Boxwalla Beauty Box April 2020 Review feat. Monastery

Each Boxwalla box comes with a letter printed on high-quality cardstock detailing the items included. This month features two full-size products from Monastery, a brand focused on the best quality ingredients and aromatherapy benefits. The creator of this brand, Athena Hewett, has been an esthetician for over 20 years and practices out of her own studio. She was inspired by nature and her grandmother's own home-pressed oils to create this line. As a current esthetician student, I am so excited for this box!

XX Rose Glycolic Gel, 2.03 oz. - Retail Value $74.00

I absolutely adore glycolic acid for its ability to gently exfoliate my skin and this formula is extra incredible because that wonderful acid is combined with rose water, which is incredibly soothing. Even though this 10% glycolic solution is gentle enough for all except the most sensitive skin, that rose element is going to provide extra calming moisture while the acid goes to work. It has a very light rose petal scent that I absolutely love and a clear gel texture. I like to apply this at night after cleansing, and before a serum or moisturizer. If you do have skin that is on the sensitive side, try applying this as a mask, leave on for 2-5 minutes then rinse off instead!

Aloe Hyaluronic Moisture Boost, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $79.00

Our second item is another gel texture, but this is an ultra-hydrating serum. It contains 2 different types of hyaluronic acid which are suspended in an additional source of moisture: aloe! The scent here is a soft lavender and sage, and while some don't like lavender in their skincare products, I happen to love it. My routine the last week or so has been a double cleanse, the XX formula that also came in this box, this serum, and a night cream. At least my skin has been benefiting from the extra time I have to spend on it!

Verdict: I am so crazy about the Boxwalla Beauty box. It is certainly a quality over quantity sort of subscription, which suits me just fine. I also find everything inside as gorgeous as it is effective, meaning I enjoy the added bonus of having a gorgeous assortment on my vanity. Both of the formulas included this month were stellar, and exactly the sort of products I love to use. Add to that the thoughtfully sourced ingredients and the creator's esthetician background and I am in heaven. The total value of $153.00 is pretty impressive too!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Great review! Thanks for the scents, I don’t like lavender, sage or rose but the packaging is gorgeous. And while I’ve been known to buy something just for the container, I think I’ll sit this one out. 😉

Flora I just reread this review last night before I went ahead and purchased. I think it is funny given your name that you don’t like rose or lavender. 🌹😂. I hope you have an amazing day and I hope we all get to get out and enjoy a beautiful spring day! 🙏 namaste!

I also loved April’s Boxwalla Beauty!! Your review really captured my feelings. Usually, I just go through the steps of the routine, but the info card reminded me to take a moment to enjoy the scents of the products, and I found that added an element of joy to my routine that I really needed. The non-branded box is like a third item for me. I recently started paper crafting, and the soft, textured paper is the perfect vessel for my goodies. I hope they continue with the unbranded box.

I also like unbranded boxes! I use them to store paper crafting materials too (I’m into parchment craft—google it! 🙂) and for packaging gifts. 🎁
