Macy's Beauty Box March 2020 Review

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included, a pro tip, and your $5.00 beauty coupon code to be used at Macy's stores or online.

Urban Decay Vice Lip Chemistry in '21', 0.013 fl oz – Estimated Value $2.60 (Buy a full-size 0.11 fl oz for $22.00)

I really loved this lip sample! It is kind of a balm/liquid lip hybrid that goes on super shiny and a little sheer. It also has color adjusting pigments inside that tint it to a color unique to my lip chemistry. In my case, it was a sheer cool red which I loved! I am pretty impressed with this one. I adore any lip color that is easy to wear with or without a full face of makeup and either way I wear it this gives my pucker a very natural sheen.

I really like this wearable shade.

TONYMOLY Peach Punch Cleansing Tissues, 8 count - Estimated Value $1.87 (Buy a full-size 30 pack for $7.00)

TONYMOLY is one of those Korean brands that I really love because their products are as cute as they are beneficial to my skin and routines. I wish this had been a full-size pack! These wipes smell like peach rings and do a fantastic job of wiping away dirt and makeup. They are also downright adorable, which always adds to an already awesome product's allure for me personally.

Beauty by POPSUGAR Be Racy Liquid Velvet Lip in 'Berry Nice', 0.085 fl oz - Estimated Value $17.00 (Buy a full-size 0.12 fl oz for $24.00)

I was less crazy about this lip product than the other in my box. It dried down to a thicker matte finish which just felt like a lot on my lips. To be fair, I am not a fan of many matte lipsticks because I find them drying. This one did feel more moisturizing than most, but I think I will stick to my lighter feeling lip colors.

Still, it was another totally wearable color!

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara, 0.06 fl oz - Estimated Value $4.55 (Buy a full-size 0.33 oz for $25.00)

I have sampled this mascara before and it is a little more dramatic than I like for everyday lashes. That being said, it does make my lashes look insane, so I plan on keeping it around for an evening event or something that feels fancier. The brush is a little chunky, but gosh does it grab each and every lash!

tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in 'Park Ave Princess', 1 g - Estimated Value $3.31 (Buy a full-size 9.07 g for $30.00)

Bronzers aren't something I usually get to lean into because I am super fair. This little pan was an exception! It is quite sheer, but utterly buildable, so you can go as light or heavy as you please. There is a very subtle golden shimmer in here too which is very flattering. I can't wait for warmer weather and a little more sunshine, and I plan on adding this to my "makeup-free" look rotation.

Totally shocked at how good this looks on my skin.

DOLCE&GABBANA Dolce Garden Eau de Parfum, 0.05 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.94 (Buy 2.5 fl oz for $122.00)

At first sniff, then reminded me very much of Clean Reserve's Solar Bloom because they share the same super radiant warm coconut heart. As someone who doesn't like coconut scents, I adore both of these because that coconut translates much more to warm summer skin than a beachy beverage. Add in the notes of citrus and vanilla and you have an incredibly summery scent that I think a ton of people will adore.

Calvin Klein CK Everyone Eau de Toilette, 0.04 fl oz - Estimated Value $0.48 (Buy 6.7 fl oz for $80.00)

I remember buying my first bottle of CK One, a scent I still actually love a lot. There was something super cool about a unisex scent back then and I feel like it is still really relevant now. This I like a little less, but mainly because it is pretty sharp and soapy to my nose. It does indeed smell just like a Calvin Klein scent though, so if you tend to like the perfumes from this brand, this citrus and patchouli blend might be perfect for you!

Eyelash Curler and Makeup Remover Pads

Instead of a makeup bag this month, a little set was included that had both an eyelash curler and a trio of reusable makeup pads inside. How cute are these?! I don't always use an eyelash curler but I do have incredibly straight lashes, so it isn't the worst idea. I also love a reusable product, and these little mini eyepads are as cute as they are effective!

