Laurel & Reed February 2020 Review

Laurel & Reed comes in a beautiful gift box with a black ribbon tied in a bow. For that reason, they pack it in an outer cardboard box so the presentation doesn't get ruined.

There's a card that simply states all of the things you can expect from the subscription and another info card that features a lovely pink swirl print on one side with the items clearly listed out with retail prices and short descriptions on the other.

Loli Beauty Pank Plum Elixir, 0.81 oz. - Retail Value $52.00

What a beautiful color for a beauty oil! I'm not familiar with the Natch Beaut blog or podcast, but this pretty deep pink oil is a collaboration with comedian Jackie Johnson who is the host and self-proclaimed "beauty passionista." This beauty oil is packed with a bunch of natural ingredients like hibiscus, plum, pomegranate, and passionfruit (to name a few). Like other oils, it can be used twice a day after cleansing to restore hydration in the skin but can also be used on the lips or even in hair to tame frizz. It has a fruity sweet smell and only a drop or two is needed for any of the uses. This has been banishing any dryness my skin faces this freezing cold season.

Native Nectar Botanicals Brighten Toning Mist, 2 oz. - Retail Value $27.00

Wowee I love the smell of this toning mist! Hibiscus is REALLY growing on me, and I think coupled with rose it's just some dreamy sweet floral situation. Thank goodness- this pump has an excellent fine mist that doesn't feel like a squirt gun hitting my face. To add to the soothing properties, this has aloe vera, plus St. John’s wort extract for antibacterial goodness, and niacinamide (vitamin B3) to tighten pores. This feels super refreshing and is the prettiest toner on my shelf!

Indie Goat Soap No. 4 Conditioning Goat Milk Beauty Bar, 4.75 oz. - Retail Value $9.00

I've been using this in my shower for a couple of weeks now and look forward to it each morning. Made with fresh goat milk, this moisturizing soap also contains coconut, olive, palm, and geranium oils along with French rose clay with rose petals. It smells just as heavenly as it looks and sounds and so far it's been making my whole body feel cleansed and soft.

Osea Red Algae Mask, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $48.00

I was probably most excited to try this red algae mask when the box arrived. The frosted glass jar with silver lid is a signature by Osea who has long been a brand I adore. The mask isn't like other clay masks I'm used to as it feels a lot creamier and overall less drying than the typical ones. It has a strong pine-like scent from the tea tree, cypress, lavender, rosemary, white thyme, and juniper oils but I rather like it. These ingredients along with the French red clay make for a great blemish-fighting mask and can even be used overnight as a spot treatment. As a mask, I spread it in a light layer over my skin and allowed it to dry over about 15 minutes. It didn't crack or feel too thick or dry but kept things quite hydrated. It felt tingly at first but over the course of time it was on, it calmed down. After using a soft face cloth to remove, my skin felt vibrant and fresh.

The Verdict: Laurel & Reed knocked it out of the park once again with their pink February theme. Hibiscus and roses abound, the four items were all so lovely and even a bit romantic to a skincare lover like myself. It's hard to pick a favorite this month and I can't remember the last time L&R had a box that wasn't stellar. This subscription is consistently a favorite and I can't recommend it enough for those who love discovering new clean beauty. The box has a retail of $136 which is more than double the cost.

I like how they coordinate products to a colored theme. 🙂 I’m liking the orange theme for March. 🙂

Yes, there is a scrub brush, a cleanser, a serum, and I believe an SPF stick.
