Remember when Birchbox said it would improve with the price hike, which was a lot – 50% when you consider that it went from $10 to $15. I was able to pick the sample box I wanted, so I was happy with that, but after last month and tiny samples in my curated box I felt burned.

Is it better to pick a sample and let them do the rest of the box? I’ve been disappointed with my curated boxes so far, just wondering if it works out better NOT picking a curated box.??

From what I’ve seen, the samples are always super tiny. Much smaller than Ipsy. I had recently tried them again after being unsubscribed for about five years. I think I stayed for three months this time, if I recall correctly. The first two times they picked the complete box for me and the last time I went with one of the curated choices. Every time was a letdown. I ended up liking the actual box designs and not much more than that. Allure is the same price and imo is much better. You can subscribe through Amazon if you want to stop and start it easily at will. Or if you subscribe through Allure itself, they usually have a free gift.

Does anyone know what time selection opens to regular members?

Pooja

Customization is open for regular members now

Thanks! Got it! I’m just leery after that sold-our situation a few months ago.

Make sure that you double check the box number and the name. The box listed as #1 here was listed as #2 on the Birchbox site.

Anyone else have the Sunday Riley listed as full size in their selection options? I just selected it and it says full size and I received an email confirmation that also says full size.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Yes me too. Maybe the full size is for Aces?

Kelly

They always call the swap “Swap for full- sized”. I’d be wary about expecting the $65 jar, they said $20 value travel size in the email with the customization options shown. They really need to work on listing sizes and retail values in the description when you are selecting to avoid confusion.

Julia

Agree, Kelly. I chose the SR Ice Item, but I am expecting a travel size. It really threw me when I saw the “swap for full size” when I made my choice. It clearly states that it is worth $20, but with that description it is confusing. I am sure that there will be people that will be disappointed and irritated.

Pooja

Yes. It does show full size in the sneak peak on app.

I’d be pretty happy with a perfume sample box, except none of those perfumes thrill me. Perfume is just one of my favorite things ever and except for the Macy’s box it’s too rare to get samples. (I love the men’s cologne samples in the Macy’s box, my husband wears them and it’s like having a rendezvous with a guy but not cheating, haha.)

But I’ll take the points again this month. I’m in for a year and I’d rather build towards something that I would usually never buy.

Stay safe everyone. Don’t go out if you don’t need to, and wipe down all your packages when you get them.

Help me out here. I’ve only had Birchbox for a few months, and I don’t know the ins and outs. I’m assuming Box 1 will sell out before I can choose it. If I pick one of the samples, could any of the other items in my box be items shown in the curated boxes? Or would they just be something entirely different?

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Yes, there is a chance that other items in your box could be from a curated box. 🙂

Box #1 is gonna sell out so fast !

Swap a box for a 0.5 oz jar of face cream?!? Really?

Reply ButtonReply

Leslie Prior

From my research the travel size Ice is only 8 ml or .271 fluid ounces. Sephora offering it free with SR purchase of $65 and they list retail value as $10 not the $20 Birchbox is claiming. So with that choice those paying $15 a box are losing $5, what a deal!

Colleen

I like box 1, I hope it is available for non- aces.

Leslie Prior

Unfortunately, it is doubtful 1 will be available, especially given the other box choices and lack of full size product choice as promised. Mine is a gift sub, cannot swap for points, so I will probably end up with another lame box of 5 tiny samples like last month. This sub just continues to decline in value particularly when compared to Allure and Ipsy.

Marion

Not sure if I get this box or if my year-long sub is done. I like these choices better than last month.

I wonder when the video comes out. It looks like there’s 2 Juliette Has a Gun samples in the perfume box, & I can see Not a Perfume on the small vial, so the deluxe spray is probably a different fragrance, right? 👀

Box 1 also looks nice, with that possibly-full-size Lawless lip.

I even like the choice samples better than usual, too. I think I’d pick the Oribe & hope to also get the Arrow lip oil in the box, too.

Michele

The big spray is Juliet has a gun.
The scent is Mmm.

Thanks!

Thanks! Unfortunately, I’ve tried that via Birchbox before & didn’t care for it.

Melissa

Box 1 looks like a winner to me. I was interested in 2 of the sample choice items, and then I realized that they are both in box #1. Plus the other items in there look really good, too!

Kate

I just resubscribed! I want box #1. Love kate Somerville and that wander mascara. I was charged $15 for my box but I’m still an Ace. Aren’t Aces only charged $10 a month?

Reply ButtonReply

Stacy

I think once you cancel your subscription you end up paying full price all over again you don’t get it at the discounted price anymore

Penny

So glad to see another perfume choice, but where’s the candle?😟 The February box was one of my favorites. I love perfume, but such tiny samples…….

Reply ButtonReply

Cassandra

Has anyone tried Type A deodorant?

Reply ButtonReply

Sam

I’m wondering what shade that Lawless lippie is and is it full size?

Reply ButtonReply

Robyn

It looks like pink lilac. Not for me!

Oz

Got to be box 1 for me. I have a gift subscription which doesn’t allow me to swap for points. I hope I can get it.

Pooja

I am happy May is my last month for this subscription. While ipsy, macy’s, allure are getting better in 2020, birchbox seems to be lagging behind.

There is no excitement for selecting the curated boxes or swap item as by the time choice opens for regular subscribers the item you want is out of stock.

M

Swap for a sample size…. not cool. Box 1 is decent. But it is points for me again. Cant wait until I’m done with this sub.

Liz

I will be going for Box 1. My mom loves the Wander mascara (I do too) and I am hoping to give it to her for Mother’s Day. I think the full-size swap is a bummer.

I have been disappointed by Birchbox lately. I am a long time subscriber and the quality has just gone down. After seeing this month’s selections, I won’t waste my money anymore. The most irritating issue has been the lack of curated box choices-by the time I get to choose, they are all gone! This month, a travel size for a full-size choice?! Hmmmm……

Reply ButtonReply

Melanie

Kind of disappointed the swap your box for a full size item is a travel size item this month

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda P

Wow, this is a great month. I’m excited about all the curated boxes and sample choices!

Reply ButtonReply

jenn

$15 a month for a $20 travel sized sample?

Reply ButtonReply

Pooja

Their perfume sampler box is also going to land at similar amount. The feb perfume box was around $15 and this one though includes a deluxe sample would not be more than $20 overall value.
