Slay Glam Box February 2020 Review

Slay Glam sends an info card each month with an itemized list of what’s in your box, including retail values.

If you follow @slayglambox on Instagram, the box curator enables subscribers to choose certain items each month by DMing or commenting your item choice; I love this feature! There weren't any special options this month, but there is usually one or two items you're able to customize.

Manna Kadar Lip Library - Retail Value $24

This kit is awesome! I love the array of colors, and the shine is fantastic. Each tube has a sweet, cakey flavor, and the color payoff is fab. I always see this brand in subscription boxes, but I was never wowed by any of the products until now. This formula didn't dry down completely, leaving a glossy finish, and when it wears off of your lips, it leaves you with a pretty stain.

Here are all of the colors from top to bottom: All of Me, All of You, Lucky, Pinot Noir, Pretty Smart, Rosette, Shae, Sienna

Slay Glam Box x Rasha B. Cosmetics Romance Me Eyeshadow Palette - Listed Value $27

This palette has the perfect color story for a romantic on Valentine's Day; it contains several different finishes so you can create countless looks. I thought the metallics performed well, but the mattes required some extra help. The last shade is a pressed glitter with a chunky, mousse-like texture, which helps it adhere to the skin a little, but I would definitely still recommend using a glitter glue.

Here are all of the shades swatched as they appear in the palette.

Sormé Treatment Cosmetics Smearproof Lipliner - Retail Value $9.50

Lipliner is a step I always forego, but every time I use one I remember how vital it is for a long-lasting lip look. This color is a classic your-lips-but-better shade, and for a matte, it has an impressively soft glide to it. I put a layer on my bare lips, and after blending, it didn't budge.

Sormé Treatment Cosmetics Limited Edition Satin Eyeliner - Listed Value $18

I love chunky eyeliners; they make the perfect foundation for eye shadow, or you could just use them by themselves if you want a look that lasts. This warm brown shade is very flattering and brings out my eye color, which is hard to find for brown eyes. It has a very soft texture and blends like a dream.

Dirty Little Secret Cosmetics Flirt Baked Highlighter - Retail Value $14

I was shocked at how pigmented this highlighter is, especially since "baked" products typically have a milder color payoff. This highlight could have beamed me straight up to outer space, but I mellowed it out with some powder foundation. This rose gold beauty is a highlight that accentuated the texture and pores on my cheeks, but after I blended it in it looked much better.

Swatches from top to bottom: Sormé Lipliner, Sormé Eyeliner, DLS Flirt Highlighter

Here is the look I created using most of the makeup products from this month’s Slay Glam Box. I used a few of the pink metallic shades in the palette to create a gradient look, and in the first photo, I was just wearing the lipliner; in the next photo, I am wearing the Manna Kadar gloss stain in Rosette.

Verdict: This month's Slay Glam Box was another hit! I feel I received a ton of product this month, again, for under $25! I love the Manna Kadar Lip Library and the Sormé eyeliner is a gorgeous shade I know I'll use up. This subscription sends a lot of brands that are under the radar, and I would recommend it for anyone trying to beef up their makeup collection.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Hi everyone. I had a couple questions if you guys have any answers I would greatly appreciate it. This is my first box from slay glam so I’m not exactly sure how everything works. I ordered it a couple weeks ago and still haven’t heard anything about it being shipped. Also I noticed it says we can pick colors but I don’t have Facebook or Instagram so I don’t know how to even see the colors to pick from. I went to the site where I signed up to try to email them, well their site is weird and it doesn’t have a link to click to contact anyone. It says it at the bottom but I’ve emailed that about a week ago and still haven’t heard anything. Can someone please help on what I should do? Thanks in advance.

Don’t waste your money, this company is a scam. I paid for a 3 month subscription and got nothing. Impossible to communicate with. Had to get my money back via paypal. Terrible company.

If they want subscribers they better not include any DLS products and affiliated brands anymore.

I would be cautious with the DLS branded stuff, there’s been some information about that company going around lately that makes me question if I should be putting them on my face.

Yikes, this is the first I’ve heard anything. Thank you for the heads up!

The Faccia/DLS info just came out recently. so I can understand if these boxes already had some of their product lined up. But going forward, I’ll have to cast doubt on the curation and quality of any boxes I see DLS branded products placed in. Glad to know that Ipsy and The Box by Fashionsta have both addressed the issue and stated they will no longer be doing business with DLS and hope others follow suit. DLS engages in shady business practices and any subscription box that is complicit in that will be an automatic unsubscribe for me.

Same for me. It’s unacceptable for any box to include these brands going forward. I threw away all the DLS, Steve Laurant, and Bang Beauty products I had. There’s another affiliated brand but I just can’t remember what the name is. I don’t think I have received anything from that brand, because the name didn’t sound familiar which is probably why I can’t remember it lol. But any products from these companies are an automatic cancellation for me. If I want products from AliExpress I will order them directly. The price inflation for the Faccia was insane and a slap in the face.
