Join MSA Insiders for Opportunities to Review FREE Boxes!

As I mentioned in our Sneak Peek into What’s Coming Next for Our Community post, we’re relaunching our MSA Insiders program with one big exciting change! We’re inviting select Insiders to try out and review boxes and products for FREE to share thoughts with the whole MSA community.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Fill out the survey below to become an MSA Insider. If you were a part of the original MSA Insiders, you’ll need to fill out the survey as well. Make sure to use an email address you use frequently as you’ll need to opt-in to any review opportunities through email.
  2. If selected for a review opportunity, you’ll receive an email to opt-in and provide your mailing address. We’ll also let you know what kind of content we’re looking for before you opt-in. (For example, we’ll be asking for things like a picture of the item or box in use, a paragraph about your experience trying it, etc.)
  3. We’ll give you a heads up when your item ships and remind you what content you will need to send to us and by when.
  4. You receive the box/product and get to try it out!
  5. Submit your review/feedback/picture (we’ll let you know what the specifics are before you opt-in).
  6. You may see your review on MSA!

We’re really excited about this new project and we hope you are, too! Please keep in mind that this is a beta test version, so we’d love any feedback you can provide for us along the way as we learn more.

Click here to take the survey and please let me know if you have any questions!

  1. Just to have a shot at writing a review for MSA is so very exciting. I’ve been dreaming of this for literally years! Thank you Liz and the MSA team for this wonderful opportunity.

  2. I would love to be selected. I think complexion product reviews are missing an honesty. Prior to Fenty we had nothing even close to compare it to. Now, we have better choices and new opinions on why we chose a product. It is an exciting time in complexion products. Now if we could just get out of quarantine!

  3. Applied! I think it’s amazing you guys are giving us this opportunity. I have actually been a huge fan of this page for a while and I’m always adding boxes to my list of “must-try” based on all of your reviews. I had been looking to even apply to do reviews with you but never found anything and gave up. I’m so excited that I might get to do this!

  4. Submitted. I’d also love to write a blog post on the economics of subscription boxes. A lot of posters complain because they think suggested retail is over inflated but I think no one understands that the box owner doesn’t have control over that. The difference between retail and wholesale is set up by the company that owns the brand.

    • I think most complaints I’ve seen is about boxes listing market value at the price when the item first came out, not at the price you could buy it now from regular stores. This is true so that’s a valid complaint.

      • But the subscription box owner doesn’t know when an item will go on sale and how much it will sell for. The negotiation is done ahead of time so the box owner has time to order the products, release them as spoilers is necessary, and have the literature for the box printed up. This has to be done far enough ahead of time to pack the boxes and get them shipped.

      • Yeah I actually think this is more a criticism of the brands inflating their value, although the box curators go along with it too. Sometimes the retail value is a comparative value and the actual item was never launched at that price. I think it’s really hard to make money from subscription boxes so I understand why they have to do that.

  5. Submitted! Well that was fun 🙂 Oh my goodness, I definitely took a trip down sub box memory lane…
