink Bobby Pins - Listed Value $2.00

A girl can never have enough bobby pins, right? These mini bobby pins are really strong and so cute with their various shades of red and pink. I enjoyed the fun pun on the label, as well!

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Warm Day Floral Dress - Listed Value $38.00

I really loved the delicate florals in this dress with those fun flutter sleeves. I wasn't so happy with the silhouette though which I thought was pretty unflattering. I think I might just be too tall for this one too, and that on someone with a shorter frame it might fit a little better? It has a cute spring vibe to it, even though it didn't quite work for me.

Black Stand-up Jewelry Organizer - Listed Value $25.00

I totally thought this was a stand-up makeup organizer at first and I was disappointed at the lack of spaces for brushes, but then I realized it was a jewelry organizer and that it folded down! How cool? The fabric is water-resistant and if you didn't want to use it for jewelry, they also recommend it for sunglasses, hair accessories, toiletries, cosmetics, or even pencils! This little bag is a lot more versatile than I thought it could be!

Verdict: I loved the spring vibe of this month's My Fashion Crate box. I thought this was a good mix of accessories and products for a spring refresh. While the clothing didn't work out for me very well this month, I loved the lipstick, face mask and jewelry organizer and those bobby pins were super cute and useful!

The total value for the Premium box using listed values comes to $150.00 this month, which is great for a $55.90 ($49.95 + $5.95 shipping) box. As for the Essential box, the value is $87.00, which is good for a $40.95 ($35 + $5.95 shipping) box. For the $14.95 extra paid for the Premium box, I received the floral dress and jewelry organizer (valued at $63.00).

The clothing in this sub look so cheaply made. They look like they’d fall apart after one wash. I don’t see the value in this box.

What TK said times :100:

I’ve never seen a single box from this sub that enticed me to subscribe!

That maxi dress is a hot mess (which is not a comment on you at all, but the quality of the dress). I can’t imagine that cut or pattern being flattering on very many people. The colors are obnoxious and the material looks really cheap and potentially itchy.

Lipstick is so pretty on you!

I’ve never seen anything from this box that doesn’t look cheaply made. There are so many subs out there—I don’t understand why this one is still being reviewed.

The cold shoulder of the floral dress made your posture look terrible, (sloping shoulders). This is a terrible box and certainly not worth the money.

I do not think the second dress is a flattering look at all, but I don’t think the maxi dress is all that bad. It seems a bit sheer though. Does it have a built in slip?

Brandi D.

It does have a shorter slip inside so it’s only sheer from just above the knees down!

I feel like the similar clothing items can be found for a few bucks on clearance racks of Forever 21. Way overpriced imo.

I had to stop this sub, it’s just not worth it at this price point. This box should be around $25- $30

That last dress would make a great crop top with a pair of flaired Jeans. If you’re good at sewing or know someone who is have them cut the bottom portion off and hem it into a crop top or top that rests right at the top of high waisted Jean’s. It would be the perfect airy summer top

That’s a good idea! It would be a cute top!