Verdict: This Macy’s Beauty Box has an estimated value of $30.75 which is ok for a $15 bag, but much less than I am used to from this subscription. Granted, that total does not include the eyelash curler and makeup remover pads, which certainly do add additional value! I really liked most of this box. My favorite items are the peach wipes, D&G perfume, and the Urban Decay lippie. I was shocked that the bronzer was wearable on my skin, and the mascara will be put to good use. I do wish maybe there had been a full-size offering inside, but maybe next month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Check this page to double-check what you'll receive when you sign up. As of publication, it looks like April will be your first box.

Value Breakdown: At $15.00 for this box, here is what you are paying approximately per item:

  • TONYMOLY Wipes $0.91
  • Beauty by Popsugar Lipstick $8.29

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I wasn’t able to get this box at the time because I wasn’t subscribed, however in case anyone is interested, Macy’s has them on sale now with purchase of any beauty item. They have four beauty boxes currently available, actually, this was just the only one I personally was interested in.

Rumor has it that May’s box is going to be all Jo Malone products! :O I’d love it if that were true!

I got an email from Macy’s saying so. I’m not a subscriber, it was neat to get a peek. Sign up by 4/21. ($90 value). Shows a bag is included plus 6 products. .

Ellen

OMG Luna where did you get that info? I just subscribe based on your comment and really hope this is true!

Luna

Hi Ellen! Like Chrissy said… it was sent in an email 🙂
The spoilers are two small perfume bottles (like the Sephora b-day gifts/point perks/gwp… so a nice size!), one perfume (spray) vial, a small candle, small body cream, small shower gel, all in a beautiful makeup bag in Jo Malone’s signature cream color. 🙂

Kathy

I like how unique the bags (and I guess in this case, curler + makeup remover pads) are for this box. I like how ipsy sends bags too but I think it’s even cooler that Macy’s mixes it up

Not impressed with two red lip products.

I have the Park Avenue Princess palette and it’s been my favorite contour palette out of all the ones I’ve used. I’m fair skinned and the shades work really well my my skin tone. They are nicely pigmented and blend very well.

Does Macy’s beauty box not include a bag anymore?

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. Last month we had a bag

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Btw, also wanted to mention, when Liz estimates retail value, it’s based on the smallest size being sold, not the largest.

Reply ButtonReply

Shannon

Thanks for mentioning JuJu. I appreciate consistency and that would be the more accurate way to calculate.

Reply ButtonReply

Rose

Thank you for clarifying this. It is very helpful, and you are not telling the reviewer how to do their job at all. And to the person who left a snarky reply, I will be looking for Liz’s reviews because of this.

Tracy

We’ll have to forgive Darlene as she’s currently sheltered in place with her 2 kids, Dan, Becky & her baby & crazy aunt Jackie. They’ve almost ran out of toilet paper & food & well ….. Darlene has always been the “Debbie Downer” of the bunch. 😉

Darlene

Then go look for reviews by Liz. Megan is a different reviewer. She doesn’t need you mentioning anything to her about how to do her job. 🙄

Oooh, I’ll have to try Dolce Garden because I love Solar Bloom!

I like the little makeup remover pads. I find that my Makeup Eraser works nicely when skincare products pill, so these would be great for that.

totally give it a try! they could be sisters.

Paula

This box is pathetic. Even worse than Sephora Play. WTH?

JuJu

To each their own.

I think this is a great box, plus the $10 that you can use twice on top of that.

Reply ButtonReply

amber

Weird, I think it’s a great box. Possibly because I only get ipsy anymore so I’m not overloaded with things I’ll never use.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

I’d have much more FOMO if I could actually go to a Macy’s store to use that $10 coupon 😊, but still a nice box.

Plus I would think those eyelash curlers and makeup removers add as much as $25 to the RV, if not more.

I usually use my coupons for online purchases. I like to search out the beauty items on clearance online and use my coupons for that.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

You can use the coupon twice, the code on the front – online, and the code on the back – at a physical store. A $10 coupon I’d definitely want to use twice. 😊

Christa H.

My Macy’s $5 coupon came already expired😳☹

Luna

Oh no! Mine came with a $10 coupon. Anyone else?

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

Yes, I had $10 dollar coupon that expires sometime in April. Can’t remember when. And just want to say, those makeup wipes are the best I’ve ever used. Probably going to get 2 packs and use my $10 coupon for it

Sherri

Mine had a $10 coupon as well.
